According to their profile on my health carrier's portal, they specialize in medication management for psychiatric oral meds, so I called them as we recently moved and I need a new provider in the area. After the woman I spoke to confirmed they did in fact do medication management, I spent more than 15 minutes answering questions in preparation of an appointment. Several days later I received a call back from someone to schedule an appointment. That day of the appointment I took time from work to go to the facility and spent nearly an hour filling out paperwork and waiting to be seen. I'm called in to meet with a woman to answer questions for my file, and when I reveal I'm on a certain common benzodiazepine she informed me they don't prescribe that medication, pointing to a poor-quality printed paper stating this policy taped to a cabinet inside this consultation room.

Prior to that moment, not a single employee I spoke with or interacted with mentioned to me they did not work with benzodiazepines. Nor did it mention this in their profile on my insurance carrier's portal, where it clearly states one of their specialties is "medication management - oral psychiatric medications." The only way to know this provider does not prescribe benzos is to answer a battery of questions to get to the person who makes appointments, wait for that appointment, show up for that appointment, fill out a volume of paperwork that takes nearly an hour to do so, wait to be called, then go into the consultation room where they have a piece of paper taped to a cabinet informing you of their policy of not prescribing benzos.

I wasted my valuable time during the workday for nothing, and now I have to start all over looking for a new provider and waiting for an appointment just because they are not forthright enough to inform patients in advance they don't prescribe certain common meds. Thank goodness I wasn't out of meds. This is a poorly managed business that misleads people and doesn't value their time.
