I am very dissatisfied with the very late response from the store managerA mower this old should not have the transmission fail alreadyAfter doing internet research I see there are lots of complaints and even a class action lawsuit pending regarding the faulty transmissions used in their mowersMy steering was tight when John Deere came to get my mower and replace the transmissionWhen the transmission came back to me the steering was floppy and looseI complained about the mower dying and John Deere came and got the mower and said they made repairsWhen they brought the mower back it continued to die and the steering remained looseI telephoned the manager and he advised me that his staff had greased the steeringThe bottom line is the manager did not offer to make my complaint rightI have a riding lawn mower that has loose steering and drives like a sail boatI paid for service and I did not get itI have a defective mowerI want this complaint to stay on your websiteI want other consumers to be able to read this posting and be warned that this dealership is not reputable and they do not stand by their products or their serviceI would not return to them for anything, Initially I did hang up on the manager after he continually kept telling me my mower was repaired and there was nothing wrong with itHe didn't even try to make it rightIt was like talking to a rockI moved here from a small farming community in western IllinoisI have a John Deere dealership back home that stands by their products and service and has a reputation of making the customers happyI thought I could trailer my mower and take it to another dealership in the Louisville, Kentucky area for repairs but they are all owned by the same ownersThey are liars and cheats hereThey will sell you defective equipment, charge you for repairs and fail to make those repairs and ignore your complaintsI will not do business with them again!!!!

Response:
Mr. [redacted] has a LA165 mower that was serviced in February of 2015 and had the transmission replaced and a tire repair. When the mowing season started, Mr. [redacted]’s machine was picked up for a dying issue. We repaired the wiring to one of the switches and returned his machine. Mr. [redacted] called back stating that we damaged the steering on his machine in the process of the repairs. We picked up his machine and inspected the unit. His unit had wear to the steering column gear, bushings and sector bracket that is seen in most machines with normal use. We replaced the steering gear on the bottom of the steering column, replaced the wear bushings on the column, fasteners and washers on the steering sector bracket and tested the unit. The steering felt normal to specifications upon completion of this work. The unit was returned to Mr. [redacted] and no-charge was submitted for this work. Parts and labor for the steering repair along with the pick-up and delivery would have costed the customer $261.60, but was waved for customer goodwill. After return of the mower from the steering repair, Mr. [redacted] called to say we did nothing with steering issue and was very displeased. When he finished conveying his displeasure with the unit, I began to apologize to Mr. [redacted]. At that point we were either disconnected or he hung up on me. We are committed to stand behind the quality of any repair Mr. [redacted] paid for on his unit. If Mr. [redacted] does not feel the steering is fixed properly, we can offer to have his machine evaluated by John Deere’s Regional representative to see if the steering repairs meet expectations with his model and year of manufacture.
