As per our initial response, the client signed a contract stating that there was a non-refundable $hold the venue deposit Lewis and Clark Catering was not able to fill this date, even though at this time it was still a catering company Lewis and Clark Catering did let this particular client change the date once, and move the deposit to the new date She cancelled the venue for a second time

As per our initial response, the client signed a contract stating that there was a non-refundable $500.00 hold the venue deposit.
Lewis and Clark Catering was not able to fill this date, even though at this time it was still a catering company.
Lewis and Clark Catering did let this particular client change the date once, and move the deposit to the new date.  She cancelled the venue for a second time.

In response to complaint #[redacted] Lewis and Clark Catering would like to state the the client in question signed a contract, the standard contract for all events, that included a $500.00 non-refundable hold the date deposit.
 
The original date of the contract was for a wedding on 7-30-2016....

We agreed to move the deposit to 9-17-2016, per the clients request.
 
When the client decided not to hold the event, the non-refundable deposit was kept.
 
We were not able to schedule another event for this date and the employees had of income for this date.
 
Lewis and Clark also had loss of income for this date, more than the $500.00 non-refundable deposit.
 
This is a standard procedure, the ensures clients, that the event site will be not be overbooked and they will have a venue.

Note: we only received the first notification on Thursday, 10-27-16 and the second request was in our mail from Saturday 10-29-2016.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I spoke with [redacted] directly in march when I knew I wouldnt have suficient funds for my wedding in september. I told him I would be able to book a wedding for feb, but not until december and he said okay and to let him know. He did not notify his staff of the cancellation, due to the fact that I was contacted by a staff member in september a week before it should have happened asking about my guest list. . He was not out any money for the event by not having to purchase anything for it and he was given suffiecient amount of time to rebook the days in question. Once again he never said that catering wouuld no longer be offered on site at the time we spoke, but clearly he already had planned to turn the building into just a restaurant. I understand in a differewnt case where the deposit could be kept, however, I gave plenty of time for my cancellation with hopes of still having my wedding at that venue.
