There was a mistake made on *** ***’s returnShe did in fact owe the tax which was assessed of $plus interest accrued of $ As a policy we pay for any penalty that is assess on any mistake we may have madeIn this case there was no penalty only $of interest on the tax due
Typically we do not pay interest as the customer has in fact had the money vspaying it to the government However, above and beyond company policy I offered her an additional discount of $to more than offset the $interest She was already receiving a $discount on the return Lastly, she was rude and made a scene in my office even after that, when I asked her if I could do anything to help the situation she simply said no *** ***’s tax liability is hers, not our company’s, she failed to understand that and stated that she wanted to pay it when due, not now, but then went on to state that I should not pay itWhich we obviously disagree with When I find items in her return which saved her money I did not ask for a portion of her refund, however, as she is asking us to pay for her liability yet still

Review: The company made a mistake on my 2012 tax returns. I received a bill from the IRS for $218.00. The company was not willing to reimburse me for the full amount owed. They only deducted $50.00 from my filing fee.

So I still had to pay the $218.00 bill to the IRS.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the balance of $168.00 which is the amount due from the IRS bill that I received.

Response:

There was a mistake made on [redacted]’s return. She did in fact owe the tax which was assessed of $178 plus interest accrued of $40. As a policy we pay for any penalty that is assess on any mistake we may have made. In this case there was no penalty only $40 of interest on the tax due. Typically we do not pay interest as the customer has in fact had the money vs. paying it to the government. However, above and beyond company policy I offered her an additional discount of $50 to more than offset the $40 interest. She was already receiving a $100 discount on the return. Lastly, she was rude and made a scene in my office even after that, when I asked her if I could do anything to help the situation she simply said no. [redacted]’s tax liability is hers, not our company’s, she failed to understand that and stated that she wanted to pay it when due, not now, but then went on to state that I should not pay it. Which we obviously disagree with . When I find items in her return which saved her money I did not ask for a portion of her refund, however, as she is asking us to pay for her liability yet still.
