My complaint is with the attorney in question. Approximately in the month of June or July of 2012, I went on a website called "Find a Lawyer". I briefly explained why I needed an attorney and that, I needed the attorney to assist me in filing a law suit against my department. I am a police officer. I was being harassed by the officials at my district. I asked if I could obtain counsel to file a lawsuit. Mr. Stovell answered the ad. He set up a date and time for me to respond to his home to discuss my case. I did respond to his home and, we discussed him filing a lawsuit on my behalf for harassment. I gave him several documents as evidence of this harassment. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Stovell asked to keep my documents for review and, then he will file the lawsuit in DC Superior Court. He stated that, he would let me know. Also, I gave him a retainer of $1200.00 dollars to start the lawsuit. Between June of 2012 and June of 2013, I've had some conversations with Mr. Stovell in reference to my lawsuit [IE; additional information in reference to witnesses, additional documents, doctors information]. Mr. Stovell advised me that, he was outside the DC Superior Court to file my lawsuit and that, he would keep me posted. Time went by, I also listed Mr. Stovell as one of my friends on "[redacted]". I asked him on "[redacted]" when would my case be called. Mr. Stovell responded by saying that, my case is in Appeals. Ok, time went by. Another MPD officer, advised me to check Mr. Stovell out because, he was not explaining things to her or she didn't understand him. I referred this officer to Mr. Stovell fto assist her in filing her lawsuit. So, I checked DC Superior court for my Appeals case. There was no record. I checked to see if a case was filed. No case was filed. I came to the conclusion that, Mr. Stovell lied to me and, kept my money for doing nothing.
