Leavy Brothers, Inc. Reviews (4)

I had used leavy brothers for a moving job they had moved my belongings from ** to [redacted] their workers were VERY POLITE and they were on time all my stuff was handled with close care it was all package very well the price was better than anywhere else I called the boss was very flexible with everything he took care of everything to my liking I would refer this company to anyone who is deciding to move it's a GREAT COMPANY with GREAT SERVICE..

Review: Movers were irresponsible and sloppy. Threw items into cartons often without wrapping, putting heavy items on top of fragile items. They damaged my dining room set ( 3 pieces), bedroom set (3 pieces), took a chunk out of the wood on a clock, actually cracked the metal on an antique slate and bronze wall mounted shelf table, broke the caster off a piece of furniture, broke several expensive items, some of which are irreplaceable. Broke 700 dollar porcelain sculpture, 250 dollar ceramic and slate fountain, handmade one of a kind stained glass piece of art, crystal drinking goblet, handmade LE clock, cuckoo clock. They threw a ceramic planter with live rare plants into a carton and then threw items on top of it. Plants were decimated, and planter smashed. Broke grandfather clock mechanism and antique dollhouse along with some limited edition dollhouse pieces. Broke glass in several picture frames, put chips and dents in frames of expensive art pieces, lost a good number of items, including lamp finials, cans of paint, and more. I had to pay for repair of furniture and grandfather clock mechanism.Desired Settlement: The items which required repair and which need to be replaced total $3736.25. I want this amount refunded.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

First the release form, which I signed and mailed out to him the next day.

I had heard from his insurance company and they were going to pay just about nothing. They base their prices on the weight ( sixty cents per pound), so as an example, my $700 Italian ceramic sculpture was estimated at about thirty-five pounds, and they would have given me $20.00 for it. I told his insurande company I guessed I would have to take this to court.

About an hour later, I got a call from [redacted] asking if I would accept $2500.00 ( as opposed to the $3700 I was seeking). I agreed, and he sent me the form above.

To date, I have not received the check.

Sincerely,

I would NEVER recommend Leavy Brothers to anyone. Their start time was supposed to be between 8:00 - 9:00. At 9:15, I had to call to make sure that they were still coming. I was told that they would be there and they finally arrived around 9:35. They presented no paperwork to document what time they started, which is considered customary with other movers. When the [redacted] of the company, [redacted], came to give me a quote, he assured me that all material furniture was shrink wrapped and furniture, including TV's was wrapped in a "moving blanket." While the movers were taking out my furniture, I noticed that it was neither shrink wrapped or in blankets. I was told that they would do it in the truck. When I went to the truck, all material furniture was stacked unwrapped in the floor or the truck. The TV's were also not blanketed in the truck. I had to call the office to remedy the situation. The workers then started to wrap everything but grumbled to themselves and were not pleasant or accommodating. My quote for the move was 1050 for four men for six hours. If it went to seven hours it was to be an additional $150. There was also an additional charge of $140 to deliver a refrigerator to another address. The movers left my house after 5 hours and 35 minutes and left to move the refrigerator to the other address. I have phone documentation of receiving a phone call from that address before the six hour moving time was done. The lead mover upon coming back to the original address, insisted that it was a seven hour move. The additional $140 was for the additional time. He insisted that I pay for seven hours and the added $140. I decided that it would be easier to pay and take it up with the [redacted] the next day. I called [redacted] the next day and was told he would not be in until the following day. Guess what? After many additional phone calls, [redacted] has not yet called me back to speak about this problem. Additionally, they took one of my step stools. I was told that it was on the truck and that it would be delivered by Tuesday or Wednesday. By Thursday, I had to call again and they agreed to deliver it. Again, guess what? It was an old step stool which was definitely not mine. I guess that I will have to think about taking them to small claims court to get reimbursed for the hour that they charged that they did not work. The service Leavy Brothers provided was terrible and they over-charged me. BUT the fact that the [redacted] of the company never bothered to call back should tell you something about the integrity and quality of their service.

I highly recommend Leavy Brothers. They arrived on time. They were fast, efficient, and careful. They were extremely attentive to my needs and went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of.
