Leon's Furniture Store Reviews (1)

Purchased a leather furniture set along with the extra leather warranty. Set peeled etc, still within 5yr warranty, now they claim not covered.Delivery date 05/20/10, purchased 05/9/10. order number 05090sarsnl. sales person [redacted]. [redacted]. Payed by leons card $4136.95 (sofa, loveseat, recliner and leather care package) Sofa($1499.00)/loveseat ($1479.00)were effected as recliner not used. Leather platinum care package ($259.00). Problem started appearing early with fading to the leather and cracking/peeling seams. We thought we were doing something wrong, so we increased the moisturizing schedule to try and prevent it. Slowly got worse. Recently had a furniture person tell us that we did not do anything wrong, if it was actual real leather (like we were told at purchase)so it could be bonded as it is peeling. Inquired with leons, who told us it was real leather and shouldn't do that. Asked about repair or replace, as our warranty card they gave us says that covers pet/human bodily fluid damage, drinks, rips tears, cracking and peeling due to moisture loss. even says in the warranty "magi seal will provide remedial services in the unlikely event the leather furnishing, after treatment, should lose its natural moisture resulting in cracking or peeling". Sent pictures for evidence of both fading and peeling of furniture. They bounced back and said that they don't cover the peeling because it was caused by the fading- but they happened at same time. They come up with this portion on their exclusion section I : "cracking or peeling (other than caused by moisture loss on treated leather furniture)"- I assume then they mean that since we moisturized and it still peeled it is not covered, despite their other claim for what is covered, since they told us it was due to fading now without even sending a repair man to look. Then they added in that our manufacturers warranty expired after 1 year. And re-told us they don't cover cracking and peeling even though our coverage paper said so. SO a customer gets dinged for trying to moisturize. We were even told that our coverage may have changed since purchase, however, we purchased what we did and never were informed of any changes and or did not agree to any changes to coverage. We would like the company to stand by their products and the warranty protection services they sell to people. We purchased it, how come we can't use it.Desired SettlementOur first choice for settlement is $2000.00 for the sofa and loveseat - this is $1000.00 less than new and we can't even replace for $2000.00 a new leather set- so we believe it is fair. This is because we are unsure of how they would be able to repair the furniture well. Our second choice is replace with another sofa/loveseat or a sectional of approximately same value. However, this is a less desirable option. Business Response We are to inform you we have been in contact with above complainant and looking further into the matter at hand.
