Lexington Club at Vero Reviews (1)

I am looking for an apt. in Vero Beach. A friend lives at Lexington Club at Vero. I asked some questions about this building and the responses I got were disconcerting. I have a dog and I was told that things have changed in this "pet friendly" place. You can't walk your dog in or out of the front door. You also can't bring your dog in the lobby unless you're holding him. When asked what to do if you wanted to take your pet out to your car they were told there are 2 hallways that lead out to the parking lot. Use them. Also, my dog, like many others, doesn't like getting wet. You used to be able to bring your dog out the front door, under the portico. There are a lot of shrubs there. Now you have to try to get them to go outside, if they will. You're not allowed to walk your dogs on the sidewalks. No retractable leashes are allowed. To get from the east hallway to the west hallway you have a choice--pick the dog up and carry him or get on the elevator, go up 1 floor and walk over, then get on the elevator and go back down. Also, the lighting on the side of the building needs work. On the west side you have to walk the dogs across the parking lot to be under some light. On the east side there are only 2 lights that are on all the time. There are 2 lights that are on for about a minute then they go off. This has been reported numerous times. In case of power failure the exit signs cannot be seen.Plus the stairwells are not lit at all. The front gate doesn't close ,plus the doors are always open in some places.. There have been thefts, one of which was the large TV on the second floor where they show movies a couple of times per week. This building is listed as having numerous activities. There used to be wii bowling 5 days a week, but that's gone. There was left, right, and center 2 times per week, but that's gone. There was shuffleboard, but it's gone also. And, according to my friend, the heated pool isn't heated anymore. They're even having trouble finding enough people to play bingo. Sadly, the people that live here are bored. They want the activities back. They used to dress up the dogs for Halloween and people would come to the lobby to share in the fun. They'd also have a "hat social" where people would dress up their hats and walk through the lobby. Nobody wants to do anything-they're so depressed. Now, the office has gone paperless. The only 2 ways you can pay your rent is to either do it on your computer or go to WalMart and pay it with the card at the Money Center. My friend told me that this is a building full of people in their 70's 80's and 90's. Most of them are computer illiterate and they're afraid of how they're going to pay their rent next month. WalMart charges for the card service so it's like adding more to their rent per month. My friend says they need someone in the office that wants to work with them to get this place where it once was.
