I am responding To [redacted]'s complaint from his service on October 7, 2015.  We strive to provide exceptional customer service at Len Dudas Motors. Len Dudas Motors is a General Motors dealership with factory trained technicians, General Motors Certified Service, tools, and Parts....

We do multi point inspections when a vehicle comes in for service and in doing so recommend repairs. We do not do any unauthorized work, nor do we recommend unnecessary repairs. We also know our customers are very important to us as is our reputation. My technician who worked on the vehicle has worked here for almost twenty years and has an excellent reputation throughout the community. I know the work we did was all legitimate and not a "scam". Our prices are higher than others, I know that and we share that with our customers. Again, we have factory trained technicians, and use GM parts, etc. I believe our work and service is exceptional and the best in the area.I also understand that a customer can be frustrated at the time and cost to repair a vehicle. I also want to make sure my customers know I want to take great care of them. Len Dudas Motors has been here since 1982 and we take a lot of pride in being here and serving our customers and community. If Mr. [redacted] had a coupon, we always accept them. I don't know what his coupon was for, but I'd be happy to reimburse him for that. Our brake prices are up front and fair. I don't feel I owe him anything for that. In regards to the tie rods, I know they needed to be replaced. I understand that customers have to trust what we tell them, and I want to satisfy our customers as well. I would be happy to pay for part of the repair on the tie rods. I think 50% would be more than fair. Len Dudas Motors would give a refund of $250 to [redacted].

Review: I went to Len Dudas Motors on 10/07/15 because my right front brakes were dragging and/or grinding. I thought I needed a brake job on the front of my 2005 Trailblazer that I bought there in 2011. I was told my tie rods were bad, also.

The Tech changed a caliper, both rotors, & brake pads. I had a $99.95 coupon which I was never given credit for, either. The whole repair fee for the brake job was $479.38! Labor was $173.56. Parts was: $305.82. The caliper wouldn't go back in because of rust, so had to be replaced.

The tie rod was changed also at a fee of $298.98. Labor was: $148.35, & parts was: 150.63. Total price was: 298.98. Total on both comes to: $789.52 plus tax, $43.42 equals: $832.94 on my Mastercard.

And they wanted to do the upper ball joints, also? And gold fillings in my teeth at the same time while I was waiting? I couldn't afford it, so a credit card had to be used. I feel I was scammed for the tie rods & brake job because all I needed was a brake job, & brake job shouldn't cost $479.38! They charged me: $68.58 for brake pads, alone, which are "premium". And they wanted to do the upper ball joints, also?

I got an estimate from AutoSelect on Hwy 10, Stevens Point, WI for a brake job around $300. All I needed was a brake job which would have have costed around $300 at AutoSelect in Stevens Point. Why was I charged $479?Desired Settlement: A refund of $500.00. I wasn't shown how bad the tie rods were, or the caliper.

Consumer

Response:

I purchased an SUV from Len Dudas Motors in the spring 2013. The test drive went great and we went ahead with the purchase a few days later. We had a half hour drive home and by the time I got there I was hearing a sound from the front of the car when turning corners. Since it was past business hours I called the individual I worked with right away the next morning. I told him what I was hearing and he "penciled" me in for the following Thursday(almost a week later) to have the car in the shop. I took time off work to drive down there to find out that the appointment that was set up was just for a technician to get in the car and drive around the block with me to hear the sound. I then had to set up another appointment to have the car go into the shop for the following week. I dropped it off and picked up a rental. They indicated that I should have a call from them by noon the next day. When that was not received I called them. They still didn't know where the sound was coming from. Later that day I had a message telling me that the driver side wheel bearing was going out as well as a part with the strut on the passenger side. They told me it would cost me over $800 to repair it. I told them they should cover the cost as the sound was heard within 30 minutes of purchase. They then had to talk with a different individual and get back to me. From the next call they indicated that they would cover the cost of the wheel bearing as that is a hazard but I would have to pay for the other part. I again told them they will be covering the cost of repair. Again I was told I would get a call back. The next day they indicated that I would have to pay for half of the cost to repair the other part and again didn't take the offer. Finally I was able to get in touch with the manager of used auto sales. I told him the situation and what I wanted to see happen. He told me "WE JUST SOLD YOU THIS AND WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE PUTTING $800 INTO IT." I was furious. I went on to tell him how horrible the experience was and how I am getting the shaft(keep in mind I had their rental car advertising for them the whole time). Finally after much much arguing he talked with the other individuals I worked with and determined that I truly called as soon as they were open the following day after purchase so they were going to cover the repair of the other part. I was without my vehicle for 5 days due to the situation. From that point on I decided I will never do business with them again.
