Long Distance America markets its services through independent, professional telemarketing agents. Long Distance America takes many thorough steps to insure that all those whom it may contract with for marketing purposes properly represent its products and services. Among these steps are strict adherence to selling guidelines, third-party verification and welcome packages for all new sales. Further, Long Distance America will terminate its contract with any marketing agencies not adhering to its strict standards, especially those involving misrepresentation. Long Distance America is forwarding the information regarding this complaint to the marketing agency responsible for this sale.
 
All Long Distance America sales obtained through telemarketing are verified by an appropriately qualified and independent third party verification service pursuant to Section 64.1120 of the Federal Communication Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R. § 64.1120. professional telemarketing agents. All sales obtained through telemarketing are

regarding this account: On September 30, 2013, a sales agent representing Long
Distance America contacted the residence of [redacted] regarding changing
telephone service for the residence to Long Distance America and spoke to [redacted]
[redacted]. The call was then transferred to a representative from Capitol
Verification who spoke to [redacted] to confirm her intent to switch the long
distance carrier to Long Distance America. During the verification process,
[redacted] confirmed that she was authorized to make carrier changes for the
applicable telephone lines, verified the number to be switched and also
confirmed all relevant account information. Mrs. [redacted] confirmed that she
understood that this was a new long distance service for all long distance
calls, including in-state, out-of-state, international, and intra-LATA toll
service calls. The verification agent informed Mrs. [redacted] of all rates and
charges that the new long distance service provided by Long Distance America
would start in five to ten days and that Long Distance America was not
affiliated with her local telephone company. For verification purposes, Mrs.
[redacted] gave her date of birth. The independent third-party verification recording
has been reviewed and Long Distance America has shown that this switch was
authorized and made with full disclosure to the customer.
 
Ms. [redacted] first contacted Long Distance America’s customer
service to inquire about the service and to request cancelation of service on
June 17, 2015.  Long Distance America
issued [redacted] a courtesy credit of $23.85 at that time.  In the interest of good customer relations,
Long Distance America has issued an additional credit of $90.14 on July 17,
2015, for a full credit. The credit should appear on the customer's local
exchange carrier phone bill within one to two billing cycles.
 
Long Distance America respectfully requests that the Bureau
close this file.
