Review: My husband passed away 12/1/12. I decided to return my membership to Light House, I notified my children and grandchildren of this and offered them the option to purchase under the Light House Plan for Families. When I told Light House I wanted to cancel my membership I was told that I could but I had to pay $540 for cancellation fees. After all these years and this company has changed hands four or five times each with new rules and regulations, this seems a little much.Desired Settlement: That my membership be cancelled with no fees or subscriptions.

Business' Initial Response

Lighthouse Marina membership contracts are Lifetime contracts. If a member requests to cancel their membership, we do implement a cancellation fee. This is the policy for all member's.

Review: We went to the Lighthouse for dinner. Ordered pizza and ribeye med rare. Steak came out WELL DONE and veges cold. They took it back said they would replace. Pizza came and manager said "cook is tryin a new dough let me know. OK pizza was not cooked dough stretch accross plate and tasted horrible. we said didnt want a new one didnt want anything else. Steak came and it was good med rare and hot veges. I gave my potato to my friend and started to eat my steak and we were discussing what had happened to OURSELVES. A man walked up and put both hands on our table and said he didnt want to hear the stuff we were saying. We were not loud at all! He was sitting behind us listening REALLY! insecure if you ask me.... Told us to leave said I wanted to finish...YOU NEED TO LEAVE! Finished my sip of wine he is still leaning on our table YOU NEED TO LEAVE! so we got up and left with no pizza and a steak not finished. So we left and didnt pay the bill. WE WERE TOLD TO LEAVE at least 3 times. Next evening they come down to our campsite and cause a big scene. 30-40 people standing around SO UNPROFESSIONAL demanding money. I was threatened with my membership that I had committed fraud and membership would be revoked. So we paid for a pizza we didnt get and a steak that was not finished. To me thats robbery! We have since heard many stories about the managers of the place and they are NOT good. The way the managers of the Lighthouse Restaurant and the Lighthouse Park took action on this was so unprofessional. They even were not willing to listen to my story...said "we have heard both sides" Wow really nobody had even talked to me until we were AMBUSHED in OUR CAMPSITE. Now the people that they got stories from would throw anyone under the bus they are employees of the Lighthouse. Sorry to say there are not very many honest people. We just wanted to eat and they didnt care about their customers.

On Friday, August 16th, the above mentioned claimant visited the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar. They ordered as they stated above. The initial steak was returned to the kitchen for being over cooked. The Chef prepared them a new steak and this was taken to their table. The pizza was also sent back but the patron stated they did not want anything in its place. The second steak, as the patron stated, was excellent and they enjoyed the second steak. The owner's of the Restaurant offered the patrons dessert or something in place of the returned items in an attempt to satisfy the patron's. They refused all offers. The patron's did cause a bit of a scene and where asked to either please quiet down or leave the restaurant. When they did not, their check was delivered to the table. After finishing their beverages, they proceeded to leave the restaurant. When the server went to collect the check and clear the table, he realized that the patron's had left without paying any part of their bill. The owner's of the Restaurant came to the Resort to locate me, [redacted], General Manager of the resort, to discuss the previous nights incident. [redacted] is a member of the Private RV Park. As the owner's of the Restaurant were walking to the Club House to talk with me, Ms. [redacted]'s guest noticed them and immediately started yelling at the owner's of the Restaurant. Upon exiting the Club House, I noticed the two men, chest to chest causing a scene. I walked over to the incident and demanded both parties back up and calm down. After hearing the continuous yelling from Ms. [redacted]'s guest and hearing what the situation was. I informed Ms. [redacted] and her guest that they are responsible to pay the check from the previous night and that the owner of the Restaurant is well within his rights to call the police on them. I informed her that they had received services from the Restaurant and were therefore responsible for paying the bill. After a bit more yelling and cussing from Ms. [redacted] and her guest, they reluctantly paid the tab and the owner's of the Restaurant left the park. I stayed at Ms. [redacted]'s campsite and attempted to listen to their side of the story, which was quite a bit different from the version I was told from several witness' that happened to be at the Restaurant during the incident. I did tell Ms. [redacted] and her guest, that they were responsible for paying their bill and although they may not have been happy with the service they received, it should have been dealt with in a different manner other than walking out on a bill. I tried to calm the situation as much as possible but Ms. [redacted] and her guest were less than willing to discuss it in a calm manner. Ms. [redacted]'s guest was yelling at me telling me to leave and Ms. [redacted] was yelling stating she wanted to tell me her side of the story. I did my best to resolve the issue but after seeing that this was not going to happen, I excused myself from the campsite and left the situation. I am the General Manager of the RV park but the Restaurant is owned by [redacted] and [redacted], which do not appear to be listed or contacted on this complaint. They would be able to give their version of the incident.

The story they are telling is not true. The witness at the restaurant work for them of course they are going to tell a different story. I dont know why we had to pay for food we did not eat or get. I paid $42.00 for a steak that was not eaten. 1 beer and 1 glass of wine. I was swearing? I WAS NOT SWEARING. That is a flat out lie. I know how things are run at the Lighthouse. If you are not with the IN CROWD you will not be believed. The people that get special treatment is really not fair. The rules are for who the Lighthouse wants them to be applied. Its really to bad back in the day it was so much fun. I raised my kids there. I have never caused any trouble and I am an honest person. Its really to bad no one believes me. I feel sorry for those people. Several other owners on the Loop have heard the same stories from people that have been treated with no respect from the restaurant managers. My story was a truthful account and people just want to hear what they want to hear. WOW! I guess its ok to ROB people of there money.

Review: I joined in 2005 and had a contract that stated , I can bring guest in at 20 bucks a night , since 2005 the marina has changed hands several times . I also was told at time of paying for my resort that a marina would be put in and since then , no marina has ever been put it . Bait and switch . breach of contract ? I was told that I signed the contract that said they can change the rules at any time . My contract states 20 dollars per guest (site) per night , that is not a rule .Desired Settlement: I would like to resolve this or get my membership payment back if they do not honor my contract. Thanks

Review: Purchased membership for Lighthouse Marina and at that time there were other campsite avail to use. Now those campsites are bankrupt and they still insist that membership fees be paid though they can not provide the services initially promised. We are paying a yearly fee to use one campground.

In addition they contacted me to upgrade my membership multiple times, but when dues were needed to be paid I did not receive any notice. Now they are adding fees. I was told by the manager that billing statements were sent out every month for the last year. Not True. Again they can call me to request more money for membership upgrade but not for yearly dues.

Reviews on-line for this campground are mixed with the restaurant and customers are not given an accurate picture of this place.Desired Settlement: 1. Membership to be cancelled with no fees

2. My Credit report not be effected for not paying camp fees

3. Return of partial money paid to Lighthouse Marina

The Lighthouse Resort is not bankrupt. We have upgraded several areas of the resort, including the pool, RV campsites and the WiFI system to provide improved access to internet for our members. We have added a Dog Park and are in the processes of adding [redacted] service to the newly remodeled rental cabins.We send out statements regularly to our members and require them to pay their contractual obligations. We have added a membership page on our website that provides the member with their account information and contact information to our the Member Services staff if there is an problems that needs to be addressed. The tactic this member is using to absolve themself of their payment responsibility is unfortunate. We make every attempt to provide an opportunity to resolve their account issues, however, these unwarranted allocations does not assist in that process.[redacted]The Lighthouse Resort & Marina
