My dad chose this option when he entered hospice. All I did was fax the info and call LifeQuest when he died. About 90 min. later (around midnight) some nice men in suits from a local funeral home wheeled their gurney to his door and gently placed him into their body bag. Two months later we received in the mail an urn with the ashes. It matters not whether those ashes were in fact his. What matters is that his final affairs were for us seamless and absolutely free. This is a great option for those who have time to prepare for it.

Review: I have a desire to donate my body to science. I researched places on the internet and contacted LifeQuest Anatomical in [redacted] via computer. Paperwork was sent to me, I filled it out and sent it back. They confirmed delivery of the paperwork via a postcard. Starting several months ago, I tried calling the company. I have done this on 4 separate occasions. I have some questions regarding funeral arrangements. For basic information the telephone prompt says to press #2. I have left messages, yet no one ever calls me back. I recently called them and pressed #1 which is the line you press if someone has died or is about to die. I got a recording that said to leave a message if it's an emergency and someone will get back to you. (Really??) I left a lenghty message asking them to call me because I was concerned that perhaps they were no longer in business. I have yet to receive a call back. What if there trully is a death?? I would like for a human being to actually be there when a family member makes that call. I would like to get my affairs in order so my family does not have to deal with those difficult tasks when I pass. I am afraid this company does not exist. I have sent them the required paperwork with my personal information including my social security number and my complete medical history. I am afraid of what they may do with that information if they are not legitimate. Please advise as to what I should do about this. Thank you in advance for your help.Desired Settlement: I would like you to tell me if this company is legitimate. I no longer desire to work with them and would like all paperwork this company has on me destroyed. If they do indeed exist, I would like you to warn others about them as they are obviously not caring people, or they would actually have someone there to answer the phone. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

However, I do want you to know that I called LifeQuest back the very day the Doctor called me regarding this issue. On my message machine, she assured me she was giving me her own cell number and that she would be available to take my call at any time. She was not. I left several messages for this doctor during the course of the next week. When I finally did reach her, she asked me to explain to her what the circumstances were of my call as she was not sure why I was calling. I would have thought after so many phone calls from me, she would recognize my name and why I was calling. I explained to her I thought she ran a poor business and that if I was dead, and my children had to make this call to donate my body, that would have been horrible for them. I said to her, "If you can't treat me right while I'm alive, then I certainly don't feel confident that you would treat me right when I was dead". She agreed with me and did apologize. I would like you to look further into this company and check and see if they should be in business. It may save other families from a lot of grief. In light of the delicate matter of their business, they are not putting the donator and the families first.

I did receive my personal materials back, so for that I am grateful.

Regards,
