Liberty Tax Service

I went to the Liberty Tax Service located at *** Cincinnati, OH 45231 to file my taxes and see if I could get the Easy Refund they were offering up to $2,500. I was denied the RAL. I was told by the manager that I would have to wait until the end of February to receive my full refund. I know that here in the state that most people will receive their state refund before they receive their federal. I check the refund status line to see when I would receive my state refund. After waiting the allotted time need to bring the issue forward about the refund, I called the state tax department to see exactly where my refund went because it was not on my card as I anticipated. After getting off the phone with them I called LibertyTax where I filed and asked where my money was. The manager tells me that if I didn't pay my preparation fee upfront they keep whatever money comes 1st and it's applied towards the fees. I told her that was not explained to me or told to me when I came in and filed. She tells me that has always been that way. In the past, they didn't take it but now they do. I explained to her how that was very unfair and that should have been explained to me so I would have had the choice to walk away. I am very upset because I feel like they stole my state refund. From this point, I will NEVER EVER use another tax preparation service EVER again, I only did it to see if I qualified for the Easy Refund loan and they still never told me if I did or not. I got an email informing me that I was denied. Their prices are too exuberant for a simple tax return with credits. They are taking advantage of poor folks who could use a portion of their refund and make you feel ripped and pissed. It will be a lesson learned, but I encourage anyone who uses these tax preparation services to go to a CPA instead or if you got a return with simple credits if you have internet service go through the IRS and use the free service. They will deposit to prepaid cards too so use them instead of Liberty.
