LONDON CHIMNEY SWEEP

Review: [redacted] of London Chimney Sweep quoted me $18,500.00 to rebuild my chimney. He required 10% deposit to start the work. On January 15, I paid [redacted] $1,850.00 (10% of the total estimate). After more than two months he has yet to show up to start the work or return my calls or emails. He also has made no effort to refund me the $1,850.00 I paid him.Desired Settlement: I would simply like my money refunded.

Review: London chimney never completed the work on our chimney. They missed two follow up appointments neither calling to say they weren't coming or rescheduling. They don't return our phone calls and though they have already cashed our check, have only done part of the written and agreed upon work. It has been three months and we have not been able to get anyone to talk to us. They have stolen our money.Desired Settlement: We want our money back so that we can get our chimney fixed properly.

Review: The masonry chimney in our 1950's home had a crack. We contacted London Chimney Sweep who performed an inspection and issued a report recommending that we install a "flexliner" to support the chimney which would repair the structural integrity of the chimney. We paid London Chimney Sweep $3,995.00 for the inspection and for installation, parts and labor for the flexliner. When the home was later inspected by two separate chimney inspectors for its structural integrity, it turned out that the chimney needed total re-build/replacement as it was structurally unsound. The work performed by London Chimney Sweep was completely inadequate and the chimney was not capable of safe operation. In late November, 2013, we called London Chimney Sweep to come out and inspect the work they performed. On November 25, 2013, [redacted], the owner of London Chimney Company, came to our home, inspected the chimney and confirmed that the work performed by his company was inadequate. We spent an hour with him in our home where we discussed the work and he agreed to reimburse myself and my husband for the $3,995.00 that we paid his company. At our home, we all signed a contract stating that London Chimney Sweep would refund us $3,995.00 by December 31, 2013 (document attached). Despite our numerous requests, London Chimney Sweep has not paid us, and [redacted], the owner of the company, is avoiding our calls and letters. Our certified letter that we sent to him on November 27, 2013 came back as "undeliverable." He has refused to give us an updated address as it appears he is no longer doing business in Irvine and is now operating out of the Santa Clarita area. We have left numerous messages but he refuses to return our calls.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of our $3,995.00 paid to London Chimney Company, as well as interest and costs we have incurred (i.e., postage for certified mail sent to the company, inspection costs, etc).
