CUSTOMER IS CLOSING THE CASE AGAINST US WITH THE BAR I WILL CALL HER TO ASK HER TO WRITE OR TALK TO YOU GUYS MANAGER [redacted].

Review: We took our truck to this garage because the state of California required a STAR station to perform the smog test necessary to purchase the registration renewal. We were quoted a price of $58.00 to do the test and receive a certificate. We left the truck with them and a phone number to contact us. We were just across the street from the shop for lunch. When we returned the truck was still in the garage and we were told it failed the smog test because the check engine light was on. We said we were aware of that and [redacted], the service writer said, he wish we had told him since that would automatically make the test a failure. Someone in that shop pulled that truck into the garage and the check engine light was on then, yet they continued on with the entire smog test and charged us $49.95. We were also told that an EVAP purge control hose was disconnected. The truck had recently been checked for the engine light code of P1810 and we knew it had to have a pressure switch in the transmission. No other codes were stored. We did not know that a check engine light on would be an automatic smog test failure until [redacted] informed us upon return to the shop. We were told if we had repairs done in that shop we would not have to pay for a smog test again and was quoted $190 for the switch replacement. We already had parts to do that repair ourselves. We feel we were unfairly charged because they knew a check engine light on would be a smog test failure yet they continued with a smog test when they should have ceased at that point and contacted us. We left a contact number and told them where we were.Desired Settlement: Refund.

Review: I had major and costly service done on my engine. Shortly after the work I had issues with the engine slightly over heating and the air conditioning didn't work. I took it in and they said they would do another $80 diagnostic. Meanwhile they assured the work "under a 90 day warranty". I didn't want to give them any more money so I left. One month later my engine seized. I took it to the closest shop and the friendly mechanic said its sounds like a bearing issue. He also said the issue was very rare and most likely was a direct result of faulty workmanship from the Loma Riviera 76. I contacted [redacted] at the 76 and he told me to tow it in "on my dime" and they would take a look. When the car arrived they refused to look at it because the engine had no oil. I did not feel comfortable leaving the car so again had it towed. The 76 refused to reimburse the fees.On my receipt with all the work major engine work they did, was a COMPLETE OIL CHANGE. A number of mechanics in their professional opinions said that there is no way the engine should have been completely out of oil after just under two months. UNLESS there was faulty work done and they did not seal the engine correctly.I have filed a complaint with the bureau of auto repair in California and am in the process of filing in small claims court. Please advice on anything else I can do. I look forward to hearing from you.[redacted]Desired Settlement: Reimbursement of the $2582.03 for the engine repairs. $200 in rental car fees. $80 in tow fees.

[redacted]-

I wanted to thank you for the fax regarding this matter (ID [redacted]) and I'm looking forward to

getting this resolved. I have pulled all estimates and invoices for this customer and have enclosed copies

to help better explain the diagnoses, the recommendations and the work agreed upon.

First documentation was when the customer [redacted] came into the shop to diagnose his car. It

shows all diagnoses and all work done on the vehicle, as well as notating all recommendations and

warranty requirements agreed upon and signed by the customer.

Second document is when the vehicle was towed back to the shop per customers request to diagnose

noise coming from the engine. Upon vehicles arrival to the shop the oil was checked and no oil was on

the stick, so no further work would be done on the vehicle until the Bureau of Automotive Repair would

come down and investigate the situation, the BAR was contacted by our shop Loma Riviera 76 and they

confirmed to cease work until they investigated.

Recently, I spoke with a representative from the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and they suggested

having you suggest to the customer to file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair for further

investigation.

I hope this helps in regards to this matter and hopefully we can get this resolved promptly.

Thank You,
