*** *** This answer to my complaint is totally unacceptable and "matter of a fact" to a serious defective part that was authorized and installed by LEXUS on my vehicle in Although the part was a possible defective part as originally installed during manufacture, in essence was replaced with a similar oil cooler assembly with RUBBER hoses, the same as the original partLexus did not deem this replacement as a National Recall but defined it in terms of a recommended replacement, in my opinion not to draw attention to a defect. Point 2: Lexus could not tell what the problem was when I had my vehicle towed into their garage at the end of April was not truthfulI verbally confirmed with my Service Consultant, MrChris Hart, that a diagnostic was run on the vehicle and it appeared that there was most likely a problem with the valves, broken rocker arm and even a possibility that one or several of those pieces had fallen into the oil panHe said that I would have to pay an initial fee of approximately $for the engine to be pulled and it was possible that the entire engine would have to be replaced and that cost could be over $10,I told him about the history of the oil cooler exploding on the vehicle previously and he agreed if there was no oil in the crankcase that there could have been damage to the engineNext he suggested that I call and email Lexus of North America and it may be quite possible that they would cover the problem on warranty.Point 3: The part that was installed by Lexus in was in fact replaced by the mechanic of my choice "Master Automotive " in Poway California on 5/29/Be advised that the defective part installed by Lexus almost caused a serious accident and possible injuries to my family while my wife was driving the car at highway speedsThe hoses on the part allowed all off the engine oil to suddenly escape entirely while the vehicle was being drivenThe events of this incident are detailed and should the Revdex.com need more information here I will be happy to provide itThe owner of the establishment is also a Lexus Owner of the same vehicle in questionBe advised that my vehicle was towed into the shop for that repairThe owner replaced the defective part with a Lexus authorized part ordered through LexusHe also checked to see if there were any recalls on the defective part and there were noneWhen the repairs were completed he showed me the defective part and noted that Lexus that re-designed the part and replaced the original rubber hoses on the oil cooler with metal replacementsIt was his opinion that was a strengthening possibly because of failure of the metal hoses in the pastWhat both he and I were confused about was that Lexus never issued a recall nor advised those affected by the directive of the changeIf such a dramatic change was made to the part, why was that not conveyed to the vehicle ownersI was told when I left the shop that it was very possible that the vehicle sustained engine damage due to the loss of engine lubricant and compression. Point 3A: The owner had the defective part replaced by his own outside mechanic is totally irrelevantUnless I misread my purchase contract with Lexus, I do not recall anywhere reading that I must have the vehicle repaired by LexusI have had the vehicle serviced every miles since taking ownership of the new vehicle in Many times it was was services by Lexus, a few by Toyota of Escondido and a few by my mechanic of choice. Point 4: Lexus declined warranty assistance is true and I had the vehicle once again towed to a reputable nearby repair facility that diagnosed the problem as total replacement of the engine at a cost to me of $In terms of warranty it is ironic that I received a notice from Lexus in late that the defective oil cooler previously mentioned was again in the headlinesI attached that notice for your reviewNote that Lexus was once again issuing an extended warranty for the part and offering customers reimbursement for any repair cost they may have incurred related to the partOnce again I question why this directive was issued more than a year and a half after Lexus completely redesigned the part. In conclusion, I have had minor issues with the engine but unable to pinpoint the problem up to the total breakdown of the engine until There have been occasional knocks, check engine lights all to disappear when diagnosis was applied via computerMy opinion, and the opinion of two experienced and qualified mechanics from different shops convince me beyond reasonable doubt that the eventual engine replacement was the 100% fault of Lexus and it appears from the history of the defective part that they have kept a blindfold on the consumer regarding the dangers that were associated with the pare. I see unconditional reimbursement for my costs Warranty or no warranty it would be interesting if Lexus could please disclosed to me just what percentages of engine replacements they have made with engines of 90,miles or less that were perfectly maintained and serviced at a mile interval? I find ***'s response, whoever he may be, as totally unacceptable and with little thought or compassion towards the customerRight is might and *** should be reassured that this matter is not closed by any means.*** and *** ***

Unsatisfactory I’m a first time Lexus owner so this is big disappointment I took our RX 450h in to Lexus Escondido for the 10K mile service The only problem we wanted them to fix was the driver-side sun visor It is hanging down about 1/of an inch and it shakes every time we go over the slightest bumpy road Chris at Lexus Escondido said that the Tech tightened it and if we have anymore problems to let him know We didn’t even get out of the parking lot and I saw it was still the same
Very unsatisfactory Right away we got him to look at it again and he said that it was not right and took a video of the play in the visor for Lexus to review He said that he would get it ordered and call me when it came in weeks went by without a call I called him, got his voicemail, left a message I never got a call from him
Extremely unsatisfactory After a week, called him again and he apologized and said that he would look into it and call me back that day, which was a F

In response to your inquiry on the *** *** concerns, ID#***
Our management staff here at Lexus Escondido met with *** *** on Tuesday, June 4th
During the discussion, regarding her concerns it became apparent various repairs have been made on her vehicle at multiple repair centersThis made it difficult to ascertain a specific cause for her concernsWith that in mind we came to an agreement, both Lexus Escondido and Loris Shaffer, to send her a refund
Secondly and in conclusion *** *** has found a repair facility in Temecula, CA, closer to her home, and more convenientShe has complete trust and faith in their capabilities and will be going there for all her future maintenance and repair needs
At the end of the meeting on June 4th, all parties were satisfied with this agreement

[I really don't feel that the explanation addressed my problem, it is a known problem and it is a defect as far as I'm concernedMy daughter's car (a Kia) has had no issues and my son's car (a Suburu) never had issues. This is a Lexus defect. I have a lemon.]

Hello [redacted],Thank you for your feedback. It is true that this last year and a half we have seen a huge increase in numbers of vehicles damaged by rodents. There are several factors that have contributed to this including weather patterns which affect the population of these rodents. We are seeing...

vehicles from all over the county that have been affected.Although there is no official guidance from Lexus regarding warranty coverage for rodents you could pursue the matter with them at your convenience in whatever manner you prefer. I would be happy to insert myself into the process to help you but the actual owner of the vehicle has priority at this level.Thank you,[redacted]

Thank you for the information, we appreciate the feedback.Upon inspection of the 2007 Lexus RX on 4/27/2015 the check engine light and engine noise were verified at no charge, but the cause was unknown without a disassembly of the affected components. Our guest...

informed our service consultant that the "defective part" was replaced about two years ago by his own outside mechanic.Lexus Escondido had originally replaced the part back in 2010 with no known issues since that time according to our records. Lexus Corporate apparently declined warranty assistance due to the expiration of the power train warranty on 3/14/2013.Please feel free to contact me for any further information.Thank you,[redacted]

HiAs I mentioned previously your desired course of action would require direct contact with the manufacturer to file a case for consideration. The number to call is 1.800.25.LEXUS. And open a case.

Thank you for your feedback. I would suggest revisiting the "defective part" issue with Lexus Corporate again and request reimbursement directly. It would be helpful to include the notice you received from Lexus in 2014 and the directive issued by Lexus regarding same. Perhaps Lexus Corporate would reconsider with this further documentation if they did not see it the last time you spoke. We can also provide any and all records as neccessary.Thank you,[redacted]GSM

This answer to my complaint is totally unacceptable and "matter of a fact" to a serious defective part that was authorized and installed by LEXUS  on my vehicle in 2010. Although the part was a possible defective part as originally installed during manufacture, in essence was replaced with a similar oil cooler assembly with RUBBER hoses, the same as the original part. Lexus did not deem this replacement as a National Recall but defined it in terms of a recommended replacement, in my opinion not to draw attention to a defect.
Point 2: Lexus could not tell what the problem was when I had my vehicle towed into their garage at the end of April 2015 was not truthful. I verbally confirmed with my Service Consultant, Mr. Chris Hart, that a diagnostic was run on the vehicle and it appeared that there was most likely a problem with the valves, broken rocker arm and even a possibility that one or several of those pieces had fallen into the oil pan. He said that I would have to pay an initial fee of approximately $2500 for the engine to be pulled and it was possible that the entire engine would have to be replaced and that cost could be over $10,000. I told him about the history of the oil cooler exploding on the vehicle previously and he agreed if there was no oil in the crankcase that there could have been damage to the engine. Next he suggested that I call and email Lexus of North America and it may be quite possible that they would cover the problem on warranty.
Point 3: The part that was installed by Lexus in 2010 was in fact replaced by the mechanic of my choice "Master Automotive " in Poway California on 5/29/13. Be advised that the defective part installed by Lexus almost caused a serious accident and possible injuries to my family while my wife was driving the car at highway speeds. The hoses on the part allowed all off the engine oil to suddenly escape entirely while the vehicle was being driven. The events of this incident are detailed and should the Revdex.com need more information here I will be happy to provide it. The owner of the establishment is also a Lexus Owner of the same vehicle in question. Be advised that my vehicle was towed into the shop for that repair. The owner replaced the defective part with a Lexus authorized part ordered through Lexus. He also checked to see if there were any recalls on the defective part and there were none. When the repairs were completed he showed me the defective part and noted that Lexus that re-designed the part and replaced the original rubber hoses on the oil cooler with metal replacements. It was his opinion that was a strengthening possibly because of failure of the metal hoses in the past. What both he and I were confused about was that Lexus never issued a recall nor advised those affected by the 2010 directive of the change. If such a dramatic change was made to the part, why was that not conveyed to the vehicle owners. I was told when I left the shop that it was very possible that the vehicle sustained engine damage due to the loss of engine lubricant and compression.
Point 3A: The owner had the defective part replaced by his own outside mechanic is totally irrelevant. Unless I misread my purchase contract with Lexus, I do not recall anywhere reading that I must have the vehicle repaired by Lexus. I have had the vehicle serviced every 5000 miles since taking ownership of the new vehicle in 2007. Many times it was was services by Lexus, a few by Toyota of Escondido and a few by my mechanic of choice.
Point 4: Lexus declined warranty assistance is true and I had the vehicle once again towed to a reputable nearby repair facility that diagnosed the problem as total replacement of the engine at a cost to me of $5835.95. In terms of warranty it is ironic that I received a notice from Lexus in late 2014 that the defective oil cooler previously mentioned was again in the headlines. I attached that notice for your review. Note that Lexus was once again issuing an extended warranty for the part and offering customers reimbursement for any repair cost they may have incurred related to the part. Once again I question why this directive was issued more than a year and a half after Lexus completely redesigned the part.
In conclusion, I have had minor issues with the engine but unable to pinpoint the problem up to the total breakdown of the engine until 2015. There have been occasional knocks, check engine lights all to disappear when diagnosis was applied via computer. My opinion, and the opinion of two experienced and qualified mechanics from different shops convince me beyond reasonable doubt that the eventual engine replacement was the 100% fault of Lexus and it appears from the history of the defective part that they have kept a blindfold on the consumer regarding the dangers that were associated with the pare.
I see unconditional reimbursement for my costs.  Warranty or no warranty it would be interesting if Lexus could please disclosed to me just what percentages of engine replacements they have made with engines of 90,000 miles or less that were perfectly maintained and serviced at a 5000 mile interval? took my 04 es330 to Escondido Lexus on 11/04/16 for a 140k service. I was called later the same day and was told that the total price would be appx. $8000. I said no way as that exceeded the value of my car. I told them to just change the oil, battery and place new rear brakes on it. The next day I returned their loaner and was presented with a bill for $850.15, I should have questioned it then. As I look at the bill and car I see questionable items; hold down on the battery missing and the floor mat was not secured as noted on the invoice: But the main thing is that my car never leaked oil before as can be seen by my clean garage floor(the only spots are from when I picked the car up) & the main thing is I am used to getting 24 mpg(my wife only gets 16-17), which is what I am now getting, but she has a new plug-in now, that gets 90+ mpg. I took the car to another shop and asked about the lower control arms that Lexus said needed replacing, they said that the arms where alright.
I will say that the es330 is a great car but the service expense is a little steep.
