Liz and George Farms Reviews (6)

Just avoid wasting your time with him
Saw an ad for a boar for $250, called asked the typical questions. Twice he tried raising the price to $300 despite what the ad says. Then read the other bad reviews and it just reinforced my gut feeling that this guy was not someone I wanted to deal with.

I responded to a Craig’s List ad for hay, and made arrangements to have it delivered. He asked to be paid before delivery, so I went to George and Liz Farms on 4/12/19. He called me that day to tell me that the hay in the ad was gone, but he had bigger bales of hay for $4.00 per bale. I should have known something was off right then, but I agreed to his price. He told me he could haul 60 to 80 bales, so I paid for 80 bales. He quoted me a price of $2.00 per mile for delivery. According to my calculations using Googlemaps, I should have paid $149.00. He charged me $222.00. I let that go. He arrived an hour late for delivery, then only had 55 bales. He kept saying how much bigger they were and so I was getting such a great deal. I let him leave and didn’t press the issue, but the next day I texted him and demanded a $100.00 refund (the price of the missing bales), or the 25 bales of hay I am due. I got two long voice mail messages from him again stating that I should be happy because he gave me such great hay in bigger bales. He actually said that it was like getting the equivalent of 110 bales at least. Mind you, his bales are no bigger or heavier than the bales I bought from my regular supplier last fall for $3.50 each. Avoid this business! George is using a bait and switch method as I’m sure I got the same bales he had listed on Craig’s List. I had to click on a star for the satisfaction rating, but if I could give this business no stars, I would.

I buy fruits and vegetables weekly from Liz and George Farms. Greg always provides the best quality produce in the area at very fair prices. I love supporting local farmers.

BUYERS BEWARE ! BUYERS BEWARE ! BUYERS BEWARE ! BUYERS BEWARE !

Greg is one of the most dishonest people I have ever dealt with. Be sure that any transactions you make ( if you choose to ) you are getting exactly ever thing that you are supposed to be getting. He will take advantage of you in a heart beat. Must be his personal style.

I have purchased produce from Liz and George Farms several times. Mr. Havican has always treated me right and sold high me high quality produce at prices far less than I would have to pay at the supermarkets. It's great that I can buy fresh produce and support local farmers.

Review: Failure to satisfy your obligations under the terms of our agreement. Placed order on 6/16/15, with $7,000 deposit for 6 pure breed Black Angus 800 to 950 lbs; 2 pure bred Hereford steers 800 to 900 lbs; 2 baldies (Hereford/Angus mixed) 800 to 900 lbs. We made arrangements to pick our order up at your family farm Liz and George Farms, in Erie, PA on 7/5/15. Our order was not ready. You agreed you would deliver our order of cattle for an agreed upon price of $1.50 a mile within 2 weeks of 7/5/15. On 7/14/15, you informed me by phone that you would not be able to make the delivery. Two weeks later you called and informed me that you could not fulfill our original order. Black angus had a LITTLE white, 1 Hereford was over 1,300 lbs, but you would only charge 1,000 lbs. I agreed to all your changes as long as only a couple cattle was OVER 950. We asked for each cattle's weight, since you informed us that you weighted each cattle when you pull them out of the field. You called late on 7/29/15 while I was in the hospital and said all the cattle where over 1,000 lbs, we stated this was a problem. You delivered anyway on 7/30/15. Daughter refused order, but you then stated you would not refund our deposit. You let all 10 cattle out and she could not inspect them. After they were out 4 were bulls. She asked for vet papers and you stated you did not have any, a family member who is a vet inspected them. We have asked for papers and you have not provided them. Returning from the hospital I noticed they were small. we called a vet, the 4 bulls had enlarged and infected balls, costing us $350. Vet recommended we get them weighted. Took 9 of them to an auction house with certified scales and all 8 were between 550 and 850 lbs, you stated they were all 1,000 lbs. We paid you for each cattle to be 1,000 lbs, they do not lose that much weight in transportation. We over paid you $1,980. You sent a dairy steer, one with an ear tag like it was from an auction, and 3 clearly not angus.Desired Settlement: The difference between the weights you gave us and the weights we obtained at the auction house are 2109 pounds, making it an overpayment of $3,480. Since we cancelled the $1,500 check after noticing how small the cattle looked, if we deduct the $1,500 from the $3,480, we overpaid you $1,980. We are requesting that you reimburse us for the $1,980 plus $350 for the Vet call and $25 for the cancelled check fee for a total of $2,355.
