I went to purchase a money order from this business at the Warrensville Heights location, and the customer service representative was looking up my information and said that her computer was frozen and the next thing I know, after about 5 minutes, another lady comes from the back, then hands me a receipt with change stating that I owed them for a loan and she took the money out of the money I was trying to purchase the money order. I asked why did she not disclose to me what she was doing and not taking the money under false pretenses. She was VERY nasty and told me she didn't have to tell me anything and that she just wants the money I owed and begin talking to me so nasty and I was VERY upset because I tried to explain to her that that money was not mine and that they money belonged to my mother who is ill and losing her home, and that money was was for that purpose, and was not mine. She said she didn't care and that she had a job to do and when I asked for some type of proof, and her supervisor, a gentleman said that he was the owner and began pointing saying he doesn't give away free money and that he was going to call the police on me. I then left the store and called Stephanie at the corporate office and she of course agreed that I was irate and that they had a right to collect the money, although they never disclosed anything to me and she ended up hanging up on me because I was very upset and crying.

After reviewing the response from the company, I do not agree with their account of the matter for several reasons. First of all, I DID NOT under ANY circumstance threaten ANYONE there with bodily harm. If that is the case, I would like proof of my statements. I agree that I was very upset, which I had every right to be because 1). When I asked the manager to provide me with proof of my debt, she refused and I know according the the Fair Credit Act, companies are obligated to provide a customer with proof of their debt. 2). Whether it is their policy to collect on an old debt or not, they still DO NOT have a right to take funds to cover a debt without my knowledge, and NOT inform me of the transaction. That is called a deceptive collection tactic, which is illegal according to the FCRA. The manager also disclosed to me that she took the money because if she had told me what it was for, I wou.ld have left without paying and she wouldn't have gotten her money. 3). I never agreed to the debt, because I had absoluteley NO PROOF of my signing the agreement. Also, I filed bankruptcy in 2014, therefore, if I had a debt with this company, it should have been disolved through the bankruptcy. 4). Again, I would like proof of my signature on this loan, and proof that the debt is mine. I have NOT been provided that information as of yet. 5. ***'s account of the incident is exaggerated, as I will admit I was upset because of the way I was treated, and the disrespect. However, Ms. is not disclosing the fact that I was in there alone, and there were 4 of her colleaugues there, so all of her accounts of the incident is going to be corrobratied with the 4 staff memebers because I have no other witnesses to show how downright awful and nasty they were treating me. What I do know, is that the women who took the money refuesed to discolse proof of the debt and told me she DID NOT care about he fact that that money was for my mother's mortgage. I am requesting proof of my threats of bodily harm and proof that I was so irate to the proint they had to provide extra security. Yes, *** hung up on me several times because I thought since she was a representative of the company that she would understand why I was so upset, because they took my mother's money and she was being forced out of her home. She basically DID NOT CARE and wanted me to get off of the phone because she had gotten her money. I simply stated to her their tactics were very wrong.\ As a consumer, I have a right to a modicum of respect from any business and I have a right to honesty and truth.
In regards to the second complaint letter received, reference #*** concerning Ms.. I am enclosing the complaint letter she sent to the Ohio Attorney Generals office, which gives a different account of events as well as her acknowledgement of the debt. As far as the customer filing bankruptcy we have never received any notice of such if we were in fact included. Miss *** requested to be treated with respect and I feel we have done so. Just as our employees deserve the same. We have tried to provide Miss *** with everything she has requested short of refunding her the money she herself agreed she owed. At this point any further communication needs to be handled thru her attorney.

My son borrowed $500 from this payday loan service, in October of 2018. A few days later he left the state and entered a hospital for approximately 2 months. This payday loan company continued to call me in an attempt to collect my adult son's debt. Eventually, I obtained his Federal tax return which was $525.00. I contacted the company and advised them that they could have the entire amount to settle the account. They agreed. I took a check to their location at ***, Lorain, OH. I gave them a personal check to cover the agreed amount, $525.00. Three days later, they sent me a receipt advising that they charged me $26.25 just to cash the check that was made out to them and that my son still owed them $76.32 for fees and charges. I called their company about the dispute and they acknowledged that they had agreed to accept $525.00 for the $500 borrowed as well as any fees and interest earlier in the week. Now they are saying that I should have known that they were going to charge me to cash a check made out to them and that they will check on the agreement but haven't returned subsequent calls.
(The following was copy/paste by Revdex.com staff - LST)***02/28/2018 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, On 2/20/18 *** called our corporate office inquiring how much was owed on his son's ***, account with an offer to settle with a payment of $525.00. We agreed to take it as a settlement and let the customer's father know that by paying this it would stop all calls and collection efforts with our company. He asked if he could provide a personal check which we explained wasn't something that we usually do but made an exception and explained that there would be a fee involved because legally we are required to charge to cash any check. *** was provided with a receipt of his transaction as requested. Mr. Si did call back to the corporate office and wanted a receipt showing paid in full and an explanation as to why there was still a balance on the account. We explained to him the best we could that when an account is settled for less then owed a balance remains but would not be pursued. At this time I am agreeable to mark the account as paid in full with a zero balance and have done so. We do not report to the credit bureaus at this time so there is nothing to remove- I'm also enclosing a receipt showing a zero balance and will send one to *** Any questions please call me at *** Steffanie A Collections Manager
