Dear Revdex.com: This communication regards complaint number I talked to ***, your receptionist, this morning and he said the Revdex.com could reopen the complainr to accept my responseMy lawyer was on vacation, and since *** *** has made threats to pursue a "class
action lawsuit", I needed to wait until my lawyer returned from vacationHe has now returned and given me the go-ahead to respond, and so here is my response: On afternoon when *** ***'s daughter purchased the car, we noticed that his daughter was clearly unable to use the clutch properly as she was leaving the parking lotShe was revving the engine very high as she let out the clutch, virtually smoking the brand new clutch that we had installedBoth my son Austin and I heard her doing this, and we stepped outside the garage to do "double-takes" on her inability to operate a clutch properlyI was concerned, but she was on her way out, and it was now her car, purchased "as is", with *** *** and her having declined any warranty on it. It was approximately hours after the sale when I received a call from his daughterShe said that she had seen the oil light come on and the engine had stoppedI asked her how long she had driven after she saw the oil light come on, and she said she had gone "one-half mile" before the engine finally stopped on its own and she pulled overI had warned both her and her father to be careful to maintain the fluids on the car because it's easier to repair a leak than it is to repair an entire destroyed engineI tell that to nearly all of my customersFrom her description of the incident it sounded like it could be an entire destroyed engine had resulted from her driving the car 1/mile with the oil light onEven if I had sold her a warranty, warranties will not cover for customer abuseThey require that if the oil light goes on the driver must stop immediately before catastrophic damage occurs*** *** chose to go one 1/mile, which is easily a long enough distance to destroy an engine, thus a warranty would have been invalid anyway *** *** then contacted me and demanded that I purchase the car back at full price without even allowing me to see itOr he demanded that I pay him more than he had paid for the car ($4500) to replace the engine with one with a 3-year warrantyHe called me "dishonest" and said that he had seen another review from a customer who had purchased a Dodge Dakota from me that had had fuel injectors go bad on it by the time the truck made it to OgdenI can't really explain how fuel injectors can go bad in that short of distance (nor were we allowed to examine the truck in that case)I do know that the truck ran properly when we gave it to the customer or I don't think they would have purchased itIt also passed state inspection and emissionsSo how can I know whens something is going to break on a car? Does *** *** think that I am God or something? Anyway, *** *** determined that I was a "liar" because I had warned him about watching the fluid levels (which I do for almost all customers) and because these fuel injectors had gone bad on the DakotaHe said, judgmentally, "I know your type." Well, we've been in business for some years, and we've only received a handful of bad reviewsThose are from customers who somehow expect that the car we sell them should be problem free for who knows how longWe did have a number of very good reviews, which *** *** claimed we had written by "our own employees;" (they are NOT). *** *** has done all he can to to strong-arm me into taking the car back without even the opportunity to see and know what happened to itGiven *** ***'s obvious inexperience with driving clutches (*** *** claimed she had years of "experience" driving clutches, which certainly was not evident from our watching her on our lot as she drove away), and given his refusal to allow us to see the car (because he claims we're "dishonest" and would "blame it on his daughter"), and given his claims that he is "honest" (my experience has been that when people claim they're "honest" they are not, I could not begin to come to any kind of agreement with *** ***If *** ***'s daughter is truly innocent of not having done any damage to the car, then *** *** should not have had any difficulty with us being able to see the carWe really wonder whether she may have accidentally hit an object, knocking a hole in the oil pan, or whether she even knew to shift it to a higher gear before attaining high speeds (possibly over-revving the engine when she poppec the clutch), or accidentally shifted it to a lower gear when running at a higher speed (also over-revving the engine when she popped the clutch). Given *** ***'s bullying tactics, his refusal to allow us to examine the car, and his defamation of Liberty Auto through his Google and KSL and other reviews, we find that working with him is virtually impossible We believe it would be best for the Revdex.com to simply ignore *** ***'s complaintPlease let me know if you need any other informationWe do have *** ***'s daughter on a recorded telephone conversation admitting to her having driven the car 1/mile with the oil light on until the engine stopped on its own*** *** in a later text claimed (in a text message we can document) that she drove it "only seconds" and "pulled over as soon as it was safe," implying that the engine had not stopped on its own. We think that this is another proof of *** ***'s dishonesty and lack of integrityHe is willing to blame all of this on Liberty Auto so his daughter does not have to suffer the consequences of either her own negligence (or inexperience) or possibly of a legitimate failure of an engine that she should have stopped running before she did possibly irrepairable damage to the engine Thank you very muchDavid AHansen Owner, Liberty Auto LLC
