The steering wheel on my car shook when I pressed down on my breaks. I have friends and family who experienced the same issue so it was not uncommon. Usually its just the rotors.
I took the car to Lisi's and they came back with a quote of over $800 to replace not only the rotors but the calipers as well because they were rotted through. I can clearly see the calipers through my rims and they aren't rotted at all. the car is only a few years old and doesn't have a lot of mileage on it. I told them not to do the work. $800 is crazy.
I went to pick the car up the next morning and they wanted to charge me $137 for doing absolutely nothing beyond looking at the breaks. When I refused to pay they tried to withhold my car from me. I was in a rush and had a job to get to so I decided to let it drop and pay them, even though I didn't think it was fair.
The manager or owner (not sure who) refused to take my credit card and insisted I pay cash. I had to threaten to call the cops before he finally backed down and accepted the card.
Now I'm out $137 and I still have to get my car repaired.

We broke down on I-684 and had no choice about getting our fuel pump replaced here.

The good - They were able to get to our car the next day (Saturday) and get it done and they gave our family of 4 a ride to a hotel.

The bad - They are *very* expensive. While the parts and labor charges were clear and technically correct, they were at the very top of the high end of the range for everything. They were as expensive (or more) than going to a dealer!

I had asked if they could cut us a bit of a break, given their high prices and our financial situation (We are not well off, as evidenced by our 11 year old car). But they would not even consider giving us even a dime of discount.
