Review: I rented a power washer from Leiser's Rental Barn. The machine was clearly very old but they had it working for a few seconds when I was there so I assumed it would work regardless of its age.When I got it home and tried to use it, I found that it stopped running after about 90 seconds. It continued to do this every time I restarted it. I used the machine for about an hour at the most, then stopped through sheer frustration. I called their number and left a message on their machine describing my problem(their business was closed on 9/1) . I also tried calling an 800 number for the machine company but found the number no longer in service. When I returned the machine by the required time the next day, I was told they did listen to my message but would have to try it. I explained to them that it worked for only 90 seconds and that I had 2 recordings showing how it would just shut down. They turned the machine on, then off in about 20 seconds and said it worked and that I would have to pay since I signed a contract (although the only thing I signed was the credit card slip). And that if I didn't pay I would have to go to court and I would lose since I signed a contract. I offered to pay for the time it worked for me but they refused to even discuss that option. They also refused to listen to the recordings I had. They were not interested at all in trying to resolve this situation for me. The just wanted their money. The business practices of this company only cheat the consumer. Being expected to pay $75.59 for a machine that didn't work is unfair, and unethical, in my opinion. I am going to have to rent another machine to complete the job I was unable to finish on the weekend I scheduled to do this work at my home.Desired Settlement: I do not feel I should be charged for a 24 hour use period when I was unable to use the machine for longer than 90 seconds at a time. It did not work properly at all. I will have to rent another to complete the job at my home.

I personally retrieved the Message [redacted] left on our Answering Machine. The Message was left on our Answering Machine 18 hours after the Pressure Washer was rented. The subject of the message was the Washer was not working properly and she was given a defective Washer because of her Sex. In the message she did not ask for assistance or credit. **. [redacted] leveled a charge of Sexual Discrimination and demand for a full refund. I take particular offense to the message and the statements of Discrimination she made to my Employees. The Washer **. [redacted] received was tested and found in good working order and she was instructed in it's use when it was picked up. The Washer was tested again and found to be in good working order when it was returned. In **. [redacted]'s Complaint she contends that we only ran the unit for 20 seconds our surveillance video tells a different story.

The Machine that **. [redacted] rented happens to be the same machine that we use everyday to clean our own equipment. We used it in our Store the day she picked it up and we have used the Machine all this week. Again our Video Recordings can prove it works properly.

I suspect that **. [redacted] did not move the Choke Lever from the Start Position to the Run position as she was instructed. On any other day except Sunday **. [redacted] call would have been answered and she would have been instructed to move the choke lever to the run position. This is a problem encountered by other customers. We explain and demonstrate starting Instructions to all Customers.

When problems arise on Sundays we normal make adjustments. However **. [redacted] decided to inject Sexual Discrimination. Sexual Discrimination is a serious charge that had no place in this business transaction.

Included in this Fax is a Contract signed by **. [redacted].

[redacted], If you would like review our Security video or **. [redacted] Phone Message please contact me. When a Customer throws out unsubstantiated claims of Discrimination they ara not going to endear themselfs to any business.

We treat every Customer with the respect they deserve.

I am rejecting this response because:

The young men that work at this establishment did not run the machine for the same length of time that I tried to use it when I returned on Monday. They did however, threaten to take me to court and assured me I would lose because I signed a contract.

Yes, I was instructed on how to use the machine and to think that I did not understand how to adjust a choke does imply to me that they assume my ignorance. I highly doubt they would make this same assumption if I were a man. Do they really think that I didn't listen to their directions or didn't understand them. Sorry but it's not that tough. I understand how chokes work and have used machines like this for more years than these young men have been alive.
