Review: My husband and I were looking to have our galley kitchen cabinets painted. A friend of ours recommended Lemus Painting in Hartford, CT. We gave them a call and told the owner, Antonio Lemus, that it wouldn't be a big job and that we wanted to have the painting done to update our kitchen as our townhouse was currently up for sale. Antonio came out to give us a quote and we decided to hire him and his company after he quoted the job at $684.00 Our cabinets were very dark in color so Antonio said that the cabinets might need three coats. The first day was fine...his two employees arrived and began the job and applied only two coats of paint. They told us they would have it done in one day, but then told us at the end of day one, that it would take two days and they came back the second day to finish the job. I called Antonio after the first day of painting to tell him the paint was dull and lackluster and we would appreciate a third coat of paint as the dark color was coming through the white paint. I also asked that they use a high gloss paint because the satin finish was dull. He was friendly and said his painter would be back tomorrow to finish the job. The painter came back the next morning (an hour and a half late) and began the job. His painter told us how much better the high gloss looked as he had finished a few of the cabinets and we agreed and were very happy. All of a sudden, the painter started packing up his van, so I went downstairs to see what was going on. He told me that he needed to leave to meet Antonio at the office and that he would be back later to finish the other 12 cabinets. I told him that was fine and said we would see him later. My husband called Antonio and texted him as well to ask him what time his painter would be back to finish the job. Antonio did not return my husband's call or his text. I then decided to call Antonio and he answered my call. I calmly said "hello" and asked Antonio what time we might expect his painter back. He then went on to tell me that his painter would not be back to finish the job. I was shocked. I asked why and he went on to tell me that he doesn't do jobs for less than $5,000.00 He quoted our job at $684.00. Confused, I asked him why he wasn't going to finish the job that he was hired to do! He then said that he doesn't want to reattach the hardware because he is a painter. I said that was fine, we would do it ourselves and then asked again why his painter wasn't coming back to finish the job. He then said that he didn't like us and hung up on me. Antonio Lemus came to our home, gave us a quote and we hired his company. How do you start a job and then tell your painter to leave the job and leave us with a job not finished??? We are dumbfounded. What happened? Lemus Painting was hired to paint our kitchen cabinets and left us high and dry. We would like to know why this has happened as we are left with a job unfinished.Desired Settlement: We would like to file a form a complaint against Lemus Painting. We hired them to do a job and they left the job unfinished. We are now left with 12+ cabinets unfinished and we have no idea why. Other people should be aware of how unprofessional this company is and not hire them.
