Review: For several years, my husband and I have rented vehicles from Leeway Rent-A-Car with no problems. On August 1, 2014, I picked up a 12 seat passenger van from Leeway. The cost was exorbitant ($864) for a week but, I had agreed on it and left for Reboboth Beach Delaware on August 2, 2014. All was well until about the third day of our vacation when the change oil light came on and stayed on. After consulting with my husband who had remained at home, we agreed that I should get the oil changed which I did on August 7, 2014. I sat in the Jiffy Lube shop for 2 hours waiting for the oil to be changed and was presented with a bill for $47.00. When I returned home with the van, I decided since I sat for two hours during my vacation that I would not vacuum the van out as I normally would have done. All paper, toys, & clothing had been removed. I returned the keys through a slot in the wall that they have and included the bill from Jiffy Lube and note saying I wanted the money I spent refunded to my credit card. I head nothing all week from Leeway so I called on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 and fought with a person there, named [redacted] over the oil change business. Lee said to me, why did I get the oil change done? To which I replied because the change oil light came on and stayed on. Where upon he said that his mechanic had forgotten to switch off this oil warning and if I had looked up in the corner of the windshield I would have seen that the oil didn't really need changed. I told him I did not look at this and the Jiffy Lube people did not tell me anything to collaborate this information. He then said I left the van like a junk site and I told him I did not vacuum it because I had to spend 2 hours of my vacation time sitting in a Jiffy Lube. Things got heated and I hung the phone up on him.I am filing this complaint mainly because of the way this service person treated me - like a complete it - when the fault lay with him and the company he represents.Desired Settlement: I would like some sort of an apology and the $47 that I spent to have the oil changed. I will never do business with supplier again.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. Leeway Rent-A-Car is mistaken on the main point of this complaint. The message on the vehicle's dashboard did not read 10% oil life but read change oil soon or something to that effect. I called my husband, who did not accompany us on out trip, and he said since we had such a long trip ahead of us that I should get it changed. When I spoke to Leeway concerning this oil light message I was told that their mechanic had forgotten to turn it off. Leeway has changed their story. Furthermore, I waited at Jiffy Lube for 2 hours to have the oil changed, not one hour, and told Leeway this. I did not vacuum the van out when we returned it because my time waiting at Jiffy Lube, during my vacation, was worth more than the $6 or so that it would take to vacuum out the van. This service person was rude and condescending to me which is why I lost my temper - something I do not condone but I don't much like to be lied to either.
