contacted our venue during June, 2015. She was looking to host a rehearsal dinner for her son’s wedding, and was referred to us by several of her friends/ acquaintances. She had not visited the venue prior and I recommended she visit before booking her event. She declined and requested the contract anyway. Once she received the necessary paperwork she signed and sent them back to us with the deposit check, all with out seeing the venue.On 8/27/2015, Ms. [redacted] called the office and wanted to pay her balance. Unfortunately , she would need to come into the office with a payment due to the fact we do not except [redacted], and she was pass the contracted due date. She arrived in the afternoon through the Main Room upstairs. I greeted her and then guided her to the room she rented which is called the Paddock Room. The Paddock Room is in the lower level of the building , but also has a farm view like the Main Room. Upon entering the room she began to get emotional. She stated , “ I can’t have an event in someone’s frigging basement, this place is a hell hole,” and voiced several more of her opinions of the room. I told her I was sorry she felt that way, but this is the room she booked. Ms. [redacted] stated that I needed to fix her mistake and solve her problem for her. Again, I stated the Paddock Room was the room she booked and it would look different once the tables, chairs, linen, and décor were set up for her event ( The room only had a few undressed tables , chairs, and an arbor at the time).She spoke with herself about her options and stated if she went to another venue she would just be forfeiting the deposit ( $235.77). She sobbed and asked to be left alone for a while. I allowed her time alone and went on with my daily duties. Once she composed herself the exact conversation started all over again. She asked to switch to the other room ( the Main Room). I stated the Main room was already contracted during the date/ time she would need and therefore it would be unavailable to her. She stated she needed time to think about the her options and left our venue.One day the next week Ms. [redacted] called and spoke with the General Manager, Curt E[redacted]. Ms. [redacted] stated she was sorry for her break down and that the mistake was her not the Carriage House staff’s. She also stated the lady she had spoken with earlier was polite about the situation. Ms. [redacted] told Mr. E[redacted] that she was unhappy and would not be using the room because it was too small for her guest list of 70. Mr. E[redacted] assured her that the Paddock room was fire coded to banquet seat 100 guests comfortably. She informed him she was finding another venue and her event at the Carriage House would not take place, and the call was over.Ms. [redacted] never asked for her deposit back in either instance . It clearly states on the terms and conditions paperwork that deposits are non- refundable. I have attached a copy of Ms. [redacted]’s signed contract and terms and conditions paperwork.
