We leases a town home in Hilliard from Brooklands LC last November This is a brand new complex with about units During the months we have been here, the electric power has been lost numerous times, both as a result of scheduled maintenance as well aa for unexplained reasons
In checking who may be responsible, I found the electric was installed, maintained and billed by Nationwide Energy (NEP) Ironically, the founder and CEO of NEP, *** ***, is also the CEO of the company that owns the apartment complex
What they are doing, in short, is buying electric at a commercial rate and then selling it to residents at a higher rate So, you are not buying your electric from the power company as most think, you are buying it from someone with a cozy relationship with the apartment complex The result is you could be paying as much as 30% more than if you were able to avoid using NEP
This is called "sub-metering" and is currently not regulated in Ohio but is illegal in some other states It is a relationship you should be aware of as the practices are questionable and certainly not in favor of the renter

We leases a town home in Hilliard from Brooklands LC last November. This is a brand new complex with about 500 units. During the 9 months we have been here, the electric power has been lost numerous times, both as a result of scheduled maintenance as well aa for unexplained reasons.

In checking who may be responsible, I found the electric was installed, maintained and billed by Nationwide Energy (NEP). Ironically, the founder and CEO of NEP, [redacted], is also the CEO of the company that owns the apartment complex.
