Lejeune Honda Cars Reviews (2)

On 1/14/2016 I took my 2002 GSXR 750 To Lejeune Motorsports to have a small oil leak diagnosed. They diagnosed the oil lead, and told me that they would have the bike ready for pick up the following day. During trying to repair the oil leak, their tech, tried to remove a rubber gasket, the wrong way, and it wound up causing the bike to be in the repair shop for the next month. They had supposedly repaired the oil lead, on 2/12/2016. That's when I got a call from Lejeune Motorsports telling me that the repairs had been made, the bike was no longer leaking oil, and that it was running great. I wen't immediately and picked the bike up. Road it home, and it remained in the garage for the next two days due to weather. I notices on 2/14/2016 that the bike was still leaking oil. I noticed this by putting cardboard under the bike. Also I noticed that the bike was now leaking coolant. Just small amounts, but after a month of service being repaired, this was unacceptable. Anwyway I had to use the bike to run to the store, so I went out to the garage, started the bike, let it warm up for a couple of minutes and when I was backing the bike out of the garage, it caught fire. The bike's whole body kit melted, and I and the garage were covered in oil. We called the fire department and the police and filed reports with both. The next business day I notified Lejeune Motorsports about the issue, the bike is useless now, and they verbally promised to either repair the bike or to provide me with a bike of comparable value, if it was going to be to expensive to fix. That was two weeks ago. Later That day they changed their mind, and decided to tell me they were turning the issue over to their insurance company and that I should hear something from the adjuster within 2-3 business days. ITS BEEN TWO WEEKS. I've heard nothing. They have stopped returning phone calls, and meanwhile I am stuck with a bike that is completely totaled. I'm not sure what else to do besides file with you guys. Thanks!Product_Or_Service: Oil Leak fixedOrder_Number: XXXXXXDesired SettlementI would like to have the bike repaired or replaced as promised by the Service department manager [redacted] At the very least, I wold like to have their insurance adjuster contact me, and come value the bike, as promised by the General Manager [redacted].Business Response [redacted] did bring in his motorcycle for repairs. We wrongly diagnose his oil leak issue and offered to repair it at our expense. The repair did require a long time for repairs because motor had to come a part to fix. After repairs were complete, Mr [redacted] took his motorcycle home and stated it had caught on fire. I told him to bring it in for us to look at for repairs, because we have never caught a motorcycle on fire before. After we picked it up and examined motorcycle I noticed the after market oil filter(not original equipment) o-ring had popped out causing oil leak and fire. The oil filter was never removed during our repairs. After that we sent the issue over to our insurance company. At this time I do not know if he has been contacted by them.Consumer Response As I mentioned in my original complaint, when I brought the bike home it was still leaking oil, and now leaking coolant as well. I paid at least $250 for the repair and was told that the oil leak was taken care of. I have video documentation of the oil leaking the day after I brought the bike home. After contacting numerous mechanics and completing research, I have found out that oil leaking onto the exhaust would be the least likely cause of a fire. Especially, High Performance OEM oil that Lejeune Motorsports listed as the oil they put in the bike. It won't ignite until it reaches well over 7000 degrees. On that cold February day, my bike only idled for 2-4 minutes before catching fire. The mechanics I spoke with also stated that the fire could have been caused by something electrical, gas leakage, or even a body kit mounting error. Further more, there are many things that could have caused the oil filter ring to pop out. The fire itself could have been the cause of this. You admitted to having to take the entire engine apart. If one of many possible mistakes were made while reassembling the engine, it could definitely cause pressure to build resulting in the blow out of the o ring from the oil filter. Also, I noticed that my exhaust grew approximately two inches longer than it was when I brought the bike to you. After keeping in contact with [redacted] throughout the repair, he admittedly struggled tremendously while trying to reattach the exhaust. With all of the mistakes made while trying to repair the original oil leak, I have every reason to believe that it was another mistake that Lejeune MotorSports made, that caused the fire. Not to mention that I was told the bike was taken for a test ride prior to my picking the bike up. If this was the case, why did paperwork show the same exact mileage on drop off date that it was on pick up date? The fire department reported a strong scent of gasoline, along with a strong scent of oil. I might not know exactly what caused the fire, but I do know, that Lejeune MotorSports worked on my bike for a month straight and made mistake after mistake. Then two days after getting the bike back, and my first time trying to take it for a ride, it caught fire. I have left a voicemail with the insurance adjuster today, 03/04/2016, and have yet to hear a reply. Final Business Response Will gladly fix any oil or coolant leak caused by us. The fairing on this bike was all ready burnt by the exhaust, None of the original equipment is installed. It had miss matched bolts and fasteners. The fairing was all ready rubbing on the frame, but no electrical components are on that side of fairing. There was not a mistake after mistake that was taking so long, it was the poor condition of the motorcycle. The exhaust studs snapped when removing and took some time drilling them out. Which is out side the motor, Several wires were rusted and needed repaired which was done at no cost to the customer. The only hold up was the condition of this bike witch is corrosion. The test ride was done in parking lot. When oil is spraying a mist over hot exhaust it could catch on fire. I agreed to fix anything that we have done. Not to repair something beyond our control.

The dealership replaced a part in my 1995 Honda Del Sol which was not broken. On December 30, 2015 I took my car to the dealership because the drivers side door would not open from the outside. It opened fine from the inside. Shortly after I dropped off my car I was told that the door latch and door lock actuator needed to be replaced. I went down and authorized the repairs believing that the authorization reflected all the problems with the issue. I picked up the car and received the old parts. My father looked at them and first noticed that the actuator was NOT seized as the dealership told us. He also spent about 20 seconds with the door latch and was able to get EVERY component of the door latch to work with minimal effort. He repeated this process 30 times to show me how easy the door latch operated. On 1/19/2016 I asked my sister [redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX) to take the old parts back to the dealership to ask them what was wrong with the door latch. She spoke with Mr. [redacted] who, according to my sister, did not listen clearly to the concerns. She attempted to show him that the actuator was not seized and could be moved by hand, he did not want to listen to her. My brother-in-law was also there and he attempted to show how easily the door latch worked. Mr. [redacted] said look here is a corroded part, my brother-in-law pointed out that yes it has a little corrosion but DID NOT affect the functionality. My sister left without the concerns being addressed. Later the same day my father called ([redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX), due to the fact he had inspected the old parts. He also spoke with Mr. [redacted] who apparently just kept repeating, "we had prior authorization, the car is fixed and I [redacted] not make any adjustments to the [redacted]." My father told me that Mr. [redacted] even made a comment saying that we (my family and I) had tried to fix the door, we couldn't so what was the problem. During the conversation my father asked why the door latch worked fine outside of the door. Mr. [redacted] said that the rods between the door latch and the actuator were binding up. My father asked him then weren't they the problem. He did not receive an answer to his question. During the conversation Mr. [redacted] told my father approximately six times, "we had prior authorization, we fixed the problem and we [redacted] not make any adjustments." The prior authorization I signed was made in good faith that the problem was properly diagnosed from the beginning. What the dealership did was order all the internal parts in the door which could have caused the issue, replaced everything with new parts and said look we fixed the problem. Replacing every component is not a way to properly fix an issue. I [redacted] be willing to show anyone how EASY it is to operate the door latch outside of the car. I am a 22 year old college student who suffers from Graves disease and do not have the money to replace parts just for the sake of replacing them. I expected a fair and accurate initial proposal from the dealership about the issue. Mr. [redacted] should be ashamed of his behavior during this process. I just sent the lock actuator to my father who is going to verify that it was indeed bad as well. The only reason I mention this is that there may be additional comments I may be able to make once he tests the parts. He is going to apply 12 volts to the actuator and see if it indeed is bad and also to hopefully to test the strength of the mechanism.Desired SettlementI am asking for the cost of the latch assembly and the associated labor cost to be refunded. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] General ManageContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@lejeunemc.comThe [redacted]'s brought in their 1995 Honda Del Sol and informed the service advisor that the drivers front door would not open from the outside. The advisor confirmed the problem and got the OK to diagnose. A Honda Certified technician determined that it would need a drivers door latch and lock actuator. The parts must work in unison and both parts were required. After the diagnoses was done the customer was informed of the problem and was given an estimate for the cost of the repair. The repair was approved and the work was completed per their request. It's common for vehicles over 20 years old to have parts that simple were out over time or miles. We understand all repairs are costly and do our best to make sure we do them in the best interest of our customers as we did in this case. The vehicle was fixed properly with the parts required. Please let us know if there would be any other considerations to resolve the issue, it's always our goal to maintain a good working relationship with our customers. Consumer Response My father called Mr. [redacted] on 1/25/2016, according to my father Mr. [redacted] is going to look into this further due to him receiving additional information from my father. My brother-in-law made a video of himself operating the door latch outside of the car. My father sent this to Mr. [redacted] on 1/25/2016. According to my sister, [redacted] when she met with [redacted] on 1/19/2016, Mr. [redacted] had the door latch in his hands and indeed verified that it was working correctly. Once again I have to ask the simple question, "If the latch works outside of the car properly, but not inside that car then doesn't that mean that something else was the problem?" My father did receive the door lock actuator that I sent to him so that he could test it. My father could not get the actuator to function, so he does believe that part was bad. He said he would look at it again is a couple of days, he is studying for work and did not have a lot of free time today. Once he looks at it again I will add more on the Revdex.com complaint. My father, sister and brother-in-law all have expressed doubt and concern about the door latch functioning so freely outside of the car. Doesn't it make sense that it was/is not the problem. As you [redacted] see in the video my father sent the door latch works fine. One note about the video that short rod my brother-in-law is operating is for the outside door handle, which is where I was having trouble. The car opened fine using the inside door handle. You will also notice that my brother-in-law is operating the door lock manually and everything works as it should. Please refund the price I paid for the door latch and the associated cost to install it. Final Business Response Case #XXXXXXXX [redacted] To Whom It may Concern, We spoke with [redacted] and her father after the second email and were able to come to an agreement that both parties felt was a fair resolution. A refundwas given for the repair for the door lock. Thank you for your assistance in resolution to the issue with the [redacted]'s. [redacted]General Manager
