Legal Sea Foods Reviews (3)

I visited Legal Seafood recently with a large party. I was very disappointed with the way in which my food had come out. The food was thrown all over the plate as if it was hiding something and the lettuce was very soggy. The plates of others were actually handled with care. I received some smirks and laughs from surrounding party. I would hope that my food experience and health was not compromised over a personal bias.

And I'm still trying to figure out what that pearly white substance is in the cranberries cause the sauce underneath is clearly mustard in color.

Review: I need this forwarded to a manager because I do not feel like waiting a month to receive a response via snail mail and most certainly do not wish to speak to anyone from your company.

Yesterday, a group of approximately 15 friends visited your restaurant in DC for happy hour. This location is also directly across from the [redacted] center venue where the New Kids on the Block, BoyzIIMen, and 98 degrees concert was going to be happening. As the evening went on, there were tons of people for happy hour, and wearing NKOTB shirts so I know they were also heading to the same location that we were.

When individuals first arrived to our table, the waitress (a skinny, [redacted] lady with short hair) was quick to come over and get what we needed to drink. But getting a 2nd or more, was such a production and task. We ended up going up to the bar, where it took about 10 minutes to flag down a bartender (the place wasn't busy.) Then the bartender (there was tall, [redacted] male) who I've never seen pour drinks so slowly before. I asked for 3 drinks before he knew how to make one. The service was simply awful.

Then, we are all getting ready to close out. The original waitress came up to me and hands me a check. On it, there were 3 things that were exactly the same (something rox). When I asked her what they were, she said it was drinks. I had 2 drinks at the table, so I know this was wrong. I ignored her and went up to the bar and asked the gentleman for my tab. He was sure to add his two cents and say "this is only for me not what you had at the table" in a very rude tone. I'm not sure if just thought I was stupid and that I didn't have a tab at the table. Needless to say, I did not a good tip as 1) I don't expect to return 2) he was a horrible bartender.

The lady came up to me 5 minutes later and says "YOU STILL HAVE A TAB TO PAY!!" I told her that you told me these "fox" are drinks and I only had one at the table. She "corrected" me to say that I had 2. Then why are there three????? She said she would take one off. Are these people just trying to rip off people they THINK are drunk? Your service is awful, I don't know where they feel they have the right to do this.

Also, they do have happy hour. But how they have happy for beer and selective food, but no liquor? The drinks that the bartenders made were absolutely disgusting. I ordered kamikazee shooters, and they were so gross I wanted to vomit. These are supposed to taste fruity/citrus. These were not.

As you can tell, the experience here was horrible. We will never be returning. I don't feel like going to an establishment where the staff tries to rip me off and charge more than I really order. I could have made those drinks. They were that bad.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for what I paid which was at least $20 for the table and then $20 for the bar. I don't have the receipts so I don't have the exact figures. But this was paid by credit card, so they should have my information. Then someone else in our party paid a tab for the table. I was unable to get his receipt, but we all paid our portions. As I mentioned before, she charged me for MORE than I actually had. How do I know we weren't double or triple charged for things?

Response:

Dear **. [redacted],

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me yesterday regarding ID [redacted]. I explained to **. [redacted] in an email that Legal Sea Foods does not do business of this nature via email and have called on many occasions and have even left my cell phone number for her to contact me at any time. We have located a signed check #[redacted] for **. [redacted] in the amount of $20.49. Since we do not refund credit cards, we can offer one of the following: The first option is to have **. [redacted] have her signature notarized on a Release that we would send to her, absolving Legal Sea Foods of any responsibility in this matter.

Once we have the signed and notarized Release in hand, we would write a check for the amount of the signed check, $20.49. We will not offer to send her the $40.00 she is requesting as there is no proof that this amount was paid. The second option is to send **. [redacted] a $50.00 gift card since she expresses having had such a poor experience at our restaurant. Our intention would be for her visit any of our locations and to enjoy the gift card. We feel badly that **. [redacted] had a poor experience and hope to have her as a Guest in our restaurant at some time soon again. I look forward to hearing from you as to what option **. [redacted] chooses.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I have called you back several times. As I mentioned over a week ago, it is close to impossible for me to take personal calls during the work day. Our schedules conflict and we are unable to speak on the phone which is why I asked you to email me.

I'm not sure how you do not have record of the $40, but you have the record of the lesser one. The first one I paid for was at the bar. There was an [redacted], tall built gentleman behind the bar who gave me by check and was sure to provide me with attitude when he said "this is just for the bar, you still have another tab at the table." Not sure why he was worried about that. He is at the bar.

In any case, I'm not sure if this was also looked over in my previous message, but I do not eat seafood. I came here for happy hour. I don't understand how you can provide me a gift card (so it goes back to your business), but cannot credit me. I appreciate you working with me, but I want to make sure this goes back to the restaurant that I had the initial issue with. I hope those servers are not ripping off other patrons.

I will send you my credit card statement for the $40 as PROOF that I was charged there. Please provide me with a fax number or email and I will get that to you tomorrow.

Regards,
