I entrusted this company to move me from Raleigh to Durham they failed to take many items on the truck & lost other itemsMy mom passed away on 5/7. I had to move her things to NC from NY I was also in the process of moving. The NY movers were supposed to arrive in Durham on 6/6 but called & said they were coming 6/5 same days as Raleigh movers. I met these movers in Raleigh & told them everything goes on the truck to Durham. They said they could not take my cleaning supplies I was ok with that. My last instructions to them was everything goes. After they arrived in Durham I learned they had not moved my microwave oven or my flat screen TV. When I returned to Raleigh the next day I found that they not only did not take these items but there were about 6 boxes some very large that they left behind, no reason given why they didn't take them. I am physically disabled completely on my own in NC & spent the next 2 1/2 days moving things from Raleigh to Durham that were neatly packed but the movers failed to take. In trying to move the microwave I broke my walker. I suffered physical setbacks because of the hard physical labor I did for 2 1/2 days retrieving things they didn't take. Still in mourning over the loss of my mom I did not unpack. Between my things that came from Raleigh & mom's things from NY there were in excess of 150 boxes maybe more. I recently hired a professional organizer & together we unpacked ALL of my things from Raleigh leaving only a couple boxes of breakable items of my mom's unpacked. When all the unpacking was done I noticed BOXES MISSING. There are 2 boxes from the living room containing a large & expensive medication organizer (no medication) a number of personal & small electronic items & paperwork & display boards for a business I am starting. My bedroom lamp & a number of bedroom items (1 box) from the bedroom is also missing as well as a 2-step step stool. Once the organizer & I assured that ALL the boxes that should have come from Raleigh were unpacked & no other Raleigh boxes existed in my new apartment or in my van there was no other conclusion than they are missing. I spoke to [redacted] at this mover & he defended his men saying they did not leave things behind in the Raleigh apartment & moved everything that was packed. This is not true. Just as you walked into the Raleigh apartment in the dining room were large taped boxes of office & other supplies that they did not take & of course they did not take the TV nor the microwave. I had arranged for this mover to come on the 5th & the NY mover to come on the 6th. The secretary for the NY mover called me on the 4th & said her movers were coming on the morning of the 5th the same time as these movers. These movers were inflexible in working things out so I had no choice but to give explicit instructions to these movers in Raleigh then rush to Durham to be with the NY movers. As it turned out I was given the wrong date & the NY mover's did not come until the 6th but by the time I learned this it was too late for me to get from Durham back to Raleigh. The mover's did not inventory my apartment prior to the move. On the phone they asked me what I needed to move I THOUGHT I gave them a complete inventory. I am [redacted] As a result of their not personally doing inventory & my not remembering everything any time I mention them leaving something behind in Raleigh I am told it was not on the inventory list. Even if the TV & microwave were not on the inventory list I told them to take everything & common sense dictates if someone is moving they are not going to leave their microwave & TV at the old apartment. My physical disability is not something I can hide, they knew I was disabled, I mentioned being in mourning over the loss of my mom & I had the misinformation from the NY movers, This laid the groundwork for this company having the ability to take advantage of me & rip me off & they did just that. Some missing items are irreplaceable but those items that have monetary value the moving company is not offering to pay for. Their workers are lying & they are defendingDesired SettlementThe monetary value of the lost items (from my best guess based on [redacted] receipts & what I know I paid for items) is $492.00, the walker that broke under the weight of the microwave they failed to move is another $200 approximately. The items related to the business I am starting were books & creative ideas. The books are included in the estimate the creative ideas, posters & marketing items can't have a value placed on them. I am seeking monetary compensation in the amount of $1,000. The $692 in lost and/ or damaged items & the remainder for pain, suffering & emotional anguish. Anyone of my doctors can verify I AM NOT supposed to lifting & moving things particularly heavy items like microwaves & TV's but because this company failed to move these 2 items & a number of boxes I was forced to spend 2 1/2 days lifting & moving things they left behind. I moved from NY to NC last November & do not know anyone (except the doctor's treating me) in NC I had no one to help me with the move. Because I am an honest & trustworthy person I trusted this moving company to also be honest & trustworthy instead they took full advantage of the situation I was in & the fact I had no friends or family to assist.
