I went to settle a dispute and collect a deposit on my daughter's behalf I drove from *** all the way to *** *** *** to pick up the money that they owed us, since they never found a place for my daughter to live They promised to give the money back if my daughter authorized it which she did Hilly, the woman at the front then refused to give the money back because until we had taken down a bad review from the internet She told me to leave and cursed at me several times, after I drove hours to pick up the money because they refused to mail it I have never had such a bad experience We are looking to take them to court They've kept this money for nearly two months now, these people are unlawful thieves and they need to be shut down immediately before they steal from anybody else

Good Morning. In regards to complaint ID [redacted] filed on behalf of [redacted]. We made every attempt to find her more than one place The 1st apartment was at [redacted]. The property owner declined her application in favor of a stronger candidate. The 2nd apartment was located at...

[redacted] This apartment was refused by [redacted]. She did not like it. The 3rd was [redacted]; refused for the same reason. The 4th was located at [redacted] showed interest in the unit, but hesitated to commit. She requested an air conditioner unit be installed by the property owner. The landlord denied her request to install an A/C unit. This response from the landlord came late in the evening. [redacted] was contacted the very next morning to verify whether or not she would accept the apartment without an A/C unit. She agreed. The landlord, however was not reachable until that evening. He then advised us that he had already filled the space. Although there may have been a delay, [redacted] received a refund of her deposit & signed to confirm a full refund. Upon leaving, she declared no complains or claims against Lime & Brownstone Realty or any of her employees. We really tried to provide our best service in this case. [redacted] was not the most pleasant person to work with and it seems not to matter what is done for her. She is determined to express displeasure. See the attached pdf for verification. Review: I wish to file a complaint about Lime & Brownstone's shady and egregious business practices. Twice they found me an apartment, and twice they lost it after I put a deposit down. The first seemed beyond their control, but the second was just poor advocacy; they operated with nonchalance while telling me how they are working so hard for me. My previous lease ended yesterday, and I am now homeless as a result. Everything I own is in storage, and moving twice, plus these storage units, will cost me easily additional $700 more vs. just moving once. I am spending money on cabs because I have a travel bag with me at all times, and money on food out, because I have no kitchen.

Side note, the original apartment that I lost found its way back to [redacted] with another broker whose name I did not recognize. When I texted and identified myself, I was told it was unavailable. Within the hour, my friend called and was told it was available and they made an appointment to see it. This is discrimination, though I can't prove it as she later told me "no, it was a mistake, it's not available" after my friend had received a text with the same address.

To date, my $500 deposit has not been returned. There is always some story about why they don't have the check. I have been to the office three times, which is quite far from me, and causes me to miss work - I am not paid when I am not there. I don't understand why she can't get a check and have it waiting for me. She promised it for Monday. I went in today (Wednesday) and it was not there. The owner is apparently the only one who can write the check, and he seems to never be available. Today he was at "the doctor." By 3pm, she said she still has not reached him. This seems suspicious to me.

She does not return my calls, ignores most of my texts, doesn't contact me when she says she will, and has just generally given me the runaround. Every time I go to their office, I am not at work, which costs me more money. She continues to tell me how is "trying to help" when in fact she is not helping me at all.

I have asked at least a dozen times if they can just wire transfer the money back to me. They do not want to incur the $25 charge, despite all it this ordeal has cost me. It has been one week, and I still don't have my money returned. I need this money to find another place. It's egregious.Desired Settlement: $500 returned to me via wire transfer, and some form of restitution for my additional expenses - suggest reimbursement of $75 for my credit check that was never used. I requested she send me a copy so I could give to other brokers to save the expense and would not be an additional hit to my credit. She never responded.

As well, I want this available to others who search for this business.
