Lewis Roofing Reviews (%countItem)

Company has promised to fix damage caused by roof installation. Damage incurred are, gutters, facia board stains from tar, and tar stains on walls.
Lewis Roofing company was contracted to come out on October 22nd, 2018 to replace roof. They had several issues will making the repairs which including using the wrong shingles, heavy equipment on the paves causing damage, damage to the lawn, destruction to gutters, damage to fascia boards and drip edge. Since the repairs have been completed, I have been working with the company to get the issues incurred by them fixed but have been constantly delayed. Last conversation occurred in December of 2019 which they promised to come out and and at least paint/repair the fascia boards which they are now claiming the job is to big for them and they will not be able to repaint/repair.

In addition, the permitting needed for the new roof wasn stalled or delayed and was only approved in November of 2019 due to compliance issue with the county. The county has claimed several issues with the roof but no follow-up work has been done by the contractor on the roof. To my surprise, when I followed up with the county I was told the roof has been approved due to paperwork submitted by Lewis Roofing. There are still damage to areas of the roof that was initially pointed out by the county which has not been fixed. What is currently pending is the Fascia Board, Gutters, and issues outline by the county, everything else I(owner) have fixed on my own, including paves and lawn.

Its been over a year and they have not been able to do the repairs and the house has been left looking in dismay. The homeowner association has noticed the issue and I expect to be fined. I have several texts from Lewis roofing acknowledging the issues with promises to resolve if needed.

Desired Outcome

I would like for them to repaint the fascia boards, fix the gutters and remove tar stains off the roof.

None of the things in the complaint are in the original contract.

How can it be listed in the contract if it was DESTROYED by your workers. They acknowledged that they damaged the facia with Tar and would fix it, the gutters were removed and placed back incorrectly and have been causing more issues because the rain water is now being diverted to other areas of the property causing flood. If you want to go back to the original contract, it does not list the Harvest shingles which were incorrectly ordered and installed, which was not approved by the HOA. It's very ignorant to claim go the contract route instead of fixing the issues caused by YOUR workers.

It states in the contract that Lewis Roofing will not be held responsible for damage to the gutters. We have paid a Gutter company to come out and repair the gutters and did not charge you anything. The fascia was not damaged but there is some staining from the flashing cement that Florida building code requires us to put on the perimeter of the house. It can be cleaned off with a pressure washer. I have personally been to your home and know that you bought a house that was in need of a lot of repairs and cleaning. The home was left vacant for a really long time and the fascia and exterior was not in pristine clean condition before the reroof.

Not responsibility for damages to the gutters, where does it say the removal of the gutters from the facia. It was completely removed and destroyed. As for my the facia needing repairs, the facia was painted and seal 1 month before lewis roofing started the project, so it was in prestine condition before it was stained from the cement. That's why there were several promises by Lewis Roofing to repaint.

Again, as for the contract your holding me responsible for, why do we have the wrong shingles on the roof?

I could not be happier with our new roof and the Team from Lewis roofing! Robert L was quick to come out and give me an original quote and went the extra mile to help me get what I needed for insurance purposes. Though I got several additional estimates, others didn't come close to offering the value and awesome warranty that Lewis offered. Plus, their online reviews were very positive, so it was a fairly obvious choice. Once we decided to go with them, Kris (the crew foreman) came by to look over everything and talk me through the process ahead of time, which was very helpful. When his crew arrived, they were respectful and hard working. The job took a few days, but they did a great job of leaving things as tidy and out-of-our-way as possible each evening. When the job was complete, they did a thorough cleaning up of our property, even picking small pieces of debris out of my rose bushes, etc. Before leaving, they checked to be sure everything was to our satisfaction and went over their warranty information with me again. I was impressed with Lewis roofing from start to finish. I would choose them again and will definitely recommend them to anyone in need of roofing services!

On 7/2/19 Lewis Roofing charged the entire repair estimate of $2,856.00 for a roof repair. They have been avoiding scheduling the repair.
I had an estimate from Lewis Roofing for a repair of my tile roof on 6/17.

I contacted Justin from Lewis Roofing who said I had to make a partial payment to schedule the repair.

On 7/2/19 Lewis Roofing charged the entire amount. I contacted Justin to schedule the repairs. It was going to be after 7/4. I have not been able to get Justin to schedule the repairs after multiple attempts.

On 7/8 I spoke to the office and they said to call Justin.

On 7/9 I spoke to Justin and he said he will call on 7/10.

On 7/12 I called Justin again. I also called the office and spoke to the receptionist. The receptionist said "you need to call Justin". I let her know I called Justin several times and I am not having any success. The receptionist said, "I cannot make him schedule it. You need to call him." and she hung up the phone. I immediately called back and asked why she hung up on me. She said she cannot make Justin schedule the repair. I asked her I need a refund for the full amount. She said I can call the owner. I called and left a message for the owner.

This is horrible customer service from the start. The company charged me for the full amount when it should have been a partial payment. Secondly, they refuse to schedule the repair and when I asked for a refund after the receptionist was not only rude and hung on me, she refused to process a refund. This business should get an F rating a lose their accreditation.

Desired Outcome

Prompt refund and an apology from Lewis Roofing. I would also appreciate an apology from the incompetent receptionist who hung up on me.

I have tried to reach out to you and I did not get a call back. I have the phone call recorded where you were verbally abusing the receptionist and I do not wish to do business with you after listening to the call. I can't issue a refund until the dispute you filed with your credit card company is done. You will not receive an apology from the receptionist nor *** Roofing. We will make sure you get your money back one way or another.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First of all you must disclose by Florida law that a call is being recorded. You have no such disclosure. Secondly, if you listened to the call you would have heard your receptionist being verbally abusive to me. I asked about the appointment and that I left multiple messages. The receptionist stated and raised her voice and said she cannot make the salesman call me.

I asked for a refund since the payment was made in full and she refused and Hung Up the Phone! If you listened to the "call" you would have heard her nasty and unprofessional tone during the call.

I called back and spoke to her again and asked for a refund. She said the only person who can issue a refund is yourself and I asked for the number. I left you a message and never received a call back from you or anyone from your company.
I can ask AT&T for phone records to prove it.

Yourself, the salesman, receptionist and your company is the most unprofessional bustiness I have ever dealt with. Don't say you tried to call me back and listened to a recording of the call. If you did you would have heard how rude your receptionist was.

I do not wish to do business with you and that is why I put in the dispute on my card since I do not trust your company to issue a refund.

According to the agreement, it was a percentage of the total not the entire amount. That was the first red flag and the second red flag was the non return calls and the third red flag was your unprofessional receptionist.

Lewis roofing and I entered into a contract to reroof my home. Lewis roofing failed the building inspection. Their faulty work has damaged my home.
Lewis roofing and I entered into a contract to reroof my home in May, 2018 for $9000. Lewis roofing applied and received a permit from the City of Port Orange Building Department. The permit was reviewed by the city and issued on 05/06/2018.
On 07/25/2018, Darrell Lewis, of Lewis Roofing contacted me and asked for a 50% deposit to start my roofing project. I delivered a check in the amount of $4500 to Mr. Lewis. Mr. Lewis endorsed said check and deposited it into his Bank account. Lewis roofing started reroofing my home on 08\06\2018. Lewis roofing failed the building inspection and after many attempts could not fix the faulty installation. The building permit expired on 07/07/2019 and Lewis Roofing has left me with serious leaks and major issues to fix. After further inspections it has been determined that Lewis roofing has seriously damaged my home.
Their faulty roofing practices have caused black mold to appear. My Physician has ordered me to move out because of health issues that occur with black mold forming in my home. This is causing me a lot of serious problems , most notably, no where to live. After offering a fair settlement to end this whole affair, Mr. Lewis became very angry and told me to "sue him!" I am left with an expired permit, a damaged home and the $4500 deposit I Paid to Darrell Lewis.

Desired Outcome

Lewis roofing should refund my deposit and pay for the damages they occurred on my home.
