Local Locksmiths Reviews (18)

I am a 18 year old student at [redacted] and misplaced my keys to my car. I found their number in a call book and decided to give them a call. I called and explained my situation and informed the driver that I needed a replacement key made to my 1993 Nissan Sentra. I asked him for a quote, or more or less price that he could give me before showing up. Although I asked twice for a price he insisted that he must see the car first. Upon arrival he simply asked what year the car was and if the ignition key matched the door. After telling him yes he gave me an absurd price of $308. Once I explained that this was outrageous and told him there were companies that could do it for under $120 he began to get upset. I told him that his service was not going to be needed and he tried to charge me $58 for a cancellation fee. I informed him that I wouldn't be paying because prior to his arrival I requested prices and he failed to mention anything about a cancellation fee. Then he threatened me, saying he would call the police. Once I called the police he began to panic and no longer asked for a cancellation fee. Overall it was a horrible service, and a scam. This company is trying to charge over $300 for a $100 service and a $3 key.

Localocksmiths.com is the typical locksmith scam company that you read about on the internet and in the papers.
I was visiting my relatives when I locked the keys in my car. I called them at 9pm last night. They said it would be $15 and that they would be there in 10 minutes. An hour and a half later, they came, opened the car door, then demanded $250. He tried to tell me not to worry about the high price because I could recover it through my insurance. I said the quote was for $15 and that I was not paying $250. At that point the man started yelling and swearing at me, demanding to be paid. So I got out my phone to call the company back to talk to his supervisor. When I put my keys down to make the call, he picked them up, threw them into the car, locked the door and then drove away. When I got the company on the phone again (while he was driving away), they said that they would not honor the original $15 quote and that if I pressed it further they would call the police. Stay away from this company.
Another company that I reached through the yellow pages came out 20 minutes later and opened the door for $25.

As I was leaving the grocery store I noticed a young high school kid and his baseball uniform was locked out of his truck his truck had the windows cracked and the keys are in the ignition and it was running so I called this company to come out we'll luckily a guy in the parking lot how to wire hanger on them came over and was able to open the door by rolling down the window cuz it was one of those hand roll down Windows it's an older truck is not electronic and so I called back to let her know that we got the issue resolved and not waste a technician time (not even 5 minutes later) and she says in a very sarcastic voice "oh really isn't that convenient well I'm just going to go ahead and pass your number on to the police department and let them deal with you now and then hung up on me." Peace lady wish I'd have seen the reviews before I called.

WE were locked out of our house. After traveling 12 hrs we came home and found we did not have a house key. We were exhausted from traveling and called the first number we found close to our house. They responded within 30 min. but charged $400 for a service that took no more than 10 min. to complete. We received a receipt with no company name on the invoice nor on the credit card voucher. We were too tired to notice this until the next morning. I called the number I had called the night before and after three calls and three promises that they would e-mail me a detailed invoice I gave up. We feel they took advantage of to tired senior citizens who made a mistake by leaving our home without a key.

After our son locked his keys in his car, we called Local Locksmiths. I had looked at their website, which quoted a trip fee of $14 (which was actually $14.99) and a starting fee of $29.99 to get into a locked car. After less than 10 minutes of work using unnecessary fancy tools, we were charged $209. The technician explained that the price online is a starting price only. This is false advertising since he also explained that the "starting price" of $29.99 is labor only. That means the price will ALWAYS be jacked up since every locksmith will need to use tools (unnecessary or not). There was no indication ever that the price would increase by $150. We spoke to the manager who was incredibly rude and ended up having to pay this ridiculous price. It is highway robbery at it's best.

When I called this locksmith they said it would cost $14 for a service call and $19 per lock to re-key two locks. Instead, the guy charged me $520! By the time I looked at the invoice (which I had stupidly signed without really examining because I thought their quote was their quote, i.e.,"we charge $14 to come out and $19 per lock to re-key") the guy had finished the work. So thinking I'd be paying about $52, instead I end up paying $520! I only had two locks yet the guy charged me "labor and installation" of $40 x 3. 3? What's the 3 for? This is the worst business experience I have ever had. It's a bait and switch operation where you think you're going to get the quoted price and they bamboozle you with some piece of paper they get you to sign without mentioning that instead of the quoted price of $52 they're going to put a zero at the end of that and charge you $520! Maybe the guy who showed up could've opened his trap and SAID that he wasn't giving that famous $14 internet price for a service call with $19 per lock. He quickly does the work and then says "hey, the work is done, you gotta pay what it says there on the paper!" This was highway robbery! Run from these people.

I contacted 24/7 locksmith at approx. 7:20pm 1 March 2016 to request assistance because my daughter and I got accidentally locked out of our home that evening. Spoke to a representative who stated it would take 20 minutes to arrive to the house. The technician inspected the residence to see which entrance was better to gain access. I asked show much would the service be he stated it depends on difficulty. I seen his initial invoice and I relized it stated $ 14.99 for service call and an amount I taught was $85 which turned out to be $185. I joked around and said it cost that much to just pick a lock. The technician stated he would give me a 10% discount because I was in my military uniform. It took the technician approx 25-30 to open the back door. When I looked at the final inventory the balance was $309. I asked the technician why, he then proceeds to state $125 for labor and approx.$16 for taxes. I told him that's a rip off. I did not have my locks replace, he just picked my lock. So I asked what's the $185, for the equipment he used. The operator initially stated it would cost, $14.99-service call and beginning balance of $ 25 to pick lock. How did I go from approx. $85 to end up paying $309. I see this business took advantage of me being a female soldier. I tried several times and left several messages with the customer service managers desk, however I have not received a single call back or feedback to why they gave false Price. That's fraud. When I called the operator back he seemed shocked that I was charged that much, then proceeded to give me an attitude when I commence to ask about the business policy, protocol, and prices. I would have rather called another service provider or merely abreak a small window to gain access.

I locked my keys in my car during lunch and I called this locksmith to help me out. When I amazed how much it would cost they told me $43 dollars and so I said that was alright and gave them my info. They came within an hour and opened my door within 10 minutes. And they charged me $244.97 which is ridiculous!!!! I believe they took advantage of me being a 17 year old female. I do not recommend this locksmith to anyone! It's a scam and a total rip off!! I'm heated! And when I called they wouldn't give a refund or even apologize!

Terrible experience. It was very deceptive to pull business in. I called and the front line quoted minimal visit charge, and service. To my surprise the charge was ballooned to $385 for the drilling of the lock in addition to the visit and labor.

This was a scam and feel the lack of disclosure of upfront charges should b e addressed. The management was condescending when I shared my frustration to the experience asking for resolution. Shame on me for trusting.!

I called this company http://localocksmiths.com/ to fix dead bolt problem in my business location. I have asked how much is the service charge. The operator who answered phone call told me that $14.00. I was under impression that if I do not like his quote, I would pay $14.00 and move on.

Technician arrived on time and gave me a quote of $165.00, which I did not like it. I told him I do not like the quote and would like to pay service fee when I told technician that I am going to pay service fee with credit card he refused to take the payment and insisted to pay in cash. When I asked why he/operator did not disclose that ahead. He said if I went with the service call he would have taken cc payment. Since it is small amount he would not take it, which is totally incorrect way of doing business. Luckily I had cash on my valet and was able to pay.

Next morning I called the company to find about the policy so that in future I do not run into these kind of issues

The lady who took the call told me that they will take credit card payments. When I told her that I did not liked her technician’s quote, she was appeared little bit upset and started asking unrelated questions such as what did you do whole night, did you leave the door unlocked etc, which is none of her business. She told me that $14.00 is small amount and they would not make money if they take take credit card payment. Then I asked her why she did not disclose ahead and why it was advertised like $14 service call during my initial call setup. She says we do not have to disclose and it is there in their web site. Also, she tells me that since I have refused their quote, I should have been charged $55.00 which is totally absurd.

This is a bait and switch company, lacking professional work ethics. Beware of these kind of false and misleading advertisers.

I had another company came in and the same job was completed for $100. On top of that they provided couple of key copies free of charge.

This is a scam!!!! Tell you a price on phone then when work is done is over 200 more than quote!! Do Not Use This Company!!!!!!

Wow, where should I begin? It all started because we did not read the reviews on this place. What a nightmare. We were quoted $14 for a locksmith to come out and $20 per lock. When we found out the charge was really $55 for a single lock plus a $30 service fee (per lock!) we told them to just put everything back and leave. At that point we were told that we would be sued if we didn't pay them hundreds of dollars. What a joke. I hope this place goes out of business soon.

My elderly mother contacted Local Locksmiths (or Locksmith Service) in April 2016. They re-keyed 6 deadbolt locks and installed one new one and charged her $900!!! I did not find out about this until July 2016, at which point I did my research to find out how much a service like this should have costs. Based on a quote provided by another locksmith in town the total cost should have been somewhere around $200. I called and spoke with the manager Tony who became belligerent with me almost immediately. He informed me that my mother signed a contract and agreed to pay the $900 so there is no dispute. He went on to say that if she was unable to properly understand her circumstanced that maybe I should be with her whenever repairmen come to her house. I gave him the opportunity to make this situation right and he refused. Do not contact these scam artists!

I called to get information on having a spare key made. A technicician called back within 5 minutes. Once he told me the price I declined service. I recieved another call within 5 minutes from a number with no caller ID from a man who claimed to be the owner. The deal sounded shady from the start, so once again I declined service. The caller/owner began to swear and cuss at me for not wanting to do business. This cannot be a legitimate business.

I called this business to open the house lock. The person showed up late and then he tried one option using some sort of air bags. It didn't work. He told me the next option was to drill the lock out. He didn't have a good drill machine luckily I had one in my garage which we could use. Drilling didn't work. Then he tried another door with a key and in 15 mins the door was open. Here is what I didn't like
1. Why didn't he try the third option first. To which they wouldn't answer my question
2. They charged me a overall $445 which eventually brought down to $220 with service fee of $55 as against their claim of $14 service fee on their website.
3. They agreed to change the damage lock. I am waiting for them to come back. Hope they show up and change the lock.

We are Realtors and had a client locked out of their new house. The Locksmith quoted a $14 trip charge because they have techs in the area. And then $29.99 minimum depending on lock security. We estimated $100 due to past experience and knowing that this lock would be very easy to pick. The total bill was $245! The technician was there less than 3 minutes. He picked the lock on the garage door. This is not a security lock, but the small one on the garage door handle. The companies maximum advertised fee is $289. They charged $220 for the pick fee.

I locked my keys inside the trunk of my car and called this company based on their $14 quote online. Technician called back within minutes and arrived in less than 5 minutes. He unlocked my car in less than 45 seconds and filled the receipt for my charges. When I came over so I could look over the receipt I saw a "175" number and I was going to ask what that was but he saw my confusion and proceeded to tell me it was "just my case number". Before I knew it my bank account was charged $240 for the services. After calling the company, and speaking to the managers I realized how much of a business this wasn't. They continued to yell at me, and ask me unrelatable questions about myself and my situation. Even the technician who came out was unfriendly, cold, and he showed up in an unmarked, dinky minivan.

I would have been fine paying the base charge of $14 plus his said $30 labor charge but I was lied to and completely bombarded by this charge and the "company's" disrespect.

Never, ever use this company.

If I can give 0 Stars I would. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life. I locked my keys in my vehicle. I went on the internet and looked up locksmiths and local Locksmith service in [redacted] was the first place I saw. In the ad it stated $14, so I called them to get a quote. When I spoke to the representative, he quoted me $14 for the initial call and $29 service which came to $43. I waited outside for over an hour for the representative to come unlock my car making several phone calls asking where he was. When he arrived he greeted me asked me about the problem and proceeded to start opening the door. It took literally three minutes. When I vonfirmed the $43 quote he let me know that it had inflated to $279.

Of course at the time I refuse to pay due to being quoted $43 when I call the office. The representative who was opening up my car then gave me a lecture as to how I should live up to my word and make a payment of the$ 279. I told him I would pay the $43 that was quoted for the three minutes of work he did to get my door open. At which time he threw the keys back in the car and lock the door. Which I was fine with because I wasn't going to pay $279. The Exchange ended with him telling me he had other clients and he was going to call the cops for theft of service and I told him that would be fine because I'm not paying the $279. Plus I was already late for work.

He then told me I hate you people. Being a black man I felt really offended. But I kept it professional and simply said I wasn't going to pay $279. He then offered to lower it to $100. I refused and he told me I was wasting his time and then said F[redacted] You and got in his car and drove off. The experience wasn't over. I tried to reach the owner to file a complaint and he very dismissive and unresponsive to my grievances. The owner had a middle eastern accent and basically called me a liar and hung on me and my wife (who tried to call as well). It is now two hours later, my keys are still locked in the car and they even charged my card without authorization or services rendered. I had to call my bank to stop the charge.

Worst experience ever!!! I went on to [redacted] afterwards and I found multiple reviews stating the same quality of service and price gouging.
