Lifetime Garage Door Company Reviews (12)

Review: In June of 2014, Lifetime Door successfully replaced two garage doors for us and also 1 motor system on one of the doors. That job was done fine and we were happy with the service. However, after a few months, we noticed that the exterior of both doors started to develop large bubbles on the outside material in various spots. Mark came on inspected, took pictures and I also emailed him pictures of the bubbles in better sunlight to show the imperfections better. Mark agreed to check with the manufacturer/supplier of the doors and see if they could merely put new exteriors on each door and replace the old, bubbled up ones. We did not hear from Mark for a few months. Since that time, calls were taken by others instead of Mark. Shortly thereafter, no calls were answered. Only a voicemail. I checked today and see that the shop is closed down with a dumpster in front of the office. Obviously they are out of business at that location. I am in need of the proper door covering replacements as the doors are deteriorating in the condition I mentioned earlier.Desired Settlement: Merely to follow through with the proper replacement exterior garage door replacements to remedy the issue.

Review: 1.The garage door installed is still not operating reliably smoothly. It needs to be repaired or replaced, or our full payment fully refundedin the amount of $1,808 (Checks # [redacted] 3/1/14 $1,000 and #[redacted] 3/25/14 $808).2.As it has been about 6+ months since the installation with the door not operating properly, we would like an extension of the original warranty equal to the number of months from installation until it is operating reliably properly.3. Please reimburse us for materials and labor for the priming of the first door $182.97 (receipts and bills were previously provided) .4.Please refund our deposit for the second garage door in the amount of $1,954. (Check #[redacted]; 3/25/14), as you have not provided a custom design to our specifications.Thank you.Desired Settlement: Settlement requested is as described in complaint description.FYIPhone calls by my husband and me, e-mails, and a registered letterto the contractor have not resolved the above delineated issues.

Review: After enlarging garage to three bays, I ordered a new motorized garage door to match two existing doors having windows. Company delivered door with no windows. Owner called "[redacted]" said Lifetime Garage Door Company delivered wrong door to his company. He promised in writing to replace the wrong door he installed with correct door when it arrived from Lifetime. That was last November. He seemed honest and I paid him in full. Despite many calls to his company starting last February or early March, he initially promised to install correct door, but has never done so. Now he doesn't even return my calls. I warned "[redacted]" by email two weeks ago that if he didn't install the correct door, I would complain to the Revdex.com, Angie's List and the Chamber of Commerce. He never replied and we sill don't have the garage door he promised in writing to deliver.

Honor his written contract without my having to take legal action. His "100% "Satisfaction Guaranteed" would also appear to be false advertising!

Review: Company failed to satisfactorily install garage door according to specifications, and has not upheld promise to fix.

It should first be noted that Lifetime Garage Door (whose address should be noted as [redacted] not [redacted] in Stamford), having collected 50% of the invoice amount immediately upon acceptance of the contract, only came for the installation well after the 1-2 week time frame for ordering the door, and only after repeated phone calls on our end and broken appointments on their end. When the final installation was made, the installer noted that the glass frame that came with delivery was clear instead of frosted according to the correct specification, but that the frame could be easily swapped for the correct one within a few days. The remaining 50% on the invoice was paid by personal check, which was cashed by the company. Meanwhile, we had made repeated phone calls and an email to the company to follow up on the fix, where either no one picked up the phone and there was no answering machine, or no response to email, or someone did pick up the phone and assured us that they would look into the matter, or that someone would be coming out "tomorrow", all resulting in a string of broken appointments and promises. With each repeated phone call on our end (each _very_ polite), our confidence that said company was treating the matter in good faith was further diminished. Our confidence hit zero when today there was again no answer and no answering machine, and when we then called Home Depot, who had installed our original doors, and who explained that the glass pane could not simply be swapped out, that it would involve a whole new panel of the door, at a cost of over $500. Since Lifetime Garage Door had already cashed our checks, we are led to conclude that they have no inclination whatsoever on following up on their promise to install the correct glass pane, and that the owner/manager, [redacted] (our principal phone contact as well), has simply been stringing us along. Desired Settlement: My wife ([redacted]), who today made one last ditch effort to contact [redacted] has gone ahead and made an appointment with Home Depot to fix the matter described above. Although we have zero confidence that Lifetime Garage Door will do so willingly, we seek that they refund us, as part of good faith business practice (and, for them, a good reputation which one would think they'd want to maintain), the amount that will be charged us from Home Depot to get the correct frame installed.

Review: Contracted for two new garage doors, put down $[redacted] as deposit.

Company immediately did not return my calls. Two weeks later, they went out of business.Desired Settlement: I want my deposit returned.

Review: A deposit of $756.15 was issued to Lifetime Garage Door Company for repairs to an automatic garage door (2-6-13) and the remainder when completed - After numerous calls to the company and many promises, still no repairs to the garage door....We have asked for the work to be completed or a return of our deposit.Still waiting.Desired Settlement: Complete the work

Review: Company's website claimed to be an authorized Raynor Garage Door Dealer. In truth Raynor revoked its dealership in November, 2012.

(Supplement to prior complaint) Owner, [redacted] suggested we buy a Raynor Garage Door. We relied on his website and were impressed with its professionalism. Raynor was specifically displayed under "garage doors" together with a Raynor company logo. (See:

http://www.lifetimedoor.com/doors.htm )

This was false because Raynor revoked his dealership in November, 2012 and the company says he cannot purchase products from them.

Desired Settlement: refund the cost we will incur in purchasing the correct door from another company which we are proceeding to do.

Anther garage door company who I am paying to complete the work I already paid Lifetime to perform says our garage door was built by Lifetime from spare parts and Lifetime Garage Door is not an authorized Raynor dealer. I called Raynor and they confirmed that Lifetime is not authorized to buy from them. However, Lifetime advertises itself as a Raynor Dealer.

Review: The company installed 2 brand new garage doors with remote garage openers. The project was completed properly, and the company was paid in full. After a while both remote controls and outdoor remote pinpad opener ceased to work. They returned to repair, they fixed it,and the same day it stopped working again. The owner told me to contact him when the construction of the house was completed, because it was new construction he told us these problems happen, and he would return to correct the remotes and adjust the doors. it has now been almost 3 weeks and 5 to 6 phone calls, with NO response. He has been paid in full and does not want to return to fulfill his contractual obligation.Desired Settlement: Finish the job.Return to adjust garage doors and program remote controls.

extremely unprofessional, unethical....and the work was shabby too! No problem charging me, though...that they've got down perfectly! The discount included "no sales tax"! They lied about the warranty time line. And they left my garage door no better than it was before I spent money for the repair. do no use this company!! terrible!!

this company, lifetime garage doors is terrible.
poor installation for which I unknowingly paid
on both top panels where the motor arm connects to the door panel the arm has pulled the panel section out...this is caused from improper setting of the limits on the garage door motor. The owner has said he would make the repairs and has delayed and stalled for over one year. Do not under any circumstances use this company.

Review: A garage door was ordered in early November 2012. We were told it would be installed before Christmas. We never received the door or a phone call to update us on delivery. We called in January and were told it would be a Feb. delivery. Again no calls from the company when the dates arrived so I called to check on delivery. I was told it would arrive at the shop on Tuesday, Feb. 12th and be installed on Thurs., Feb. 14th. When I followed up on the 13th for a delivery time I was told, "no we said it would be delivered here on Thursday and we'll install it next week." At some point (after more calls to them) the door was finally installed. However it was the wrong door. Because we ordered it standing three feet away from the salesman and we pointed right at the door we wanted we did not check the numbers on the sheet. Replacing the windows has been a nightmare. It is constant calls to the company with constant it's coming on this date or it's coming on that date. Last week alone we were told it would be at our house between 2-3 on Wed., they did not show. We called and were told it would be installed on Fri. or Sat. I went to the office on Sat. and was told it would be done on Mon. Today is Monday and guess what- no word from Lifetime Garage doors again. Apparently the Lifetime is how long it takes for them to complete an order.

Product_Or_Service: garage door

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Replacement

Either immediate replacement of the windows in the garage door or I would like a full refund so I may order the door from another professional company. Please advise as to our options in small claims court. Thank you.

Review: My garage door was broken. When the service man left it was working but soon after he left it did not work again. I called and left a few voicemail stating the issue. No one returned my call at all that night and I could not use the garage. The next morning, I called and left two more voicemails. This time [redacted], the owner did call me back and said he would send his serviceman over again to check the issue. No sooner did the repair man leave the garage door did not work yet again. I called the office once more and once more left a voicemail. The owner, [redacted], called me back and said he would send someone in a little while. No one ever came and no one answered my calls for the rest of the day. The following morning when I called and spoke to the owner, he was extremely rude and told me that the issue must have to do with me. I politely asked why he did not call me back and stated that it only takes a few minutes to call someone back. I also asked why he told me someone would come back in a little while when in fact no one showed up at all and he did not call to let me know. He said he was working and busy and had no answer for me. He hung up the phone on me after yelling. He was extremely rude and I paid for a service that was not repaired completely.Desired Settlement: My garage door is still not working. I paid 168$ for an issues which is not fixed and since the owner hung up on me, I still have a garage door that does not work and must now call another company to finish the job and do it the correct way.
