The morning after a bad hail storm a team arrived on my property. Accessed damage and offered to fix my roof and help me deal with. They had me sign something on tablet which I was told was an agreement to work with the company and not seek services elsewhere while I was working with them. After three weeks no work has been done, pricing has been discussed or plan to fix my roof has begun. The company is waiting for me to give them a copy of my insurance claim before they will talk pricing. I disagree with this and have told the company I am not comfortable with them and I do not wish to move forward and have any work done with them. I was just informed they are going to have a lawyer go after a percentage of my insurance claim. I offered to pay them up to 4 man hours at $50 an hour for their time. They should not be able to charge me a percentage of my claim because that is information shared between my insurance company and me, not anything that should drive their business practice (the reason I didn't want to do business with them in the first place).
Mr. signed a contract with our salesman agreeing that we would do the work for him for insurance proceeds if we meet with his insurance company and get it approved. *** and *** met with the insurance and got his roof and multiple other trades approved. After mr. received the insurance estimate he decided to get bids from other companies while having a signed contract with us. He decided to go with another company ( probably a cheaper company so he could profit from a claim which is illegal). I spoke with a homeowner afterwards to see if it was anything we did wrong. His response was that he didn’t feel comfortable for no specific reason. He actually mentioned that *** and *** are very good at what they do and was impressed. We bill the homeowner for 25% of the insurance claim due to cancellation. Insurance rarely pays for certain things unless a certified contract meets with them. Therefore Mr. is profiting from the claim which is illegal.
