The customer about 1 1/2 months ago contacted up saying the head gasket was bad and the vehicle overheated. We told them to get It here and we would look at it. They drove it in "which usually does not happen with a head gasket issue. When a head gasket goes bad it is in fact bad". We pressure...

checked the system and it gave no indication of a head gasket. I'm not sure if our mechanic made any repairs or not But I know the car ran and ran and never overheated. Customer got the car back 2 weeks later they said it overheated. We told them once again to bring it in. They drove it in NO overheating issues. They told us in only did it after driving 45 minutes I believe just the 2 times. We once again checked everything. Everything appeared to be in perfect working order. I explained to the customer that it its only done it a couple times and it cooled down and did not do it again for 2 weeks the only thing it really could be was a thermostat or air pocket. I told her we can do a head gasket for her but I believe that was not her issue and I would feel guilty for charging to fix an issue that they say it is. if I do not believe that to be the issue. So we replaced the thermostat we then after letting the car sit and run for hours I had an Employee drove the car over 1 hour one way on the highway and 1 hour back the other way. It never overheated. So we charged $80 for the work we did. which actually at regular shop hours would be about 260 dollars. a few weeks later she calls yelling obscenities including F Bombs. I never once argued  I was polite and remained calm despite all the F bombs.  She said our mechanics are no good back yard mechanics. I explained we work on customers cars only as a courtesy and she is under no obligation to use us for repairs. She continued to curse me not telling me her current issue. She then continues yelling at me then tells me to talk to the mechanic. I explained I am not interested in talking to no one with her attitude. She then puts on her cursing husband. I have no issue trying to talk out an issue. But after so many F bombs and belligerence. I had a headache and was no longer interested in talking or trying to help. I in fact told them if they were not happy with the vehicle they could drop it off put the keys in my drop box and we can part as friends. I am tired of these people being rude, obnoxious and vulgar. They can get the car fixed or not get it fixed but I am not interested in dealing with the behavior they have put us through. I sometimes ask myself If they really have had an overheating issue. Usually when a car overheats in continues to do so and only gets worse. We cannot duplicate her concerns and at this point am not interested in helping them do so. If they decide to fix it great. If they drop it off as a voluntary repo prior to next payment being due. I will not pursue the balance and make no collection activity on the account. Our relationship moving forward is they need to make the payment or not make the payment. Now on the other hand if we do not get payment or the vehicle then collections would of course proceed.

[redacted] bought a vehicle from us. He did layaway and picked up the vehicle a couple days ago. The customer never told us he had an issue or was unhappy. We try to safety inspect and service all vehicles prior to selling them. As good as we may think we are or are not, Sometimes things get...

overlooked. If he would of brought these things to our attention I would of told him to set up a service appointment and we would check them out for him. Even though we sell everything 100% ASIS you have legality and morality to consider. If he just bought a car and an issue is there that we missed. I'm sure when it came in for service we would help out and fix it as a Good Faith Repair at NO COST to the customer. If he's already fixed it there isn't much I can do now to fix it. But if he has the receipt I will take it off his loan amount. We at Linville Auto Sales base our business on doing things right and treating people right. If the customer would of called us instead of filing a complaint his issue would probably be resolved by now. I can't help an issue if I do not know there is one. As far as down payments go. We put the down payment price and biweekly payments on the window. That way it's fair to everyone. Our approval process is based on distance from the dealer. If someone lives in our town the down payment is as stated. The further people live away we have a chart that is on display in our office that shows what the downpayments are the further you live away. He never questioned the $200 additional down. And I personally don't think it's the real issue for him. I think the real issue is the vehicle needs something done to fix a problem  that we possibly overlooked. If this is the case As stated above I will help anyway I can. Once again I cannot help if someone does not let me know there is a problem. Please forward receipt if already fixed and I will credit the loan as a good faith credit. If the problem has not been fixed please call and set up a service appointment. I apologize for his issue that he's having but all he had to do was call. Communication goes a long way. Thanks, [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolvedI am still confused as to why extra cash was needed for down payment. I can understand if I lived hundreds of miles away, or in a different state but I don't even live 10 miles away, just a different county, one that neighbors the county this business is in. This has never been asked of me in the past, no matter where I lived or who I dealt with.
