Life Champ Martial Arts Reviews (1)

Review: This involves three companies that I suspect are all under the same ownership. The initial complaint starts with [redacted], which changed names to Life Champ Martial Arts, I never received any notice that they changed ownership and their financial business [redacted].

In June of 2012 I signed my 13 year old son up for Tae Kwon Do lessons with [redacted] College for a Black Belt Training Package that would take a full time student three years to complete. At this time my son was out of school for summer vacation and had no prior obligations that would prevent him from attending classes. In September he started High School and became interested in Marching Band and did in fact join the High School Marching Band. From this point on there were several times a week that my son had to skip Tae Kwon Do because of band practice. After time it became to much for him to juggle between his Band Practice after school and his homework, when he did attend Tae Kwon Do he was so far behind that it took hims several classes to catch back up. As a result of the classes he missed all of the students who signed up the same time he did were now several belts ahead of him, my son will never be able to complete his training with the time left on the contract. The following summer (2013) things changed considerably for him as he now had to attend band camp everyday for several weeks with practice during the week running until early evening. When school started his practice schedule for band was and is still everyday until approximately 5:00pm, Friday evenings he plays at football games and on weekends he is in competitions and is required to travel for many of them.

I approached Master (Mr) L** of the Tae Kwon Do sometime in May 2014 and explained to him the scheduling problem. After several conversations with him and sending in a written request as instructed by him to have my contract canceled. At first I heard nothing from anyone for several weeks at which point I contact Mr L** again and inquired as to the status, he told me he was working on it and asked me if any of my other kids would like to use the spot , I said no. I ran into Mr L** at the local middle school one afternoon, he inquired if my contract was canceled and I told him I have not heard anything, he once again said he would make a call and find out and promised to get back with me, he never did. Earlier this week I was hit with a letter recently telling me that I was behind on my payments to the amount of some $900+. I contacted the finance company [redacted] and they informed me that my request to cancel my contract was declined back in June because my reason was not good enough. I told them I never received notice that it was denied and I explained to them once again that my sons school schedule conflicted with the class times that the Tae Kwon Do school kept changing. The woman at [redacted] said that it does not matter because the fact that my sons school activities prevent him from attending Tae Kwon Do is not a good enough reason to cancel the contract. I called Mr L** shortly after my talk with [redacted] and once again said he would take care of it.

In addition to the above I have never received any invoices from anyone until this week when I received the nasty letter saying I owed $900+ for over due fees. [redacted] stopped taking fees from my bank account on their own I had auto draft set up with them for the payments, I had no idea that they had stopped taking money from my account until three months ago when I last spoke with Mr L** and he said he would take care of the contract and have it canceled. I took the fact that [redacted] did not take any funds from my bank account at that time as a indication that my contract was finally canceled, yet it was not.Desired Settlement: Since my son has not attended any of the training classes for about a year because of his school obligations and I had been paying on a regular basis up until some three months ago and I was told repeatedly by Mr L** that he would cancel my contract. I would like to have the contract canceled and a letter stating that my reason for cancellation has been accepted and that I do not not owe any more money including the $900+ they are claiming as past due.
