Dear [redacted],This is an unfortunate incident and I understand that you are upset about the problems with your 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.This vehicle wasn't purchased from our dealership and we have not done any previous work on it so we do not have any maintenance records. When the...

vehicle was brought in to our store on a trailer it was stated that while driving at 55 to 60 mph the vehicle died. The check engine light was on and the #1 cylinder was misfiring.Our technician identified that the #2 cylinder was unplugged and over fueled. After fixing that and the key code he was able to get the vehicle to run. He performed preliminary tests and the vehicle passed.At that point he took it on a test drive to identify how the vehicle was running. He had gone less than two miles in town when the vehicle stopped running due to rod failure. We towed the vehicle back to the dealership and contacted you about it.This was an unexpected outcome, however expecting us to replace the engine on a vehicle with over 200,000 miles is excessive due to the known issues that it was having.If we can help you in any other way, please let me know.Sincerely,Jerry H[redacted]Service Manager

Our service department, as well as the local GMC store, has tried to determine the cause of thecheck engine light randomly turning on since shortly after you purchased the 2008 GMC Sierrafrom our store. Even though the vehicle runs fine, it is concerning that the check engine lightcontinues to turn...

on.After speaking with a representative at Goss Motors I learned that their diagnosis to replacethe pistons was determined by reading a bulletin, not from testing or tearing down the engine.I believe that further testing should be done to specifically identify the problem and we havebeen working on that. Since May 17, 2016, you have had complimentary use of our 2015Dodge Dart so that a technician could drive the Sierra in hopes of identifying the cause of theissue.Our General Manager, Robert B[redacted] and I spoke with you on June 3, 2016. You agreed that weshould be allowed to continue to do additional tests to identify the problem. We planned toperform a weekly oil consumption test for the next 3,000 miles. After determining whether ornot the check engine light is caused by the vehicle burning oil we would discuss the options asfar as replacing the pistons and rings. Knowing this testing will take some time, we alsoprovided you with the option of trading in the vehicle for a different one.Today, June gth you notified Mr. B[redacted] that you are electing to trade in the 2008 GMC Sierra fora different vehicle and we are prepared to do that in hopes of providing you with a vehicle youcan feel safe and comfortable driving.Our customer satisfaction is very important to us and we will continue to help you until yourtransportation needs are taken care of.Sincerely,Jerry H[redacted]Service Manager
