A few weeks ago my husband was buying a car from ***. Since their dealership was so busy I decided to walk to Leith Acura to take a look at the new 2019 ***.

I had previously tried to purchase the 2017 and 2018 *** but was too upside down in my trade so could not afford the vehicle however I thought I would just take a look at the new model, since it was completely redesigned, as I never actually sat in the *** before.

I was met with ***. He was a very nice gentleman and let me sit in the SUV and went over the features. He explained that Leith would probably be able to help me so I scheduled an appointment with *** for the next Friday at 11:30 AM.

On that Friday I arrived at the dealership at 11:20 AM. I walked into the showroom and no one greeted me. I finally found a random person and stated I had an appointment with ***. ***, to my dismay, was helping a middle-aged couple so I in turn was helped by ***. This was my first impression of Leith Acura and not a great one. If you have a scheduled appointment with a customer you should honor it.

*** helped me with my questions, took me on a test drive, and laid out my options. I thanked him and told him I would think it over on the weekend. I had emailed *** a day later asking if I could do a longer term and put a little more down, would that make my payments in my ideal range? Long story short, yes they could work with me. Since it was later on Saturday we agreed I would pick up my new vehicle on Monday afternoon during a lunch break.

Excitedly I drove to Leith Acura on my lunch to pick up my new ***. Unfortunately there was a bit of a wait, however, I realized I could work through my lunch the next day to try to make up the time at work. I finally met with the Finance department. When it came time for my down payment I gave them my credit card and was told that Leith does not have down payments via Credit Card. I was a bit astonished by this since my husband was able to make his down payment via plastic at the *** dealership. *** had asked if I could drive with him to a bank to get him cash and/or check. I told him this wasn't possible since my bank does not have a physical location in North Carolina. After much back and forth it was finally agreed that they would take this form of payment. This was my second not-so-great impression of the dealership. Also, since I was already delayed a couple of hours, *** told me we could meet-up later in the week so he could go over all the features in the vehicle since we didn't have time to do so that day.

Fast forward two days later I received a couple of calls from Leith Acura at work. I was a bit dismayed since I do not like getting personal calls at work. They finally left a voicemail stating I call them back immediately. I thought what now? I called them back and was told by the Finance department they "forgot" to add the accessories package to the total price of the car and they need to raise my monthly payment. I told them this wasn't going to happen. Either they eat the cost or give me my old vehicle back. Later that day I was to meet with *** to go over the details of the vehicle. I was so stressed as I didn't know if the vehicle was mine or not. I took this opportunity to call my bank and discuss the scenario, as well as email *** to discuss my situation who is the current GM of the dealership.

I drove to meet with ***, who forgot, so I had to get in touch with him and remind him I was waiting for him. At this time I was to sign new forms, that showed the new inventory on the vehicle. My payment remained the same. However, as of now I have not received the new forms in the mail. I have followed-up with *** twice to get the forms and was told they were kept at the *** dealership and they would be mailed out.

In the future, I hope my experience is a great training scenario for others looking to purchase a vehicle from Leith Acura. *** treated my husband like royalty. I was treated not as well at Acura. Leith please take notes from the *** dealership. Do not try to take advantage of your customers for your mistakes.

I purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle on January 20,2018. After having the vehicle 16 days its at the dealership with transmission issue.
I purchased the vehicle January 20, 2018 and picked the vehicle up on January 22, 2018. 2015 Acura TLX Advance, Vin# ***. I paid $22,250 for the vehicle plus tax, title and tag fees. I noticed the vehicle not shifting properly and called the service department on February 5, 2018, made an appointment to take it in on February 7, 2018 at 8 am. I took the vehicle in and a technician went out on a test drive with me to see if it would duplicate what my concern was and it did. We returned to the dealership and I was given a loaner to drive while they diagnosed the problem. *** called me at 2:41 pm and informed me the car needed a transmission and it was covered under warranty. I then informed my salesman *** that I did not want the car. After only having it for 16 days I did not feel safe for fear of other things being wrong with the car. He told me he absolutely understood. I then talked to the Sales Manager *** on February 8, 2018. He told me that at least the car was under warranty and a transmission was being put in the car. I told him my concerns and he ask what did I think they would do. They will not give me my down payment of $7,000 back and they will not trade the vehicle for the amount I paid for it just 16 days ago.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund of my deposit so that I can purchase another vehicle that I will have confidence in or an even trade for the same amount that I paid for the 2015 Acura TLX.

They did in fact trade me out of the 2015 TLX for the amount I paid for the car. I traded the vehicle in for a 2014 Lexus that cost less. The difference was applied to the loan on the Lexus. I now have to wait for a refund from the bank. They told me it would take 4 weeks to receive the refund. Thanks for your help. Without you involved I do not think they would have been so willing to trade me out for what I paid.
