As Stated by the Business.
As with most businesses we are regulated with a tariff.  The Customer received a booklet “Important Information for Persons Moving Household goods” at the time of the Not to Exceed Price estimate (01/12/15), it told her what to expect on move day.  On the day of the Move 01/16/15, The Customer signed our Bill of Laden that also says that she received the booklet.  We also make a courtesy call the day before to let our customers know what time to expect us the following morning, which was done.
Before we left the first residence, we did a walk through with the customer to make sure everything that was supposed to be moved was in the truck.  This form was signed by the Customer.  At delivery after the truck is emptied we again check the truck and residence to make sure everything was delivered.  This was acknowledged by her signature.
We are sorry she had to hire packers and rent a U-Haul.  The Customer could have hired our company to do all the packing and be ready for move day.  The calculated charges for that service would have been $1,160.09 plus the hourly rate that was quoted.  She chooses not to, and said she would pack everything herself.
On the back of the Bill of Laden it clearly states “Unless it is specifically and clearly indicated in the Agreement for Service, the NOT TO EXCEED PRICE does not include charges for any accessorial services which may be requested and provided  for which are provided in the tariff. That means that unless it is specifically and clearly stated, the NOT TO EXCEED PRICE does not include charges for services including but not limited to appliance servicing, disassembly or reassembly of articles, flight or long carry charges etc.
The Customer signed the Not to exceed household goods quote (Estimate) for 3 men, a truck for 8 hours that was all.  Later in the afternoon as crews became available we sent a second crew to help.  She was not charged for their time and service.
Lompoc Van & Storage has been in business for over 55 years.  It has been owed by the same family that whole time.  Over those all those years we have never had a complaint like this.
Again we are sorry that the Customer incurred extra expenses.
Sincerely,

Complaint: 10431017
I am rejecting this response because: I called within the first half hour to complain about the head mover's attitude which involved a lot more than moving a TV.  Within a week I sent a registered letter to the owner. The form was signed and returned to me from indicating that the letter was received  I sent a copy of my letter to you on 2/4/15 which you submitted to Lompoc Van and Storage and you forwarded it to them.  It is now March 9, and we finally received a response.   I did the review under duress with the head mover looking over my shoulder. I do realize that I hadn't finished packing, but I would have made arrangements. However since I was paying for 8 hours work (they ended up charging me for the six they worked), I didn't expect to be so rushed. This was the first time I had hired a moving company, so I didn't quite understand the procedure.   The young men were willing to help, but the head mover would not allow it.   The other people showed up ONLY because I was under such pressure.  If Lompoc Van and Storage had showed some concern  with a call or a response to my letter, I wouldn't have filed the complaint.

Revdex.com Complaint Evaluation Officer; In response to your...

call regarding the above complaint by the Customer we did everything we could to help this customer. The crew we sent to her house are some of the best we have they always receive top ratings on all their jobs.   The estimate she signed which I have attached shows there was to be no packing she was to pack all the items and we were to only move them.   When the crew of three arrived the house was in disarray there were 4-5 people packing at the time. The items were to be packed and ready to move when the crew arrived. Had she contracted us to do the packing we would have had our packers there before the crew arrived to pack the items.   After receiving a call from the customer regarding her television our dispatcher went to the residence around  10:00 am with a packing carton for her TV which runs around $100.00 and packed her TV free of charge.   As for a registered letter with the complaints I do not see anything in her file regarding this. Our General Manager [redacted] will be back in the office on Monday March 9, 2015 if you would like to talk to her further regarding this complaint.  I am also attaching our Customer Comment Card in which the Customer gave above average ratings. I sincerely hope this will be able to have this review taken off.   Lompoc Van & Storage Inc. Accouniing/Storage/Personnel

Review: We recently moved across town. When the lead mover arrived, he did not give us time to secure our cat thus we didn't find her until the next morning (cold, hungry and scared). The lead mover went through the house telling us to do this, unplug that and we can't move that because it is glass. He was discourteous and aggressive. I was so upset that my a-fib (which makes my heart race and pound) kicked in and I couldn't settle it for several days. I contacted the movers to ask for another lead, but nothing happened. After a frustrating day, we had to return to the old house at least 5 times during the next two days with a rented U-Haul and hired help in order to complete the move (cost $500). I sent a detailed list of complaints by USPS with a required signature. The confirmation came back, but no phone call, note, etc.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $500 to cover the added expenses. (Lompoc Van and Storage billed me $987.50 for the move.)
