 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  LCCC did not make it clear on their website that the withdraw information was only relevant for 15 week courses.  I went by the policy listed on the website to cancel my course, when I later received an email with a refund amount of only $73 I questioned the refund amount based on the policy listed on their website.  I was then sent the separate PDF document, which is not found on the college's website, that showed a different refund policy for different courses.  I couldn't have known the correct refund amount for my course if it was not listed on the website.  I cancelled per their written policy on the website and would like to be refunded as such.  If they have different withdraw policies for different classes it should all be clearly listed on the website and it is not.  I would not have withdrawn from the class if I knew I would be losing $272.  Due to unclear and incomplete policies listed on the LCCC website, I expected a 50% refund of my money and should receive the 50%.

Dear [redacted]:I want to thank you for bringing such a concern to our attention as we continue to satisfy all of our students with an educational experience. This response is in regards to ID [redacted]. That was submitted to your office on 6/26/2014. The information that...

the customer presented as to our withdraw policy is inaccurate. As noted on our website in regards to our refund policy the customer was referring to if the course he/she was enrolled was a 15 week full semester course. The course the customer was enrolled in was a five week summer session course online. As noted on our website the criterion used to make this complaint it states as follows:WITHDRAWAL PERIODS for full term (15 week courses): Weeks 1 through 3 of class:Student eligible for partial refund An automatic W (passing) will be reflected as the final grade on your academic transcript.• 1st Week — 100% tuition; fees are nonrefundable• 2nd Week — 50% tuition; fees are nonrefundable• 3rd Week — 25% tuition; fees are nonrefundableNOTE: All student initiated withdrawals must be processed by the end of the tenth (10th) week of the semester, For specific refund periods for classes that start at a different time and are not the full semester in duration, refer to the Refund and Withdrawal Dates” chart above for specific dates.I have attached the chart for Summer 2014If I can be of any other assistance please contact me at the above address.

Review: I registered for a class (Comparative Religion) at Lehigh Carbon Community College. I was charged $345 for the class. On the 8th day, I withdrew from the class after reading their refund policy (http://www.lccc.edu/tuition) that stated if I cancelled in the second week, I would receive a 50% refund. The website has now been updated to show Fall withdraw dates, but the policy is the same. I received an email saying my refund was only going to be $73 not $172.50. When I reached out to the financial aid department they told me they could not help me and asked me to contact the registrar's office, which I did. They told me the policy listed on their website does not apply and they only refund a small portion for withdrawing from a class on the 8th day. I explained that I cancelled based on their printed policy on the website, and would not have otherwise dropped the course. The school is refusing to honor the policy that they have on their website.Desired Settlement: I would like the full 50% refund based on the policy listed on the website.
