Horrible Experience
First I wish there was an option to give 0 stars, I am the type of person that rarely gives a review but I was outraged at the mentality of these people, almost like professional thieves. I went for an eye exam and wanted to buy buy some glasses, in the past have gone to nice places and spent no more than 400 I understood that maybe the prices go up and therefore had a budget of 400 to 700 but the prices they wanted to charge me for a location in a poor neiborhood was outrageous, $1500 was what the lady told me. Second I have never had any problems with my eyes except for being sensitive to light, I read well from afar and close up, but somehow they rigged the test to say that I had a potential glaucoma, I could not see from afar(which I can) and that I need needed a lot of vision correction, now mind you I'm in my early 30s and have never used glasses the ladies there seem to feel they are on a pedestal for some reason, very rude, and s, I have no migraines, I see well small letters and I don't squint or force my eyesight. Thirds arrogant and just an attitude of I could be doing something better with my time, and the doctor just seems clueless. After all of this I left and decided to call a few different eye places and explain what had happen and they said the same that's seems a bit off, come and we will check you and to make this story short, I got my eyes check by a professional, took her time, over an hour, very nice and patient, and I got brand name glasses, just reading glasses to help with the computer light, antiglare, and eye drops, and everything came out to less than 500. All I want is for people to be careful and check for other places, don't settle, these people are scammers, thank you for reading.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[After reading the manager's reply to my complaint I am enraged!. I cannot believe a business would lie about every statement that they just made! And just to put it very simply just so that the Revdex.com does not get confused by a long statement I will make a list..
1. I never complained about having bad vision. I asked if they take my insurance and if so then could I get an exam right then and there.
2. When I was left waiting the sales person on the computer WAS on social media..specifically on [redacted] which she was showing the other sales person pictures of her son when he was born and commenting that she has not been on [redacted] in such a long time.
3. The other sales person WAS on a personal call since she was speaking loudly to the person on the other line and unprofessional which you would not hear in a normal office setting.
4. I was NEVER trying on frames. You can check the camera footage around Sept [redacted] around early afternoon. I was sitting on the sofa the entire time!
5. The doctor WAS in fact eating something. The image of him eating something as he was preparing to examine me will never leave my mind.
6. The sales rep WAS being rude. When I asked about to get my prescription the sales rep in front of me just looked over at the other sales rep on a personal call and she shrugged and said "[redacted]" and was threatening me that I would loose my credit from my insurance if I do not use it in their store THAT day.
7. The [redacted] representative was very professional and when she hung up the phone..first words were "[redacted]" Very hard to believe that the sales rep of Lens Express was being professional if the [redacted] sales rep's first words were "[redacted]".
8. I am a manager of at a 4 star hotel in nyc off of fifth ave. I do not understand how the sales rep came to the conclusion that I am not "f[redacted]" I did not want to be forced to purchase glasses in that particular store. That is my decision.
I am appalled to see that they would lie about every single statement and make up things like me "trying on several frames" this business should be closed for good! Beware!I am shocked to see such a level of indecency to another person who just wanted an eye exam. This is what it's all about..I did not want to buy their frames!]

Review: I came in to get my eyes checked since I was having a hard time seeing signs and my computer monitor at work. There were two female employees there that day and I asked if they took my insurance and if so could I get an eye exam that day. I gave them my information and they told me to wait a few minutes to receive a fax confirmation from the insurance company. While I was waiting one was checking their social media through the desktop computer in her job. When the fax came in they told me that they would be able to accept my insurance and just pay $10 copay for the eye exam. I asked them could I get an eye exam now and they told me the doctor was on his way from lunch but he should be in shortly so I waited another few minutes while the same person continued with her social media checking and the other was on a personal call with what seemed to be a relative. An elderly Caucasian man walked in a few minutes later (around his late 60's) with his very young latina date. And he was socializing while I'm there waiting for my exam. He then told me to come in his lab/office in which he started putting snakcs in his mouth and he was chewing on it during the exam with no lab coat. When he was done he left right after with his date while I was left to handle my perception with the two ladies who have been taking care of me. The one who was looking up her social media over the web started telling me that I was eligible for a 45$ credit towards a pair of glasses. And she was telling me that I can put money down as a deposit if I couldn't pay everything today. I was confused because not once had I mentioned anything about purchasing glasses but out of curiosity I asked "what would be your cheapest pair?" She told me that they only sell designer brands and that the cheapest was $399. I said $400??? Then I said well I won't be buying any glasses today I just came in for an eye exam, then they lady told me I would lose my insurance credit if I don't use it today. I asked why would I lose my insurance..I don't get it. She explained that when I came in they asked my insurance for credit towards an exam and glasses and now since they were both asked for I would have to use it in their store today I would lose the credit towards glasses. I asked her why she wpuld ask for credit for glasses if I did not want glasses and never asked for them. The lady who has been on a personal call this hold time took two seconds away from her personal call to tell me "[redacted]" I responded to her that that was not a good reason and it doesn't help me because they "assumed" something. I told them other people who came in is not me and I came specifically asking for two things "do you accept my insurance and if so can I get an eye exam" and now that since they made an assumption I will be loosing my credit. I told them I shouldn't be forced to spend $400 and for that reason before forcing people to spend that much they should ask what services they would want and the policy of loosing their credit. I was so upset they were giving me a bad time that I asked them to please give me my prescription and I will purchase the glasses somewhere else even if it meant me loosing my credit because I know I could get a better deal and I also wasn't planning on spending $400 when I just wanted an eye exam. The lady looked at the other lady who was on the phone and asked if she should give me my prescription which she shriy and said "[redacted]" she filled out a paper and handed it to me and paid my $10 for eye exam. This was on 9/**/15 yesterday 10/**/15 I have the opportunity to get glasses in taget and she looks at the prescription and says that they filled it out wrong that it was missing information (the stigmatism) and she says that this was not an accident (I have not told her what happened with the other lens place). She said she would have to call to get the prescription faxed. She called right then and there and they first didn't want to give it to her in which she said that I have the right to my prescription and she would need it in order to get me my glasses and when she explained what she needed she told them the prescription wasn't filled out correctly and she knew it was not an accident so to please comply. They told her the information she needed over the phone but that the doctor is not in to authorize them faxing over my prescription. After hanging up, the person taking care of me told me that the lady over the phone was "really nasty" with her. They were literally trying to hold my prescription hostage!Desired Settlement: I would like them to credit me on glasses I purchase somewhere else because I would not want them to handle my prescription glasses. And refunded for the $10 I paid out of pocket from them.

Response:

This statement is in response to complaint ID#[redacted] My name is Joyce P[redacted], I am the manager at Lens Lab Express located at [redacted] In response to the complaint I have a few things that I would like to clarify concerning this situation. At no point was I informed or contacted by the client concerning this issue. Normally it would be the first step one takes to settle an issue before filing a complaint. On behalf of myself and my staff and the accusations that were made I can justify that clearly there are many false statements being made by the customer. Our doctors are professionals and most have been practicing for decades and particularly this doctor who has excellent work ethics and would never chew while he is examining especially since he had already had lunch. As for our sales girls one at the time was billing on our computer not viewing social media. As for the sales girl was not on the phone while she was attending the customer. [redacted] asked for and exam and complained about not seeing well. She was asked if she had any vision insurance and she informed us she had [redacted]. We took all the necessary information and checked for eligibility and once that was confirmed she was provided with an extensive detail of what was and was not covered under her plan. She then agreed and decided to have her eyes examined. She was told that the doctor was out to lunch and would return shortly. In the meantime she asked for designer frames and was told that they start at an asking price of $299.00 and was allowed to apply her insurance allowance towards the cost which would reduce her cost significantly. After trying on several frames she decided she wasn't ready financially for eyeglasses. She was told she would pay the copay of $10.00 and she did. We billed the insurance for the exam and that was it. In response to the complaint as to when the optical called to verify her prescription I personally answered the call. I explained to the sales person that our doctor was gone for the day and I would be more than happy to fax over the prescription first thing the following morning solely because a doctors signature was needed. I also suggested that I can verify in the meantime what they had on hand. The prescription was correct and was faxed over the following morning. On my defense I would like to express that I was not rude in any way the sales person that I spoke to that evening. I would never conduct myself in that manner. I gain nothing from it. Although the sales person was in fact rude I kept my composure and ended the call with have a great evening. [redacted] did in fact use the prescription that was given to her therefore I do not see why a refund is being requested. She also used her [redacted] vision benefits and that same location. I also do not see why she would expect credits from our establishment. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Sincerely Joyce P[redacted]
