On 12/5/the customer, Mrs*** contacted us thru *** requesting an appointment for 12/15/to replace the two florescent light fixtures in the utility room We have Flat Rate Pricing for repairs, there are generally to price levels of pricing based upon the
time needed to complete the repair which cannot be determined until the Electrician makes a visual inspection After the Electrician performs a Inspection to determine the extent of the work, he present the repair options utilizing his iPads When a customer asks for a price over the phone, we tell them it will be necessary to have an Electrician come to the home to determine what the price will be because we do not know how long it will take to complete the repair or the extent of the repair We do not want to give them a price that is too High or too Low We do have some customers that insist on getting a price over the phone In those cases, we will contact an Electrician to get the Price range to give to the customer However, in these instances, what we frequently find is that additional work is required to get the repair to meet code requirements, therefore the price increases This is why we feel it is necessary to have the Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician go to the home to give a accurate Estimate.If the customer is only requesting an Estimate, we send our Master Electrician, and schedule a hour window for the appointment, and there is no service fee All work is performed by our Journeyman Electrician, not our Master Electrician If the customer accepts the Estimate the work is then scheduled for the first available Journeyman Electrician.If a customer requests to have the work performed at the time that the Electrician is at the home, then we send our Journeyman Electrician and there is a $Service Fee and in this instance schedule a minimum of hours to drive to the location and complete the work.Mr*** mentioned a $repair This repair includes upgrading the Breaker Box, running new Conduit lines, upgrading receptacles to GFCI plugs where needed, and completing a Whole Home Electrical Check Up This work generally takes or more hours to complete.In this instance Mrs*** did not want to pay the reduced price of $182, plus the $Service Fee to install both fixtures Our Journeyman Electrician was at the home for hour The Journeyman Electrician contacted me when The *** refused to pay the Service Fee I called the Mr*** and discussed the Service Fee and he again refused to pay Mrs*** had been directed to our Web Site to download a Free Service Coupon which clearly states “When Work Is Performed” on the Coupon Mr*** acknowledged that they had read this stipulation on the coupon, but still refused to pay the $Service Fee I have attached the invoice for this call to this reply. I look forward to resolving this matter and will be happy to answer any further questions Feel free to reply back to me or give me a call at ***.Additionally, I want to apologize for not responding to this matter the first time you sent the information Can you please let me know the next step that is needed to resolve the issue

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
However it does not relate to the business not communicating with customers about their charges and about fees to come to the home for cost estimates.  What I was told over the phone is completely different than what happened and what I was told when the serviceman come to my home.  It's sad to know this type of tactics are used by businesses especially when there are many elderly customers who may fall victim to this.  They really need to take a look at their business practices.

I am rejecting this response because:  On 1/16 I received an email from [redacted] with the bill for $79.00.  I immediately responded to her with the same information I provided to you in the message to Revdex.com.  On 1/16 I received a response from [redacted] stating, "  My apologies!  That information had not been presented to me. Not once did they inform me of that information.  The only reason they came down on their original price of 280.00 (which was the lowest) was because I informed them that Amazon (whom I ordered and received the light fixture from) offered me installation for $60.00.  After I informed the installer of that information he left my house went to his truck and called his "boss".  Approximately 10 minutes later he returned saying that his boss was willing to lower the price to 180.00.  I said NO.  As I mentioned prior to this.....what this company is doing is a complete scam.  They do not inform you of all the information prior to coming out to the home.  I wonder how many other people they made pay for this "fee" after informing them of their "unavailable" quote.  [redacted] said that she would not charge me the fee so maybe their own employees should be notified of that fact.
