Hello,On October 16th, 2015 (10/16/2015) Affordable One replaced the roof for storm damage. Because of time constraints on both parties behalf, Affordable One performed interior repairs on January 14th, 2016 (1/14/2016) including painting 3 Ceilings and repaired drywall. Affordable One also painted flashing and fixed gutters to rectify Mrs. [redacted]'s grievances at the time. On December 2nd, 2016 (12/2/2016) Affordable One Remove and Replaced ridge vents and installed 4 new turtle vents to address Mrs. [redacted]'s ventilation grievances. At this time I, J.R. Affordable One is committed to Customer Satisfaction. This property is also located in Sienna Plantation where multiple tornadoes touched down during Hurricane Harvey. With 50 inches of rainfall in just two days, it is very likely that Mrs. [redacted] experienced new damage due to that storm event, which is not covered under ANYONES - ANYWHERE roofing warranty. With that said. Affordable One is still committed to repair and paint any drywall that she may have had damaged. Affordable One is willing to hire a ventilation expert for a recommendation on ventilation products that would improve Mrs. [redacted]'s roof air circulation, and perform the work. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  After viewing the response from Affordable One’s, it only furthers my mistrust in their integrity. After two visits attempting to add/fix flashing leak around the Master-bedroom Chimney, and communication with Derrick to address the damage to interior from that chimney leak, I was placed in contact Carlos. He came out November 19, 2016. After reviewing the roof above master, he said he’d report to his company, they’d be out after the holidays. His concerns were potential board damage under shingles, inadequate venting, ridge-vent (11 ft over 1,008 sq ft area, covering south end room, separate attic covers 46x15, the fact the vent was cut improperly and full of shingles. As promised they showed up December 2, 2016 fixed flashing for 3rd time, and replaced the ridge vent. They said they’d send out a painting/drywall crew for the interior damage, the painter stopped by, he’s been trying to call, however, they gave him the wrong number. We scheduled the day, and he never showed up, and have not heard from anyone since. What disappoints me even more is the blatant false  claim of installing 4 turtle vents. After reading their attempt to appear as if they’ve done all work when requested, my faith in their desire to be honest worried me. Therefore, I hired an inspector $440, I wanted to know all issues regarding a roof that appears to have been installed by untrained, lazy, messy workers. This inspector, went into the 10/12 & 9/12 pitch Roof, which affordable only addressed East wing roof. Findings from inspector:All Nail heads at flashing and anywhere on the roof should be sealed, they are not buried, which will cause water to penetrate the structure. The siding should have been installed 2” above the shingles to prevent wicking moisture into siding. The absence of Drip Edge/ on the gable, west side, is what caused the water leak seen in October. There is inadequate flashing and ridge cap on the Gable. The water from the absence of drip edge and plumb Line at Gable enabled the water to travel thru the brick wall onto the first floor. Additional no Kick out flashing where upper and lower rooflines meet. Valley’s improperI realize that the crew and their workmanship is to blame, however, my disappointment in Affordable One, knowing the crew had done at best an elementary job, should have done a total inspection of the over 4,000 sq ft roof they installed. This  would have prevented farther problems. Knowing that they are dismissing the facts,  falsifying work not done, gives me fear in doing the right thing. I entrusted them with a $13,xxx, contract. I shouldn’t have to suffer because of their Employee work ethics. I’m a fair person, I cleaned up my yard for weeks, no yard sweep was done, I cleaned my pool distorted with debris, I informed but didn’t get angry when they stole my satellite dish and took my beer (outside refrigerator, I stocked with water for them. But water  is a serious issues, damage to insulation, boards and mold. And as far as the tornado’s touching down, I’m in Sugar Land, we didn’t have tornadoes, however, we did receive 47.5” of rain. According to the claim from CertainTeed’s website, shingles and ridge-vents, if installed correctly, are Wind Driven Rain Resistant to 110 MPH, as tested in FL, where hurricane’s are normal. The other two ridge vents, a 10’ and 4’ cover 2567 sq feet attic space, the 4’ is the top hip roof which has 8/12 & 10/12 pitch, this increases NFA by 20%, 2,0067 sq ft total. The other 507 sq feet with 10 FT ridge vent  has a 10/12 pitch (13X42’) all exit air is weighted to the the SE half of the home. Which is why the SW corridor has become impossible to cool. The Certain Teed vent provides 18” NFA area per linear foot, on a 4’ vent minimum you loose on each end is 6” therefore  at best this is a 3’ vent, for 2,067\2 for intake, exhaust, is 1,033 NFA exhaust needed.Again, I’m requesting repayment of fees incurred trying to protect my investment,  $440 I feared their anger over my disclosure would give them a reason to deny my claim.  I’m requesting a reputable roofing company give bid for repairs and interior drywall and ceilings  and pray that Affordable One will do the right thing and honor my desire to not work with someone I do not trust. [redacted]

Sent: Monday, February 22, 2016 9:40 AM Subject: Re: Revdex.com of Houston and South Texas- Complaint regarding Your Business #[redacted] Hello, Mrs [redacted] filled a complaint because she was upset that we asked for such I high amount on the supplement portion of the claims process. The supplement process exist...

for many reasons. For example; Current price list, incorrect measurements, missed items or scope of work, contractor's overhead and profit, OSHA requirements, etc. Insurance companies are a business, so the less they pay out at the end of the year, naturally, the better it is for them financially.  My job is to make sure that they pay as much as possible for two reasons:  1. We as a company do not believe in cutting corners on labor nor materials. Some contractors would look at initial bottom line and because they don't either know or understand how to ask for more money through the supplement process, they proceed to use sub par materials and craftsman to remain profitable. 2. To remain profitable and in stay in business indefinitely. The idea is to stay in business and to be profitable. We put a 10 year labor warranty on our work. We can afford to do so because we don't cut corners on materials, we use only the highest quality material in it's class, and we use high end craftsmen vs. the "2 chucks in a truck" with no liability insurance or workman's composition insurance who slap roofs on with pneumatic guns vs. hand driven nails. Being profitable ensures that we remain in business to uphold those warranties. The insurance company approved a partial payment of the total amount that I asked for in the supplement process. I, as the contractor, have to ask for everything that can possibly be paid for. If I don't ask, it already is a "NO" or denied. All of my supplement was not approved but that is to be expected by some insurance companies like Mrs [redacted]'s.  I hope that this clarifies the situation and I am at you disposal if you need anything else from me like further explaining.    Thank you for your support.   Best regards --   J.R.
