Lexington Express Lube Reviews (3)

They were accurate, knowledgeable, friendly, on time and very reasonably pricedVery happy my family decided to go with Parker GasWould recommend this company to anyone looking for a gas service to service them

Review: During the week of July 27, 2014, a family friend was driving our 1989 F-150, which he parked in the Lexington [redacted] parking lot while shopping. Upon exiting the vehicle, he and his son notice radiator fluid pouring out of the engine underneath and on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

He was initially unable to restart the truck, but did get it started and drove it the short distance to the Lexington Express Lube adjacent to the parking lot. We have brought this vehicle to that business on several occasions for routine service.

The car was delivered to Express Lube for a diagnostic review. The receptionist and I spoke by phone and she communicated to me that the radiator was damaged and needed to be replaced, based on the recommendation of the mechanic. She quoted us a price for the radiator and labor and I approved the replacement of the radiator.

On Saturday, August 2, I received a call from Express Lube and spoke to the owner, Robert. He indicated that they replaced the radiator, but that the radiator fluids were now leaking from a different point near the intake connection between the radiator and the engine, and that the problem was much more serious than he originally thought.

My wife and I went to the Express Lube to discuss it with him again. We explained our frustration that they recommended and proceeded with a radiator replacement when they had not even attempted to determine where the leak points were on the engine. We would not have replaced the radiator if the problem was much larger, since this is a 25 year old vehicle with high mileage.

He indicated that they didn’t want to waste the antifreeze ($60+) just to test where the leaks were, but did not explain why they couldn’t have simply used water for this purpose. Instead, they installed a new radiator at a cost of $405.00. The owner would not acknowledge that they could have tested this first, and became quite belligerent, particularly with my wife. After only a few minutes of discussion, he said he “was not going to argue with us.”

I then asked if he could at least give us a break on the labor charge or otherwise adjust the bill, but he was unwilling to do so. He then indicated that he might want to buy the truck if it were for sale, but would not offer what he thought it was worth. This offer was unseemly at least, since it suggested a self interest on his part.

The entire experience was very unsatisfying since there was no effort to see our perspective or to come to an agreement. As a result this business lost a long time customer.Desired Settlement: Adjustment of the Bill to reduce the labor costs for installation of the radiator.

Review: Charged $108.00 for an oil change for 2012 Honda Accord. Honda dealership in Staunton for oil change AND check fluids charge $40(this is where I usually take this car). The inflated charge of $108 is criminal and Lexington Express Lube took advantage of me and I am a victim. Poor business practice and I will be sure to let everyone I know be aware of their shady and dirty business tactics.Desired Settlement: Want partial refund of at least $60.
