Lifetime RV

I am writing in response to a claim submitted by *** ***. She asserts that she bought a trailer from Donna at Larry's RV and has since hired us to repair some roof issues. After said repairs, she inspected the roof and found there to be an excessive amount of "caulking" on the roof
and is asking us to discount the repairs and replace her roof. There is a fair amount of information that is incorrect in her narrativeFirst of all, she purchased her camper from Larry's RV Sales, LLC. That business went out of business at the end of December in 2014. We purchased the assets of that business at that time and started a new business called Lifetime RV. We have made every attempt to "take care of" the past Larry's RV customers as a courtesy but we are under no legal obligation to do so. We did not sell the trailer to *** ***, Larry's RV did and we are now stuck in the middle. In the past two years, we have been able to go back to Donna and ask her what was said and what she would like to do for her past customers. She has paid for some repairs and we have done some at no chargeUnfortunately she passed away about weeks ago so we now have no way to even address what might have been said at the time of purchase All that I have is a copy of the purchase agreement signed by Ms*** that clearly shows the trailer was purchased "as-is, no warranty". Something to contrary may have been said between the seller and the buyer but we would have no way of knowingIt is not customary for an RV dealer to provide any warranty on a year old product but it is possibleIn regards the actual roof. The RV industry does not use "caulking" they use a product call Dicor which is a sealant that stays in a very thick almost liquid type state. It is a 4-year product depending on how much sun exposure there is. Once that product starts to get firm, it's time to replace it--usually that's when leaks start to show up. This sealant is used around all protrusions in the roof. The process to replace this involves scraping off as much of the old product as possible and applying new product. Since the new stuff stays "flowable", using more is better than less because as the trailer shifts, it self levels into the cracks and crevices which is what you want to have happen. The bad part is the roof can look a little sloppy with all this goo on it. That does not mean the roof is shot and needs to be replaced. Even the manufacturer warranty on the roof only covers the roof membrane itself, not the sealant around the openings. I've been in the business for over years and I have never seen a newer roof membrane fail. Usually the membrane itself is fine, it's just sealant around the openings that is in tough shape and leakingNow I admit I have not seen this roof but I would be very surprised if it actually is a roof failure. In either case, Lifetime RV would not replace the roof as a warranty item as we did not sell the trailer. I don't believe that Donna would have either. On the outstanding bill of $526.59, I would accept $as payment in full if it's paid within days in an effort to try help out.
