Review: [redacted] Power Corporation contacted me by phone initially for me to become their customer. Their salesman assured me that I would always be billed at a cheaper rate than [redacted] who was providing me with my electric. So, I signed a contract to that effect. However, my contract ran out at the end of 2012 and instead of calling me, their supervisor simply stated that they sent me a notice in the mail every six months stating that my contract had run out. I did not receive an email or a phone call. Once my contract ran out they began to charge me a variable rate, of their own discretion. This variable rate is not regulated. For instance, [redacted] is at a quarterly rate of 8cents and they billed me one month at 16cents and another month at 26cents. Every month it is different. If it was a penny or two I could understand, but this is beyond that. I have seen my monthly electric bill go from less than $100.00 a month to over $400.00 for last month. I cancelled with them today and have gone back to [redacted]. They also told me it would take a month or two to do the change and I would still be billed by [redacted] Power. But, I called [redacted] and explained the situation to them, and they said they could do the switch on the [redacted], so I agreed. I feel I should have been entitled to initially a courtesy phone call after I did not respond to their first letter stating that my contract was expiring, or an email. Letters get lost, what an easy way to get a substantial profit at the customer's expense. I sincerely feel that I am owed a refund. In today's age of communication advancements, how simple would it be for [redacted] Power Corp to set up a tickle file that would either email or have a computer phone call made, advising the customer that their contracts are up for renewal, instead of only mailing out a notice.Desired Settlement: I would like a $750.00 refund

At this time, I have not been contacted by [redacted] Power Corporation regarding complaint ID [redacted]. I am not surprised by this. Since my complaint submission, I have heard it announced on the radio that these type of energy related broker companies are doing this on a very large scale because they are not regulated by the gov't. Whereas the actual power companies are. I don't know if PA will get involved to regulate them but somebody should. It should be done at a federal level.
