After our roof installation we were called to return for a leak at the skylightAfter a couple attempts identifying the leak, we determined the it was coming from the siding on the 2nd floor gable wallWe removed, flashed and reinstalled the siding at no costThis was not part
of the job but we did this to satisfy the customerThe awning is braced through the roof and roof decking and is not installed correctlyI have explained this several times with no understanding from the customer. My last attempt to mediate this issue was to charge for the removal , flash, and reinstallation of the awningAlso, remove the rear roof an install new shingles at no costThe guarantee will be void if other contractors or persons perform any repairs or alterations to this roof while same is under our guaranteeThis is written in our guarantee which the customer has been providedMy offer stated above is still on the table. Thank You,Jim

February 11, 2014Dear [redacted]:
We are in receipt of your email dated February 3, 2015 regarding the above mentioned complaint. Please accept this letter as our response to said complaint.
Liberty Roofing was contacted by the Consumer in October of 2014 regarding repairs...

needed to his property. Upon inspection, we advised the Consumer that the residence was in need of multiple repairs and/or complete replacement of items on the exterior of the residence, including but not limited to, siding, roofing system , skylight and gutters. The Consumer advised us that he had a limited budget of $1000.00 with which to start the repairs that were needed to his residence. The Consumer advised us that he would like to start with the repair of the front porch and metal flashing on the front of the residence.Liberty Roofing furnished and installed a new roof to the front porch. We also repaired the skylight on the main roof of the residence, repaired the aluminum flashing and siding on the front of the residence. The charge for all of the work aforementioned was $1000.00.
During the course of the work at the residence, we informed the Consumer that the front bay of the residence, extending from the first floor roof (which we had installed) to the top second floor roof was taking on water and that new siding was necessary to stop the water from leaking into the front porch area. We specifically advised the Consumer that during a hard, driving rain, the Consumer would still experience water in the front porch area, that had nothing to do with the new roof that was installed.
We have responded to the Consumers phone calls each time with a visit to the residence. We have advised the Consumer repeatedly that the water coming in on the front porch area is coming from the front bay, not from the newly installed roofing system on the porch. We have advised the Consumer that until the necessary siding is installed as advised during our initial visit, water will still leak on the front porch.Liberty Roofing takes pride in its workmanship and quality. We guarantee all of our work and are not satisfied until the Consumer is satisfied. However, we have tried to appease the Consumer on several occasions and explain to him the situation that is occurring. The water leakage that the Consumer is complaining about can only be rectified with the installation of new siding on the front bay of the residence.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at ###-###-####.
Sincerely,
James CPresident

I am rejecting this response because:The awning was there prior to them installing the roof.  We had no leaks in that area prior to them installing the roof.  If the awning in their opinion was a problem then they should have addressed it before they installed the roof and took that into consideration not after the fact.  The awning does not appear to be the issue at this point.  It is leaking on the slope of the roof which has nothing to do with the awning.  This company has not been able to fix the problem to date so I am not giving them anymore money to attempt to fix it only to find out in the end that I still have a leak.  I am getting other roofers estimates and opinions and they believe the leak is from the skylight from which this company installed.  Liberty charged us an additional $1,500 to fix the skylight problem but yet it still leaks.  It has ruined my interior ceiling in the kitchen.  I have given Liberty more than enough opportunities to resolve the issue.  I don't believe they have the knowledge or expertise to fix the issue at this point.  I absolutely believe that the roof and skylight have been installed improperly and therefore I should not have to pay anything to Liberty to have it fixed.

Gutter was reattached at no charge. We had a difficult time getting there during and after the [redacted] Convention. The gutter was fixed if there was confusion scheduling, i...

apologize. The gutter detached a year after installation. This could have occurred for multiple reasons outside of an installation issue. We will not be refunding any money.

The customer contracted Liberty to remove and replace her front porch roof. When the roof was removed there was evidence of structural wood damage. The structural wood damage was and is the cause of the roof ponding water. She was made aware of the damage immediately. She was also told that there...

would be additional cost for the structural wood replacement. The customer was then given a price to repair. She declined to have the additional wood replaced. She explained, that the property is a rental property. She, continued to explain, that the money would be wasted because she is selling it to the person renting it now so she had us continue. We told her we would try to build up the low area although it is not the correct way or a guaranteed remedy. When the project was complete we were paid in full and issue a warranty. Liberty was notified by the customer of ponding water and returned to inspect. We informed the customer again of her decision to not rebuild the porch 100% to achieve the proper slope. Vince and the customer agreed to install a drain where the ponding occurs. Vince, with the customer standing on the porch, marked the porch ceiling where the drain would be installed and the downspout would be run. Vince not only did this for the customer but to indicate the drain location for the installers. This was done at the customers request and at no cost to the customer. The customer chose not to rebuild the porch 100% which is the cause of the ponding water. They came to an agreement of the additional drain (which was done as a courtesy) and now do not like the appearance. At this point the roof does not leak, we can remove the drain and have some ponding water or rebuild the porch as needed. Either way Liberty would need to charge for further service.    Thank You

The owner has never forwarded paperwork detailing the scope of work or guarantee of any work completed by Liberty Roofing at the property addressed. The only paperwork Liberty Roofing has received is a cancelled check and paperwork from another company. The...

check was dated 1/15/2008 which is almost 6 years ago and contractors paperwork which the  date 11/4/2014 and address are written in by the owner. The paperwork has no phone number, Phila. license number or Pa. contractors license number which is required by the Pa. Attorney Generals Office. Liberty Roofing will gladly remedy  issues with our contracted work.  The only way we can proceed is if the owner will forward a Liberty Roofing Guarantee and the scope of work completed.  Liberty Roofing does service the area that the property is located. We advised the owner that we can not inspect his roof or fix his roof without a guarantee and scope of work. The owner states the roof still leaks but does not state when the leak started or is repaired. The paperwork from the unlicensed contractor states the roof was coated a few years ago with no indication from the owner of who was contracted to complete the coating. If the owner will produce a Liberty Roofing Guarantee and scope of work we will assist.Thank You,Jim C[redacted]Liberty Roofing
