Complaint: ***
Dear Revdex.com Representative,The overall aspect of the roof as a standing structure and as seen from the road was never the topic of my complaintI never claimed that the roof in its entirety doesn't look goodIf the entire roof didn't look good this would be an entirely different problem, probably for a court setting; however that is not the caseSo the comment that by-passers think the roof looks good has no relevance in the context of this claimBy-passers do not know what I wanted done in terms of a roof or how I wanted certain features done, for which I paid great moneyFurthermore, Mr*** continues to push the narrative that I am an unreasonable person as evidenced by the statement: "I don't think there is anything that will satisfy customer"Actually there is… I was very specific in the demand of this claim and I was very specific regarding the reasons for the demand. Mr*** has never considered, even for a brief period of time, that I (the client) was genuinely unhappy with the way he treated me from the beginning of the process (starting with the first contract) all the way to the end (lack of customer service, gutter dents, ridge cap issues and non-negotiated/non-agre$fee added to contract)I am not, and never have been, a litigious personI have never filed a claim before against any business or contractorHowever, it is also true that I have never been treated this way in my entire life, especially by someone that I was paying money to do a job.I hereby reject the contractor’s response and maintain the $claim for all the reasons previously statedSincerely,*** ***

I don't think there is anything that will satisfy customer.  The roof was done as per contract and I provided pictures of completed roof and customer paid me for work done. I have had numerous people drive by and look at roof and not one has had a negative comment on the roof.  There is nothing more that can be done. Customer can continue to pick job apart, but the roof is complete and looks good.  Have a good day.

Due to the space available on the Revdex.com complaints section I could not provide a completeaccount of the complaint. I had a much longer story originally planned and I had to cut it downsignificantly for lack of space. Furthermore, upon additional consideration I subsequentlyreduced the asking amount from $1,000 to $500. I am asking Revdex.com to update the record andreplace the $1,000 asking amount with $500. As shown in the evidence that I previouslyproduced (snapshots of text messages) I approached the contractor only for a $500 discount, not$1,000.In the following paragraphs I will provide a more complete account of the complaint.1. From the day Mr. [redacted] first showed up for the purpose of a quote I thoroughly discussedwith him that the existing roof had 3 previous layers of shingles that had to be removed. Heassured me it will be done. Although I asked only for an asphalt roof quote he insisted onquoting a metal roof and issued a document with 2 distinct bids: one for an asphalt roof for$6,000 and one for a metal roof for $6,750 (see EXHIBIT 1). Of course a metal roof for$6,750 was a very enticing proposition knowing all the details that I had previously discussedwith Mr. [redacted]. I signed the contract accepting the metal roof bid and paid half of the costupfront ($3,375). About 2 weeks later two workers showed up to put a metal roof layer ontop of the 3 existing layers of asphalt roof. That’s when I learned that only the asphalt roofbid (Bid 1) included removal work of the existing roof, but not the metal roof bid (Bid 2)despite all the discussions I previously had with Mr. [redacted]. I asked if I could get the moneyback or switch to Bid 1 and he said no because he had purchased the material. That same day, upon calling the Butte-Silver Bow Building Code Office I learned that it is against the lawfor any roofing contractor to install a 4th layer of roof over 3 existing roof layers. I wastold that all roofing contractors know that. So his metal roof quote was unlawful to beginwith, but it worked perfect for Mr. [redacted] as it got me to accept the enticing metal roof offer. What followed is Mr. [redacted] added $1,250 to his initial quote to remove the existing 3 layersof roof. The new total of $8,000 (see EXHIBIT 2) was not very enticing anymore but therewas nothing for me to do as I had already fell prey to his scheme. This new offer was $2,000more expensive than the asphalt roof bid that I was originally seeking. For reference, I had obtained two other quotes from local companies for replacing the roofwith an asphalt roof prior to obtaining the quote from Lifetime Roofing. I just checked thequotes from other contractors and they both have the mandatory removal of the old roofincluded in the quote.Unfortunately, I started my research of the Building Code after signingthe first contract with Mr. [redacted].2. Upon starting the work Mr. [redacted] and at least one other worker have repeatedly leaned theladders directly against the gutters despite having the ladder stand-off stabilizers available. As a result the gutters on 2 of the 4 sides of the house are badly dented and deformed(seeEXHIBIT 3). I told him specifically not to do it and he assured me that he will straighten allgutters before finishing the job. He and his crew left without straightening any of the gutters. The damage was done anyways because I do not believe those gutters can be made to look asthey used to.3. Following the signing of the new $8,000 contract and after me questioning Mr. [redacted] whyhe quoted an unlawful bid he completely stopped taking any and all of my phone calls. Hewould only send me short and vague text messages. This made subsequent communicationvery, very hard. Terrible way to do customer service. The only time I could speak (not text)with Mr. [redacted] was when he showed up one day during the removal of the previous roof. That's when I told him about the issue with damaging the gutters and that's when I told himabout how I would want the ridge caps installed. Other things were also discussed thatSaturday morning and I specifically asked Mr. [redacted] to keep me in the loop with the steps inthe process. In retrospect, now I wonder if he ever paid any attention to anything I said as hewas always saying "yes"or nodding "yes" even before me finishing the sentences. Not onlyhe didn't keep me in the loop with work, but he refused to take my calls even when I wantedto follow up and ask questions about next steps.4. As previously indicated the 4 ridge caps on the house do not look the same, as I asked (seepictures in EXHIBIT 4).Of course at this point I do not have any proof of the verbalconversation that occurred; however, any contractor would understand that a client has areasonable expectation that all 4 ridge caps look the same. In addition, the roof side facingwest has a patch (see EXHIBIT 5). They either took wrong measurements or they cut thepanel too short. After that, they patched it with another small piece of metal. Whatever thecase may be, when one pays such an amount of money for a roof job, one expects great work, not patching work. When the contractor makes such mistakes it is not the client's fault andthe client should not be expected to pay for contractor's error.5. Finally, upon receiving the final receipt I observed that Mr. [redacted] added a phony $100 feethat was never negotiated (see Exhibit 6). Once again the fee was added under the threat oflien filling on my property. In the Invoice he claims that the fee was to cover the snow stopsbut there were never any discussions of any fee prior to the installation of the snow stops.Furthermore, his contract clearly states "Any alteration or deviation from specificationinvolving extra costs will be executed only upon written orders and will become extra chargeover and above the estimate"; however, no such written orders were ever conducted and nofee was ever mentioned by Mr. [redacted]. We never had the choice to turn down the extra workbased on the amount requested, because there never was an amount requested until after thefact.Someday in the next decade I may chose to sell the property. When I decide to sell, theprospective buyers will inspect the house from up close not from "the road" or from across thestreet. They will be able to see all the issues that I was able to see. Furthermore it is customarythat they will hire an inspector who will closely inspect every corner of the house. The inspectorwill provide a detailed report with lots of pictures identifying all the issues, as the inspector islegally bound to disclose to his/her client all issues observed. The majority of the issuespresented here will serve as bargaining points for prospective buyers who will seek to lower theasking price, which will ultimately result in me losing money on the sell.I am only interested in receiving the fair compensation for all the issues that I highlighted abovethat will result in a lower asking price when selling the house. My goal is not, and has neverbeen, to discredit Mr. [redacted]’s business, because that doesn’t bring me the financialcompensation that I’m demanding. Furthermore, I’m not trying to extort anyone, as Mr. [redacted]has mentioned in his response. Mr. [redacted] mentioned in repeated instances that he completed thework per the contract. However, I did read the contract multiple times and could not findanything in there to imply that he should “install a ridge cap different from the other three”, orthat he should “install a patched roof” or that he should “ruin the gutters in the process”. There isa reasonable, customary and unwritten expectation that no client would want such service. Not tomention the wicked way in which he tricked me to pursue a more expensive roof option.I have previously interacted with 3 other contractors that did work on my house in Butte(electrical, heating, and radon mitigation) and never had any problems with their work or withany of them personally. I have already presented Revdex.com with evidence (snapshots of textmessages) that I simply asked Mr. [redacted] if he agreed to a $500 discount. I have never tried towithhold payment as he suggests; on contrary, I have mentioned it in repeated times that he willget the asking amount whether he chose to offer a discount or not. I have hard evidence in theform of text messages that he threatened to file lien right on the day he finished the job, wellbefore the time I mentioned anything to him about a discount. It is very unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] refuses to understand that this is a professional claim thatwas filled as a result of a job he performed under contract. This claim has nothing to do withone’s level of friendliness or one’s country of origin, which are topics that Mr. [redacted] broughtinto discussion in his written response. I would expect that Mr. [redacted] knows that this countryhas very harsh laws for discrimination based on the country of origin. I like to believe that themanner in which Mr. [redacted] chose to do this job, and the inadequate customer-service that he hasprovided throughout the entire process, had nothing to do with my country of origin. Ultimatelywho really knows? In conclusion the asking amount ($500) is well commensurate with the evidence presented in thisclaim. The only things that can discredit Mr. [redacted]’s reputation are Mr. [redacted]’s actions, nothingelse. If he chooses to take legal action for any fictional reason he is of course free to do so;however, as shown in this claim the facts are heavily on my side and I am confident that the goodwill prevail.[redacted]Revdex.com REDACTED 6 ATTACHMENTS[redacted]

This claim is just a ruse to discredit the work to try and get money.  I have been roofing in Butte for over 25 years and this customer is the worst one I have experienced.  He signed a contract and I performed exactly as I proposed in contract.  The allegation that a the length of a...

piece of trim ruins the roof is utterly ridiculous.  He did not specifically ask for the trim to be the same length as he alleges in his complaint (please ask ** to provide proof that he specifically asked to have the trim to be the same length). The trim is installed to conceal the end of the metal, this is a common practice on all metal roofs.  Even if the different  length of trim was an issue, his fabricated cost of $1000 for installing trim on one corner is way too high, installing trim on  the one corner he alleges is wrong, it would only cost $100.  This is further proof he is only trying to extort me for money. If his claim for $1000 were relevant, he would have a bid from another contractor for this amount.  Only when we neared completion he began to discredit the job in an attempt to pay less.  The house is over 80 years old and not square or straight compared to that of a new house. The trim was installed to make the roof look as good as possible. He tried to withhold payment and even tried to pay $500 less than he owed me in attempt to pay less and resolve this to his satisfaction.   I had to threaten to file a lien and notify his lien holder if he didn't pay as per the signed contract.  Contacting the Revdex.com is nothing more than  an attempt to get money.  I have asked other roofers and neighbors to look at roof and none even noticed the difference in the length in the trim on one corner of the roof. Looking at the roof you can't tell the difference from one corner to the next. I did not see any pictures with the complaint, so I am sending one of each corner of the roof to prove there is nothing wrong with the roof.  You can also see in the pictures attached in email, the roof looks perfectly normal.   A few neighbors even said the man is very different and not very friendly.  He is from [redacted]and he is a very difficult person to deal with.  Maybe in [redacted] they try not to pay all the money for work done by picking apart the job.  Regardless, his claim is baseless and frivolous.  If he had an actual claim we would be in local court not an attempt of extortion via the Revdex.com.  Any further attempts to discredit my work will be dealt with in court.   Sincerely   Joe L.[redacted]Revdex.com REDACTED 4 ATTACHMENTS[redacted]

Our experience with Lifetime Roofing has been excellent. Logan was friendly and non-pressuring. He took the time to educate me so that I could make the best choices for my circumstances. I found his roofing team to be experienced, respectful, and timely. The finish product was visually pleasing and the best workmanship. I highly recommend them.

Review: Owner of Lifetime roofs over charged me for the work and never completed the job. Made numerous call to this owner of the business to complete the job. He never answered or call me back. Work that was done was did poorly. Siding was put up by excon`s or pre-release workers. [redacted] took this job and request a check for $1,300.00 for material to be bought to reside our garage. Three workers came to do the siding on August 11th of 2014. Siding was not in the color that was requested. Color was to be a beige or tan. Plain grey siding boards were purchased. Was told that they came that way and needed to be painted. Took another three days to do. No corners brackets were place on any corners of the garage. Top frame over the garage door took two day to do. Another week an half went by for siding to be painted. At this time [redacted] request for rest of the money for the work to be completed. Another check for $1,800.00 was needed to buy metal for roof connecting to the frame that meets the siding and trim. The siding boards were not cut even and seams show after the boards were painted. Top frame over the garage was to be painted brown. None of the material that was used cost what was paid out. I believe he used savaged material from other jobs he done or never completed. Worker [redacted] and [redacted] advised us that [redacted] never gives them the materials needed to do the work.Desired Settlement: I want my work to be done and completed. I know he will not finish the work. I don`t understand why he`s still in business. He does really lousy jobs. I`m requesting that he refund me for the work that was not completed. Or pay for another contractor to finish the work. He should be responsible all his action.

Review: Within a few months of having my roof replaced a ten foot section of the shingles on the roof apex blew off. Upon inspection I found the shingles had not been nailed down but had been laid down relying only on the shingle adhesive to hold them together.

I called the roofer and requested him to correct the problem. He said he would fix it the next day. When he didn't show up the next day I called him and requested him to come fix the problem. He again said he would fix it the next day. The contractor has yet to fix the roof and he does not answer my calls.Desired Settlement: I want the apex of the roof repaired, and the shingles to be replaced properly.
