On 2/25/***, an unneutered male Chihuahua checked in for lodging servicesHe was escorted into a medium suite designated for small dogsHis card was labeled "will bite" upon check in*** needed vaccinations during his stayA veterinary technician approached the suite with a leash and a
managerBoth the manager and technician attempted to leash *** with a regular leash, which resulted in aggression towards the leash and caregiverThe caregivers were able to carry *** in a towel and administer his vaccinations in this way*** received his evening meal on 2/25/The caregivers were able to walk him for evening walks by using a slip leash to protect both *** and staff members,On the morning of 2/26/17, *** was being walked by a caregiver on the slip leash as he was still aggressive towards his caregiversDuring his walk, *** backed out of the slip leash, releasing himself from the leash, and ran from his caregiverThe caregiversaw *** run through the iron fence at the front of the business propertyShe pursued *** and was able to get him to run back towards the Limerick Veterinary Hospital momentarily, away from *** ***Being frightened, *** continued to run and resumed his path to *** ***The caregiver called her manager and alerted her fellow staff member of the situationThe kennel was secured and the staff members responded to the caregiver's locationShe continued to follow *** to *** Golf Farm where he briefly walkedAt ***'s lice Cream Parlor, the caregiver lost sight of *** after he ran under pine trees in the area.Upon arrival, the manager, shift leader, and caregiver began searching the last place *** was seenOne person continued on *** *** towards *** *** Road, one across the field/pond area, and another in the business'sMore staff members from the vet hospital, including the practice manager and owners of the practice arrived to assist in the search***'s owners were informed after the initial sweep was unsuccessful via cellphone that *** was missingThey informed us that they would be traveling home from Boston immediatelyThroughout the day additional staff were called to work to keep the search on foot continuousFlyers were distributed to local businesses and hung on telephone poles in the immediate area of the vet hospitalindividuals used their vehicles to drive around the area as well***'s owners arrived before dark and were able to search the area with staff members, hoping to coax him out of hiding,On Monday, the Limerick Wet Hospital called other local veterinarians, police, shelters, and took to social media in attempts to find ***Follow up calls were made throughout the week to all of these resourcesThe Limerick Wet Hospital enlisted the help of *** ***, an organization dedicated to finding lost dogs in the areaFor a fee, they would assistinguiding the search, provide support, and help with the many tasks involved in spreading the word*** *** set up feeding stations, traps, and wifi Cameras in hopes of a sighting of ***Limerick Wet Hospital continued dawn to dusk searches, set our own traps, and began the process of distributing flyers in the greater Limerick township and surrounding areasLimerick Veterinary Hospital maintained communication with ***'s owners regarding the search plan and their own wishes, Limerick Wet hospital followed up with several possible sightings and calls about dogs barking in Montgomery CountyThe staff was on call and vigilant to any tipsFollowing the lead of *** *** and ***'s parents, the Limerick Veterinary Hospital expended time and resources on purchasing, creating, and distributing flyers, LVH also went door to door to neighboring homes and farms to search and spread the word
