When Mr. [redacted] brought this snowmobile into our store, because of the very poor condition it was in, our...

service manager documented many of the problems with the machine before we even touched it. When repairs were made, service manager would not even let anyone test drive because sled in such bad shape he felt it unsafe. Over the years, we have moved thousands of snowmobiles with fork lifts. Physically impossible to do damage he is claiming. It takes a direct front end hit to bend the part he claims we did. Mr. [redacted] did test drive snowmobile before loading it and taking home, and then came in complaining arm was bent.
We have been in business here since 1969, and I believe this is our first complaint to you. We have learned over the years, when we get a old beat up snowmobile like this, to document any problems, scratches, dings, whatever. For some reason, if it going to happen, these are the ones that the owner may claim we did damage. We show them that we had it written down when we received the machine, and nine out of ten times they say, oh yea, I guess I did do that. Amazing.
From here on out, our new policy is to document and take pictures of damage when machines brought in to us.
If I, we, had any question that we did do this, we would have fixed the problem. Leones has been in business way to long with a great reputation to not fix a $150 issue if we did it.
If Mr. [redacted] would like, if he would pay for the part, within reason, we would do the labor to replace. I say within reason, because on a snowmobile this old, may get into lots more problems when trying to replace bent part.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/01/25) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is what does not make sense to me about Mr. [redacted] reply.. I have a photo of the undamaged snowmobile from the day before I brought it. I mailed a picture of it to a friend in [redacted]. I also have two witnesses that helped me load the snowmobile on the trailer and saw it load smoothly. Secondly, I would not have had the engine worked on if the sled was too damaged to ride. Thirdly, I saw the fork truck pick up the snowmobile from the trailer. The fork goes directly under the damaged trailing arm. It is apparent that the ski must have been under something when the sled was moved into the shop to be worked on and bent the trailing arm at 45 degrees.
When I was notified about the engine repairs, it was stated that they would have to wait for snow to test drive it. It was not indicated to me that they were afraid of riding it, or that they saw damage. I went there the day of the snowfall to try and get my sled back for use on the following day.
Frankly, the sled is older as stated and not worth putting more money into suspension parts. I would be happier if they just reimbursed the 130 dollars labor for engine work. I basically paid them to fix a wreck at this point. I was very disappointed in how this was handled. I am a business professional and not out to con someone out of anything. Just trying to do what is right.
