Ligonier Country Inn

Review: Signed contract Feb 2014 for wedding reception venue after a tour in Dec 2013 of on-site banquet and hotel facilities. Gave $500 deposit at time of signing and another $500 deposit a month later. In April 2014 (now 3.5 months from wedding date), we were advised by the Wedding Coordinator of the Ligonier Country Inn the there was an oversight regarding hotel room booking and that both honeymoon rooms as well as several of the other guest rooms that we reserved during our tour of the facilities were booked 1 year ago, prior to our tour of the property and prior to signing of the contract. After reviewing our options, we requested a withdraw from the contract and full refund on account of the inability of the Ligonier Country Inn to provide the services as advertised during contract signing. The Ligonier Country Inn referred me to a clause in the contract regarding non-refundable deposits. I responded stating that my request for a full refund was only motivated by the shortcomings of the Ligonier Country Inn in fulfilling it's obligations under our contract and failing to provide the services as advertised by the Wedding Coordinator on staff. We sought nothing more than a clean break. Ligonier Country Inn responded stating that they would not relinquish the $1000 deposit despite their oversight.Desired Settlement: Full refund of all deposit money.

In regards to the previously filed complaint, the Ligonier Country Inn wishes to address the requested refund of the customer. While we regret that we were unable to provide satisfactory service as stated by the customer, we are not obligated to refund the requested amount of $1,000,00. The signed contract we have on file for the customer clearly states that all wedding

payments are 'non-refundable.'

After giving a tour of the facility in December, it was never promised that the customer would receive complete access to the entire venue during the booked weekend as otherwise stated by the customer. After holding their requested date for the event for 2 months, we did not block rooms until we received the wedding deposit in late February.

As the Ligonier Country Inn was giving the couple a honeymoon suite free of charge for taking advantage of a special being offered for booking in February, we placed them in one of our other honeymoon suites as the previous 2 suites shown to the couple in December were previously booked. The customer was still receiving a honeymoon suite, but it was not the one previously viewed. They were unhappy as the room was not to their tastes.

In an effort to be accommodating, the Ligonier Country Inn was going to allow' the bride to bring her pet for a small additional fee, even though our honeymoon suites are not pet-friendly.

The customer was also unhappy that other guests had booked rooms near their reception site, before the couple booked their wedding date. As a hotel venue, we cannot stop guests from booking rooms. Both the hotel guests and the bride and groom are always made aware of the events happening at the
